Lalime settled this one imo. he played pretty well all game but there's no excuse for that give away. the refs should have called those penalties but whatever, you don't have control over that. you do have control over what backup goaltender you sign, sucks that Darcy (Miller) chose this dumbass
Miller played extremely well his past few games. And while Enroth was far from "dominating" he was still pretty good, all things considered.
Anyway, got this gem from my friend via text:
"Hey you can't blame him, that pass was probably a better idea than giving it to Craig."
Lmfao once again Lalime proves he is no longer (if he ever was) a reliable goalie in the NHL, backup or otherwise. Can't believe I took so much flak in the off-season for wanting him gone.. geez.
????? Maybe I missed something but Connolly was back and was the only one in position to make a play, but it was virtually a three on one and the Tampa player deflected it in. The turnover his fault, but this "Connolly doesn't back check" has got to stop. There's a reason he was the forward out there in last night's 5-on-3 PK
I just don't see it. I understand he's not physical and is weak in the corners, but I don't see him "giving up on plays" and certainly didn't see many poor decisions on the powerplay tonight... Sabres were clicking red hot on the PP tonight and there was a lot of nifty, but crisp, passes between connolly, roy and ennis specifically.
At this point, though, aren't you just deflating your own argument? Do you really think that first goal was at all Connolly's fault? And if not, then what's it matter if he was a -1?
The +/- is a good stat but at times it can be very misleading.
Not much Ennis in the third period, is he on the bench? Wondering if maybe he was hurt, or if Lindy simply benched him because LA's 2nd goal was somewhat his fault? Or is it just because Connolly/Pommer/Hecht have earned their ice time tonight.
Ennis has definitely stood out, but that's not say the rest of the team has been bad. I think the Sabres are playing pretty well other than the penalties they took. And not to say that Miller hasn't been pretty good tonight -- he's made some big saves already -- but let's be honest, he's the only one you can blame on LA's goal. It was a great shot and I'm not saying he "should have" stopped it, but that one isn't on the defense or forwards... if anyone, it's on Miller.
The sky is not falling. It's 1-0. Who had that bad of a period (or that bad of a 5-6 game stretch) that you want Luke Adam called up?
More youth? Wasn't it just two years ago that the Sabres were "bad" because they were "too young?"
