  1. I wish JBOT would just come out and say that they're not entertaining the idea of trading ROR. He does everything out there... the ability for a coach to have a guy like that he can send out in just about any key situation, wether it be PP, PK, critical draw at the end of game or period... no matter who you get in return there will be a large hole to file somewhere in the lineup. The only way it makes sense is if they get back multiple NHL-level players... at least one that can match/exceed his offensive output, and another that can defend and win faceoffs. IMO, even with ROR, they need another guy who can defend, win draws and chip in offensively. They don't have that guy right now and as a result ROR is burned out by Christmas because of a combination of over-use and chronic vegan induced anemia and other vegan related mental and emotional issues. Studies show that vegetarians demonstrate a less optimistic view of the world around them as opposed to meat-eaters.

  3. Think about it. He doesn't need to go to work until late afternoon, so he has all morning to hit the range and even get in full rounds. Wake up at 7a head to golf course, play 18 or practice. Head to the rink at 3 or 4 to ref an NHL game. What a life.
  4. They've already played 4 games, and If this series goes the distance, it won't be over until over a week from now.
  5. No joke, I literally just had 3 fingers of Highland Park before reading this... and I smiled. This is going to be fun :) We know how much Matthews loves money... I would argue he loves it more than the game itself. Chasing money in Europe instead of bettering himself with an education. Questionable values + questionable character = questionable outcome.
  6. Depends on the picks, how deep the draft is at positions of need depth wise. For Buffalo, as frustrating as it may be, they could use all the picks they can get.
  7. That was much much worse than the Wilson hit on Marchessault.
  8. I was advocating for a Nylander trade last summer, while he still had some value due to his age and talent... that ship has sailed, and they'd be lucky to get a 2nd round pick for him at this point. They longer they wait, the less valuable he becomes. At this point they're probably better off just keeping around and hope he develops... but I'd be surprised if he makes the Sabres roster out of training camp.
  9. We'd need to overpay in the ROR deal to get CAR to take on his entire contract... which would free up money for Carlson. That said, I'm not advocating for a ROR trade... I think he's part of the solution moving forward... but.. if a deal needs to made then he would likely be part of a larger deal so they can move his entire contract off the books.
  10. ROR, Risto and SJ 1st for Hanifin, Ward and the #2 overall pick.
  11. The actual lottery draw... the process begins around the 7min mark with the opening of the briefcases. https://www.nhl.com/video/inside-the-draft-lottery-drawing/t-277350912/c-60176003

  13. pull-up cam: https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/watch-live-2018-nhl-scouting-combine-saturday-9-m-et/ Nice.... thanks! I say this every year.... why not put them on the ice and put them through some tests similar to the NFL combine. Time them sprinting, measure shot speed and accuracy, agility, passing accuracy, etc... Just seems strange that for a sport played on ice, the combine testing involves only off-ice testing. Makes little sense.... thanks Bettman, you jackass.
  14. He'd be a good fit in ANA or WPG or NSH or TBL. WPG definitely has the cap space. TBL and ANA would be a stretch cap wise. NSH could fit him in after they trade Rinne to BUF :)
  15. Guhle, Ullmark, Asplund, Bailey, Baptiste, CJ Smith, Casey Nelson, Pu, Borgen, Olofsson, etc.. His drafts and undrafted FA signings weren't terrible... there's probably at least 5 future significant NHL players in that group... and none of them 1st round picks. That's pretty good over a 3 year period. Edit: OK, not all of those guys were drafted/signed by TM, but I'm too lazy to look them all up.
  16. Would be nice to watch some hockey on a Friday night... but no, let's wait another day. Thanks Bettman, you jackass.
  17. Well stated, I generally agree with all points. This team isn't as far off as we think. They lost 20 something games last season by one goal. It wasn't like they were getting blown out of the building night in and night out. They would play down to their competition and never push back when they needed to. Part of that is youth, part of that is leadership and coaching. I'm willing to give Housley 20 games to show some significant improvement in play because he hasn't shown to be part of the solution.
  18. The difference is that Vegas is currently in the Cup final. There is no pressure to rush any of their prospects into the NHL, they have the luxury of letting them bake and develop for however long they wish, while Buffalo really really really needs some of their prospects to make the jump this year and be significant contributors.
  19. That's good to know and re-assuring. Thank you.
  20. Well, with all the draft picks they have stockpiled and young talent in their system, they'll be winning for a long long time.
  21. Did they check Dahlin's hereditary arthritis? I'm assuming that came up in his physical. His brother retired at age 20 because of it.
