I don't agree with your viewpoint here....if I'm not mistaken, we gave up NOTHING to acquire Hall. Sure, maybe he didn't earn Pegula's money for a partial season, but it was only for 1 year (not several), plus we had the cap space to spend it. When he traded him, there was no salary retention. GMKA took a chance on a player who was still productive and not too old, in hopes his presence would improve the team. It didn't work out, maybe because of the horrible coaching we had. I think you would be more displeased if Hall was still here making $6MM a year for another few years.

Something else I wonder about is that we no longer have a Sam Reinhart type net front presence. I miss his ability to deflect shots. I don't know if we have somebody with that same knack.

6 weeks on Miller?!?! Wow, not much time between a possible return date and the trade deadline.

Still remember that evening. I think I was watching Ed Kilgore at the time. I can't remember his words, but to me it struck me as being something like "hold on to your butt". I remember some thinking that losing Derek Smith was going to be a big deal (not really though). Breaking up the tandem of Edwards and Sauve was a bigger deal to me. McCourt was the headliner, but obviously Foligno had the biggest impact. Brent Peterson was a good face-off guy for sure.

Such an unfortunate season for him so far....starting the very first game and that slash he took. At whatever point he's healthy enough to play, I hope he can bring a spark to the club, especially the power play.

Bad news on Kyle though....guess that hit along the boards was enough to put him on the sidelines a while.

Speaking of Joki....Water under the bridge, but can you imagine if we had selected Charlie McAvoy instead of Alex Nylander. Granted that means Joki would not be here then, but I'd sure rather have McAvoy if we had it to do all over again.

My expectation is that GMKA should be a seller and maximize whatever picks he can get for our UFA's. I have no illusion we'll challenge this season (or next) and so I'd prefer to get more picks and continue stocking the cupboard for the future. If he can swap some prospects in the process (ex. RHD), that would be excellent. We're at least two years away from challenging for the playoffs, so let's not give away 2nd round picks for mediocre older vets who are past their prime. If we buy, let's continue to use our cap space as a weapon and get more picks.
