  1. Agreed. Tuck rule makes absolutely zero sense to me. I won't complain about it because according to the rule book it was "the right call" but that doesn't mean the rule makes any sense what-so-ever. lol
  2. It's not even that the ref's call cost the Bills the game (in the long run it did, though), it's that we'll never know who should have won the game because some jackass referee randomly decided it was an incomplete catch? There was NOTHING about that catch that said incomplete. No Cinci player even contested that it was incompleted. If the ref doesn't decide to make that call, the play doesn't even get looked at because EVERYONE knew it was a completion. There was a very, very, very small "bobble" towards the end, but you could clearly see on one angle that SJ's hand was under the ball and it was secured all the way through the catch. The call makes no sense. The Bills should have had that first down, potentially could have put more points on the board, and Cinci doesn't get their score after the punt.
  3. I think the most likely thing to happen is Kelly, Pegula and Golisano (or some combination of the three) buy the Bills together. I don't think Pegula would be the "hands on" majority owner or anything, but he and Golisano could certainly do their part and probably let Kelly handle the football related operations. With salary caps in the NHL, it's not like Pegula throwing money at the Bills is going to stop him from paying close to the cap. If he wanted to make money he'd go dig an oil well.

  5. Not to toot my own horn, but that was pretty close! WHAT A GAME!!!! GO BILLS
  6. That it was! Since we have a Bills thread, I may as well post this... Bills win big in KC: http://www.thesportsbuff.com/?p=964
  7. A little insult to injury... Stan Galiev tweets that the mother of Sergei Ostapchuk (Lokomotiv player) has died of a heart attack upon hearing the news.
  8. barring chords on acoustic guitars hurts. that is my complaint of the day.
  9. i would highly doubt this. i'm sorry but i just can't see them moving the bills. it's a die hard football city and games sell out even when they suck. it's not like they're the atlanta thrashers where they suck AND have an empty arena every night... place is packed and they've GOT to be at least middle-of-the-pack, if not closer to the top, in merchandise sales. there are better options to move. this city would go mad if they lost the Bills.
  10. I was in my furnished basement and the cabinets started shaking all around me, then my chair started shaking. I thought it was ghosts and booked it upstairs... but facebook informed me 10 seconds later that it was an earthquake. B-)
  11. I spent the last 5 minutes google searching for an article or a reference to it.. I'm not a big football junkie so a lot of time I just go by "the word on the street." I couldn't find anything. But I definitely heard someone (albeit probably a bar or at a party full of drunks) say that Luck wasn't going to go out for the draft if the Bills had the #1 pick. That was this past year though, so perhaps it was just a comment in speculation.
  12. Also I heard that Luck still has a year of college eligibility left, and since he previously said he wouldn't want to play for the Bills, there's a possibility he could opt to spend another year in college and avoid being drafted by the Bills even if they "Suck for Luck" all season long & land the #1 overall... someone correct me if this info is wrong, pretty sure that's what I heard on the radio the other day.
  13. It was a sad performance by the o-line. Urbik has looked absolutely lost out there on several occasions. I don't know football in depth the way I know hockey, but even I could tell that he & Bell were getting worked over almost every down. Fitz seemed to throw pretty erratically, and it doesn't help having only one legitimate target in Steve Johnson... granted, we haven't seen Roscoe yet this pre-season (and he is a playmaker), but I'm not convinced that any of Jones, Nelson, Roosevelt, Easley, Davis/ whoever else they have will have much of an impact. I'd like to see Brad Smith play more at the WR position since we have a limited talent pool. Still, he is no deep threat, and the Bills are going to struggle without Evans out there opening things up. Surprised to see no wildcat offense in the Denver game... it was all the rage vs the Bears. Analysts have concluded that the Bills are going to use the wildcat a LOT this season.. so why no glimpse of it against the Broncos? Only thing I disagree with is Fred Jackson being better than Spiller... Spiller is not the same type of RB that Jackson is. I thought he had some decent runs and was explosive when he found a hole... but he is not a power guy or a between the tackles runner. He needs space and IMO would be better suited in a Reggie Bush type of role... lining up as a slot receiver in the spread, running reverses, or pitches. Bills would have been better off keeping Lynch and Jackson.. I thought they were a great duo in the backfield. Then they could utilize Spiller more in the ways I mentioned, rather than expecting him to be one to come in and make blocks etc.
  14. Merriman has denied the steroid allegations via twitter, saying it was a "routine stop at the border" and that he is disappointed about the rumors. (TheSportsBuff Blog Entry)
  15. To be honest I don't see the point in having players not able to be traded. If someone is willing to give up enough to land Crosby, why prevent it?
  16. about the Gold league-- trades on or off? If we can still trade, put me down for Gold..
  17.   +1 I sucked it up all season last year. I admit I got lazy and stopped editting my team toward the end when I was way out of playoff contention.. I was a bit overwhelmed because thought I could handle five different leagues, and by February/March I was really struggling to keep them all organized. This year I'm only doing two -- SabreSpaceBlue (if you let me) and my hometown one with 8 or 9 buddies. So I won't be inactive, even if I do finish in last place again :bag:
  18. Thanks for the responses and suggestions. :) I see Blue Moon all over the place so perhaps that will be my first endeavor... I don't drink coffee, but I'm half O'Malley, so I've had the occasional Guinness. I wouldn't say I'm a big fan of it but it wasn't terrible. I also had a Genny Cream Ale a few years back because my step dad bragged about it being the best beer ever. I didn't like it then, but I was probably 17 at the time, so maybe I'll give it another shot. I'll let you guys know what I think of some of these flavors once I try them..
  19. I'm pretty much a rookie when it comes to beer drinking. I mean, I've been pounding beers consistently since 2005 but I'm still very young and naive to the real wonders and magic of brewing. My evolution has gone something like this: Keystone Light-> Busch Light-> Keystone Regular-> Coors Light-> Bud Light-> most recently been drinking a little Miller Lite. So as you can see I haven't tried a large selection of beers. To be honest, I don't even like the taste of beer that much-- probably because of my limited amount of varieties tried -- but I drink it anyway to get drunk. As you might have guessed, I don't really have "the beer to relax on a summer night" or while I'm working in the yard -- I pretty much drink for two reasons: 1.) Parties (because I'm young enough to still feel cool about partying B-) ) and 2.) Watching or attending sporting events. But again, I pretty much just drink to get drunk, not so much to enjoy the flavors and taste of the product. I was actually a little blown away by some of you posters' attention to detail when it comes to the flavors and ingredients! On a side note I was a little surprised to see Flying Bison mentioned! In college, one of my graphic design professors was (still is probably) the guy who designs and prints all of their awesome labels, with the planes on them and such. Before going to school there, I had never heard of Flying Bison, and unfortunately I could never find it at the nearest Tops Market, so I was never able to try it before moving back to the southern tier. Awesome labels though, and awesome guy designing them! I learned a lot from him haha. But back on topic: What would be a couple good brands to try for a rookie drinker looking to broaden his horizons and learn to appreciate their flavors?

