Or just put them back in the draft, which seems more fair. You can bet if that was the case here, Vesey, would've signed with NSH ages ago rather than end up someplace like WPG or EDM. He told them leading up to the deadline that he was in. Then he said he was out, and refused to even meet with them. What a jerk, he wouldn't even give the team that drafted him, in the third round no less, the time of day. NSH/Poile are very well respected arpound the league. They take care of their players and are always contenders. I guess winning just isn't important to little Jimmy.

yeah I see some of his character traits in Vesey... and Matthews for that matter, although Matthews is supremely talented and I don't expect a fall from grace until he signs a long term deal that guarantees him financial security for life. He'll have nothing to play for at that point, eventually getting run out TOR, landing back in the desert and having maybe a few decent years there with Domi and Duclair infront of his hometown fans.
-
I don't think he's that great of a prospect, and there are red flags wrt his character. A young rebuilding team could do without his baggage.
-
I don't get why more of these don't go all the way to arbitration... something like 80-90% settle before their hearing.

I haven't attacked his character in a while so here it goes... What makes this more intriguing is that Vesey is a compulsive liar.... OK well maybe not compulsive, but he lied to NSH and what's to stop him from lying to the media, GMTM, Eichel, you, me, anybody for that matter. I won't be suprised if he decides not sign with anybody because he can't be guaranteed a certain jersey number, or locker room stall next to Jack, or his own mini-fridge in the kitchen, etc... He might even quit hockey because he has a Harvard degree and is softer than a warm stick of butter.... ok, well maybe not that soft, but he does need to be coddled like a newborn, which is pretty damned soft IMO. That said.... he's acting like a giant douche and if he signs with Boston I'll be happy.

I don't think this is right. He's on a two-way deal (all ELCs are 2-way), in the Roch he'd make 70k/yr as per his ELC so he would burn a year off his deal... right?
-
Instead of JRs he would go back to Sweden after 9 games, and then his team in Sweden would decide whether or not to loan him to the OHL (likely after their season is over). His ELC would kick in only if he stays in BUF after 9 games or they send him to Roch.
-
I'd like to see Kasdorf beat out Nilsson to backup Lehner. Let Ullmark play 60 games in Roch.

I realize this has nothing to do with Matthew's being greedy, but I still find it hilarious.

Zemgus Girgensons - What is his future here?
pi2000 replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
They could use him in EDM, maybe DAL and WSH, but I think he stays here thn ends up in LVK. -
Sounds like he shoulda choose arbitration?
-
I think so, yeah, maybe, probably not?

I'm sure GMTM's vision of long term deal doesn't line up with Risto's vision of long term deal. GMTM also said they'd look at a bridge if they reached a stalemate on a long term contract, so there's that. I have a feeling that's where they'll end up. WIthout arbitration rights, Risto really has no choice but sign, unless somebody swoops in and offers him a large deal. If they do, I don't expect GMTM to match it, maybe he works out a sign and trade, or something of that nature, could be interesting.
-
Like I said before, I expect this to drag on. GMTM didn't draft Rasmus, it's not clear if he thinks of him as a future 1A. I think GMTM wants a bridge, and Rasmus wants term. A 3 year bridge wouldn't get him to UFA status, but he would have arbitration rights as an RFA. If he can prove his 1A status on a competitive team after 3 years, then great, but he hasn't proved it yet like Ekblad and others who signed long term deals.

I've always said Matthews will play well his first few seasons. Once his ELC is up and he gets paid there will be a steep decline. As far as Vesey is concerned, I don't care where he signs as long as it isn't Buffalo.
-
He also agreed to sign with NSH. fixed

This should come as no surprise. Au$tin Matthew$

will he get booed in Buf? Nsh?

I don't believe a word that comes out of this kids mouth. He's going to Boston, which contradicts his claims of studying rosters and whatnot. Don't be fooled.
-
I think Montreal is still good and will make the playoffs. Weber is no spring chicken but he's got some tread left, with a healthy Price and Galchenyuk, they'll be in the mix.
-
He knows damn well who he wants to play for. He just needs the attention to feed his insatiable ego. He's a Jimmy first kinda guy, and always will be.

Well, Vesey scored 24 goals his senior season. Guess how many goals Drew Stafford scored his junior season (his last season in NCAA)? 24. Cased closed. Stafford = Vesey, Vesey = Stafford.
-
Think a softer version of Drew Stafford.
