  1. They're the same age, have 5 years left on identical deals and could use a change of scenery.
  2. Bob Miller retired for health reasons.... he had heart issues, but is generally in fine condition. If they find something off.with RJs ticker there is no way he comes back.
  3. No. He would probably been napping on the couch with the game on in the background... and his grandkids feeding him scotch and sodas.
  4. How would folks feel about an Okposo for Lucic deal? Straight up.
  5. Because some day he's going to get wheeled out on a gurney during a game.
  6. Wheeler took a Byfuglien shot directly to the stomach/ribs and could barely crawl off the ice... Best case that looks like a bruised rib, not good for WPG.
  7. I love RJ, but he needs to hang it up. It's not worth the risk to his health.
  8. Tough break for him, he was playing well.
  9. Was forced to watch the Ducks broadcast and John Ahlers mispronouncing Dahl-IN all game... holy crap that was annoying. Couple thoughts... - Hope RJ is OK, just learning about this. - Avg shot distance for the Ducks was 47ft. 32ft for BUF. Nice job clearing rebounds and protecting the house by the D. - That Skinner goal was ginormous. - I like the energy Elie brings vs Pominville in the lineup.
  10. No. If it was a sensitive family matter they wouldn't have terminated his contract... they'd probably give him some leave of absences to square away his family issues before returning to the team, and would have announced it as such. The contract termination, in a secretive manner, translates to likely legal issues.
  11. One other thing.... the playoffs need to wrap up before June. Start the regular season 2 weeks earlier in mid-Sept.
  12. My guess is some type of legal issues... gambling/drug ring, child pornography, sex trafficking, blackmail, animal abuse... has to be something offensive enough to force JBOT's hand, while at the same time keeping silent due to legal obligations. Again, I'm not accusing him of anything, but it's fair to speculate because of the secretive nature of the entire ordeal.
  13. Yeah, it doesn't make sense BUF would terminate his contract just because he wanted to go to rehab, or seek medical help for dperession or some other mental illness.... The NHLPA would be in an uproar. Oshie's comments raise more questions IMO.
  14. Watch the 3rd period of the BUF/FLA game.... or the BUF/PHI game... or the TOR/FLA game tonight.... teams get down and there's no spark to ignite a comeback. The bench just waives the white flag and the head coach acts puzzled why there was no push back.
  15. McCabe was a much better defensive player than Guhle at his age. Guhle reminds me more of Kalinin.
  16. Maybe they can hire Berglund as a skills coach to work with the swedes after practice.
  17. That brings back some memories.... my Dad used to say "hey, a hockey game broke out"... anytime there was a fight in any other sport we were watching.
  18. Poor guy,... had to endure all that suffering. Hopefully the $27mil helped him deal with his depression.
  19. Monday Feb 18th. Mark your calendars.
  20. Intermediate sticks have a thinner shaft than senior sticks.... and junior sticks are toothpicks. However, I've encountered 60-65 flex senior sticks (with a regular senior width shaft). The only time my boys ever used a junior stick was when they were mites or younger... put intermediate sticks in their hands in squirts, because yeah, they're noodles.
  21. A fight is the only play where ALL fans in attendance rise out of their seats.... not just fans of whichever team scored. The game is turning into a skills contest... which some people like. Don't get me wrong, I like watching skill plays... but I also want to see some emotion, some real hatred between the benches. When Buffalo went down 4-2, if this was 10 years ago... you can bet there would've been a fight within a few minutes of that 4th goal... just to try and energize the Sabre bench and get some momentum back. That simply doesn't happen anymore and we see teams simply throw in the towel when things aren't going their way.... and as a fan it's disappointing.
  22. William Karlsson scored 43g last season and got a one year $5.25m deal, largely because his shooting % was outrageously high at 23.4% AND he was a RFA. He's on pace for about 30g this season, shooting at 17%. Skinner is on pace for 64g this season and is shooting 23.4%... same % as Karlsson last season. For that reason, I suspect they won't offer him anything over $7.5m. $7.25m would be my guess since it's obvious he really enjoys playing in Buffalo.
  23. Guhle doesn't look as good now that the overall talent level on defense is improved. A few years ago he looked great... comparatively. I think he'll be a career AHL depth guy... unless he suddenly blossoms in his mid-late 20s.