Definitely this. I was trying to think of a way to put it but couldn't find the right words. But their stardom plays a role, too. When Biron or McKenzie talks about that kind of stuff, it's awesome, because like you say -- it's nice to have a more personal connection with the people you follow and vice versa. And that Brad Richards/Tommy Lee story kind of relates to that too--it wasn't hockey related but certainly a fun, happy ending story to follow. But me? I don't think anybody is too interested in what I do on a day-to-day basis haha. And frankly if I tweeted more about my daily doings, people would probably think a lot less of me as a writer (than they already do =P) based on that information.

Well, true, but I don't think that's necessary for me. I don't usually use twitter to communicate with my friends, but I mean if somebody "Mentions" me in their tweet and asks me a question or whatever I'm going to try to respond regardless of the topic. And, for example, one of my favorite musicians just got a twitter account the other day so I tweeted something about him. But I don't think I do enough off-topic tweets to warrant having a separate account. I guess basically you just have to be careful who you follow..

When used right, twitter is a powerful tool. The problem is that people tend to think of it as an alternative to facebook and proceed to tweet the most irrelevant stuff about their everyday lives, and if you follow the wrong people your feed is clogged with a bunch of ###### you don't care about. Even worse is when two people who know each other tweet back and forth about ###### more easily handled with a phone call or a text message -- since most people are probably tweeting from their phone anyway. BUT when people use it primarily as form of media outlet / information sharing / etc, it is very useful and easy to follow. Admittedly, it's hard to tip-toe that line -- I mostly just tweet my blogs and retweet other Sabres/hockey related tweets I come across.. but there are times I'll have a little tweet convo about something not even sports-related, and that's when I feel sorry for the few followers I do have.
