  1. I do like him. I have high hopes for him. I've even praised him several times as my likely choice for rookie of the year. But if you haven't noticed that every shot he takes is slower than the slug he wore last year and that every long pass he makes is incredibly sloppy then you're not watching him under the same microscope I am. And although I haven't played competitive ice hockey (my highschool was way too small to have a team), I've played pickup/pond hockey and roller hockey my whole life. I think you misunderstood my statement, because it obviously takes more strength to make a hard, crisp, SMOOTH pass than it does to just float a puck 8 ft in the air and hope it lands flat.
  2. Wow how is Rob Ray gonna go and praise Lalime? I'll give you that the team didn't play great in front of him etc etc but it was an honest effort for most of the game and yet the deciding factor was once again a weak goal let in by Lalime. How many games does this guy have to blow before we get a new backup?
  3. LOL Rivet did everything besides shove his hockey stick up the guys ass and then acts surprised when the ref calls a penalty.
  4. Ennis has a terrible, terrible shot. I always thought maybe he was just holding on the puck too long, because on every shot or long pass he makes the puck flips around end over end and gives the receiving player no chance at handling the pass. I think the kid just doesn't have the strength to keep the puck flat. He floats everything.
  5. That's not realistic at all -- actually a tad ridiculous. I get your point, and most of the board shares your wish for a more physical style of play, but you can't just go after people for clean hits. I know we rarely get to see it, but hitting IS part of the game and is not beyond the rules. If you want the Sabres to take a retaliatory penalty for every hit then we're going to need to get a hell of a lot better on the PK, since that unit will spend at least 30 minutes a game on the ice.
  6. Not trying to take away from one of the only good things Stafford has done all year, but really? You want the Sabres to jump people everytime someone lays a clean hit on Vanek? If it's a dirty hit, then sure, I expect a response from somebody and what Stafford did is good... or maybe even if it's on Roy, someone who has actually produced, then maybe you try to protect him. But IDK about giving up powerplays everytime someone cleanly checks a mostly invisible player. I'm okay with Stafford doing it this time but seriously, I've seen other hits this year (not just Hjarlmarsson) that are a lot more questionable than that hip check... the hit on Vanek was as clean as they come. Great hit. No reason to give them a powerplay and potentially kill all the momentum they had up to that point. Fortunately it didn't hurt us too bad. I want to see emotion from this team too. I want to see them stick up for each otehr. I just think they need to pick their spots a little better.
  7. board is quiet tonight.. must be everyone has lost hope
  8. what a play by Ennis, Vanek should bury that
  9. who's idea was it to put Connolly in front of the net lol
  10. favorite family guy moment ever: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AA_5z3eCgGM
  11. IDK but I'd rather him at least try to play defense, despite how bad he is, rather than thinking he is an offensive defenseman who should join the rush and move up on the play every time down ice.
  12. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL CRAIG RIVET HE ISNT PLAYING FORWARD THIS SEASON????
  13. It's the moves he didn't make this off-season that are the problem, not the ones he did. I'm fine with every move (that I remember) that he made. Cutting Kennedy was still the best way to handle that situation (even more so now that we've seen 29 other teams pass on him twice), and out of all our "big" additions (Neidermayer, McCormick, Leopold, and Morrisson), it's safe to say that Morrisson has been the only real disappointment. You can argue that they should have kept Hank, but if the loss of Tallinder is really having that big of a negative impact on Myers game, then that, too, lies on the coaching staff. How many different guys has Myers been dominant with throughout his junior career? I didn't follow too closely but I'm fairly certain he didn't play with Tallinder at Kelowna or in the WJCs, and this season is the first year I've ever heard bad things said about him. Maybe he's having a sophomore slump, maybe he was overrated to begin with, maybe Hank did help him out more than I think -- the bottom line is he is an adult, a professional hockey player, and doesn't need Tallinder holding his hand to play a good game of hockey. Also when you have a guy like Ennis leading your team through the last few games of the season plus playoffs, any GM would expect to have him in the lineup the following season, so making room for him by cutting Kennedy was a necessity.
  14. LMFAO all i can do is laugh at this team anymore
  15. Was thinking the same thing.
  16. agreed, rick seemed to think Roy shot it high but I'm pretty sure Raycroft got a piece. lol @ the RJ intermission thing and lol more @ harry neale talking up regier
  17. Hey PA you hear Rick? "4:20 to go in the third..." he knows, he knows
  18. So is that guy sitting like 10th row in Atlanta's end that stands up and waves at the camera every time puck goes to the corner. lol
  19. he's got all four hundred and twenty of mine!
  20. why did Myers wait for the PP to expire and then fire the puck down the ice?? luckily the goalie played it but what the hell?
  21. I think Kaleta has been pretty good this year, I don't know. He's drawn some penalties and the line of Kaleta-Goose-Gerbe has, if nothing else, been a good "energy" line. But that penalty was just stupid.
  22. what a bonehead play by Kaleta at the end of the period... why take that penalty
