the only guy is nylander and I don't think the Islanders have enough pics to offer sheet him

I'll be shocked if he signs for <11m, and don't see a deal getting done this summer.... my guess is it drags on into the season and becomes a distraction (Toronto media), ultimately they buckle and give in to his contract demands before he reaches RFA status. Expectations will be raised because of the large salary, which he'll find impossible to live up to... ultimately getting run out of town and landing in his home state where he'll be welcomed with open arms.

Oh boy... she's one of the those.

Karin Housley is the Yoko Ono of the Sabres. I swear to God, she's going to be the downfall of this team... if she hasn't been already.
-
I think Housley is a fine X's and O's coach... but can he get everyone to buy in and play at a level above and beyond what they believe they're capable of? Hmmm.

If Karin (and Phil) were democrats.... Would they have hired him in the first place? Would they have hosted a party and donated money to her campaign? Would Phil have been fired by now? ...these are the questions that are raised, and seeing how fervently they're supporting her.... it's like the answer to the first question is "No".

Probably trying to change his luck wrt injuries.

The Knights should've used Roman numerals instead of numbers (Arabic).

Do they have to clear waivers to start the season in Roch?

Which Sabres will take a big step BACK this season?

McCabe was.playing his best hockey right before he got hurt last season... he was a tire fire before that, but something clicked and he was playing his best hockey for about 2 weeks before he became crippled. -
UPDATE: Sam Reinhart signs 2-year extension -- $3.65MM per year

You can't figure out linemates by looking at a chart. Is all about chemistry, meshing well, having a sense for where your linemates are on the ice. A chart can't tell you that. -
Depends on your definition of "issues". If the issues are because of terrible performance after terrible performance and some guys are pointing fingers, other guys are burying their heads, etc... then that's one type of issue that goes away with winning. You heard it in ROR's quote about losing love of the game.because the losses kept piling up.... that doesn't happen if they're winning and he's probably still here.
-
You're suggesting that the Sabres locker room issues are unrelated to losing. I would disagree.
-
it's July, this is what we do. what kind of puppies?
-
Only one thing will fix the lockerroom issues... winning. We didn't hear anything about a toxic lockeroom in early October. In my experiences, once losing sets in, the lockeroom becomes a very uncomfortable place for all involved. Everybody has their own way of dealing with losing, some are vocal, some internalize it.. others look for somebody to blame.
-
I disagree.... this like your boss paying to host a polical event in your name.... actually, that's exactly what it is. The Sabres are not a political organization.... for the same reason you shouldn't engage in political discussions in the work place, Pegula has no business mixing politics with his hockey team. There's a conflict of interest there. Exactly, what if Eichel or Dahlin have strong politcal opinions that don't line up with Pegula's? That right there is reason to ask for a trade because they don't want to be employed by somebody they strongly disagree with politically. Some people are that devote.

This is a major concern... makes it even more unlikely Housley would be fired at any point this season no matter where he takes this team.

Step back? Casey Nelson. Guy has maxed out his potential, he's already 26, and I didn't think he was all that great last season but everybody liked his game because he was consistently average on a last place team. I wouldn't be surprised if he's scratched most nights. -
It's possible Buffalo could have not one but two Calder nominees this season.
-
That was great, thanks. You'd think there would be a function that combines all these individual metrics into a single index, eg a power index of some sort... that would have superior predictive power when analyzing matchups.

I have a Gary Galley goathead.
