  1. It sounds fun. There was a show on Science channel over the summer called Race to Escape and I think it's a similar concept. I'm sure i would be awful at it
  2. From Sabres.com Pre-season broadcast schedule article: "All seven preseason games will be broadcast live on WGR 550 and the Oct. 2 game against the Columbus Blue Jackets broadcast live on television on MSG. "
  3. as someone who shares his name, "Jacker" is about the stupidest nickname i could even dream up for myself. but to be fair, there aren't any good ones.
  4. yeah thats what i meant haha but i think posting those here is discouraged
  5. am i allowed to tell people to PM me for "live highlights" ?
  6. I highly doubt it. If we were to trade for him with pending UFA status, he is essentially a rental, which doesn't really fit the plan unless somehow the team convinces TM with their play that they are capable of winning the cup this year. Even then it is unlikely because of what it may cost. And extending him or signing him as a FA is going to cost north of $10m a year and a long term deal, which would interfere with eventually extending Eichel/Samson/ROR/Kane/Risto/Etc. I don't see it happening.
  7. So to follow up on this, Steve Brown reported on WGRZ that the bag is lacking certain markings (name, initials, and a label of what is inside) and that it may indicate the bag was just an extra and was never actually used to hold evidence.
  8. It's about as ludicrous as something you would see on HB, but Pagnotta and the other TFP guys are definitely more credible than Eklund Lol. How much so? Idk.
  9. I didn't see this being discussed anywhere. According to this (probably stupid) report from The Fourth Period, the Sabres were seriously considering a package for Eichel. I refuse to believe it to be honest, I don't think there's any way Murray would have strayed from his plan. This is the first I've heard of it. http://www.thefourthperiod.com/news/buf150924a.html The first name that comes to mind is obviously Stamkos, but I just can't fathom Murray would have ever been "close" to pulling the trigger.
  10. Just saw this tweet: Steve Brown ‏@WGRZ_SteveBrown 13m13 minutes ago EVIDENCE BAG? Att'y for accuser in #KaneInvestigation says it held evidence. But it's minus markings. Story 5&6 @WGRZ I guess i'll tune in at 5, but would that mean it's a fake if it is missing certain markings?
  11. forgive me if it sounds like i'm defending Kane because i'm not -- i hope the dude goes to jail and never plays hockey again if it's true. but i'm just trying to understand what exactly happened here today, since i'm pretty clueless when it comes to the legal system and all things related. wouldn't the rape kit being tampered with negatively impact Kane, given that it was reported that none of his DNA was found below the victim's waist? this was reported last week, presumably before the rape kit was taken from wherever it was supposed to be and torn open. surely both sides have been made aware of the results of the rape kit, and i would assume the results were documented elsewhere besides inside that bag. so if it is decided that the rape kit can't be used as evidence, wouldn't that hurt Kane's defense since he could no longer prove his DNA wasn't found?
  12. I think the Stars are all that. Their defense needs work obviously, but Oduya would help address that. They also have a few stellar young D prospects who could make the jump sooner rather than later. But more importantly (to me), they have a star studded offense that is even more star studded with the addition of Sharp.. not to mention they'll have Nichushkin back next year after playing only 8 games this season due to injury. That is one hell of a Top 6 group. I think they are a playoff team. That being said, I'm not sure that offering a "better chance to win sooner" necessarily matters to Oduya. He has already won two cups, and let's face it -- nothing is going to compare with the dynasty-esque team he just departed from. Take the money and run.
  13. I regret having actually taken the time to look at that guys timeline to verify that he is in fact just another hockeyyinsiderr.
  14. Tim has already said in one of his interviews or press conferences that he is "sticking to the plan" and will not make a typical deadline deal that involves giving up assets for a piece that might put us into the playoffs. So I think it's very unlikely that we will be buyers regardless of what the team shows in the first half of the season. As for selling, we have a few pieces we might be able to move out, depending on the kind of season they are having. Legwand probably has no value, but if he makes the roster and has an OK season, maybe some team would take a chance on him for a late pick. And although I think most here may actually want to keep McGinn, he could probably be parlayed in to a 3rd rounder also. As for the last part of your post though: why? There's no denying the team has been abysmal the past few years, but that was by design. The design has changed. Our top six has actual, real life, bonafide NHLers in it now -- six of them, even! If some want to question O'Reilly's value, fine. If you want to speculate over whether Kane is a problem child, fine. If you want to assume that Eichel will take a while to adjust to the NHL and isn't going to light it up right away, you're probably right. But no matter how you slice it, our Top 6 is lightyears ahead of where it has been since.. I don't know, 2008? Our defense probably needs a little work to be a real contender, and our goal-tending is of course a bit of a question mark.. but you think they'll be out of contention by the midway point of the season? Sheesh.
  15. Why not? I would welcome it. Even without Zadorov we have a good stable of defensemen, including some young guys who could eventually play in the Top 4. I'm not worried about his age.
  16. I had heard that before (about the graphic settings). Makes sense, but wouldn't a higher end PC also have a higher render distance? As in, someone could potentially see me across the map from a position that is "fogged out" on my screen? Either way, I agree that PC is the best option if you have the funds. I play a few games, but my laptop is pretty limited by a slow i7 and a mediocre mobile graphics cad (GeForce 840m). Civ 5, Sim City, and some Source engine shooters all seem to run pretty well. Other games not so much. As far as online gaming goes, I started out on console playing SOCOM: US NAVY SEALs on the ps2. I guess that's why I prefer the controller for shooter games haha.
  17. That's my problem with PC gaming. You pay two to three times more for a high-end computer than you do for a console. Overall it is a better experience -- better graphics, more customization with mods (although this is coming to consoles), etc -- but is it worth it? For me, no. Especially since most sports games no longer release PC versions. Console is great. I get that people like to be able to upgrade their PC, but that is not for me. I like an even playing field. On console everyone is using the same tools. On PC, people with a $1500 computer have a huge advantage.
  18. To be fair, the tweets I read were before the return was announced. But they were more of the "omg what are they doing moving Jones!!" variety.
  19. Can't make fun of the Bruins, but you can have a field day with their fans. Some of them are actually mad about trading Jones, as if it made any sense to keep him as backup.
  20. edit: nevermind because i totally forgot the phaneuf part of the deal haha
  21. i love phil. and i love the idea of phil in buffalo. and i love the idea of phil being in buffalo even more if toronto is paying for 25% of his 30 or so goals every year. 6m is a steal for kessel. and we'd certainly be able to dump him on another team a few years down the road if salary becomes an issue. we could even retain another 1m of that ourselves.. kessel for 5 mil to somebody should fetch a good return, even if he's 30, 31 by then. i wouldn't give up reinhart because i'm too attached already. but i would trade our 2016 first no questions asked.. not sure what else we'd be able to throw in. probably not much, so yeah, it's a pipe dream haha
  22. i've always felt that way, really. Outside of taking faceoffs, the forward positions aren't that different from one another. and if you get into a cycle game in the offensive zone, you better be pretty familiar with all three positions so you know where your passing options are, and also where to go when someone else has the puck. unless one guy is significantly better at draws, i don't think it really matters who plays where. it would be a little different trying to convert a winger to a center, but in this case, all three are centers -- they will be fine on the wing.
  23. Oduya or Sekera. really want Oduya
