  1. I met him when he played for the Norfolk Admirals last year and asked him why he didn't like Bflo. He said he called it a ghost town because of the boarded up businesses and because he didn't see as many people bustling about like you do in other cities' downtowns. He might've been blowing smoke, but to me he seemed pretty genuine.
  2. That's the way I heard it too. And for the first time in the history of history, I agree with Millbury. Edit: I agree with Millbury in that if Nolan isn't 100% on board, Murray needs to help him by making a decision for him.
  3. Jay-Zee's company - Yormark's must be headed to the sports management business.
  4. Don't know what Nolan's thinking, but I gotta believe it's in his best interest to accept the contract. It took him so long to get back into the league, and it seems that he's now considering walking away from it? Career suicide. I disagree with your take that he would be a fall guy - everybody knows the skill level of this team. Further, doesn't it seem like Murray's no BS style would mesh very well with Nolan's approach? We'll find out soon enough if Ted's too butt-hurt to handle the PLF situation professionally. I hope he does but if he doesn't, it's not the end of the world. A lot more hinges on what Murray does between now and next October than whether Nolan leaves today, next week, or after the season.
  5. Who's turned on Nolan? If he's too unprofessional to deal with a friend's seperation from the organization, then why would a Sabres fan want him to stay? If he's just frustrated and needs a couple of days to sort it out and signs the contract, then it's all good. Not everyone sees this situation to be as melodramatic as you do.
  6. Here's what we know: Patty reportedly resigned and has not publicly challenged that assertion. Nolan is butt-hurt. Murray only wants players, coaches, and management in Buffalo who want to be associated with the team. Here's what I think: As a player I loved Patty. On camera I liked Patty. But the bottom line is that he quit. With all due respect Mr LaFontaine, GTFO and don't look back. And if Nolan decides to walk, then screw him too. I am quite confident in Murray's ability to find a replacement.
  7. Yes, because I'm sure T-Pegs comes on here daily to give a flying ###### about your "disgust." /sarcasm
  8. Thank goodness they're playing tonight. The kvetching about the on-ice product has GOT to be better than the kvetching I read in the Mgmt Shakeup thread...
  9. I hate that the Sabres have gotten to this place, but you better prepare yourself soon. It's happening.
  10. I definitely think Miller should play his normal rotatation right up until he is traded, but to be fair to Millbank, he's not alone in thinking that way. I think it's been said here by some posters, and I read an article on sitting him after the Carolina game.
  11. I still fantasize about getting my hands on an EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle.
  12. Stop it. You're Canadian. We know you are incapable of hate.
  13. It's his number from his days at Michigan State (and maybe before). For obvious reasons, he didn't want to wear 39 in Bflo. That's the spirit! :clapping:
  14. USA-Canada should be a good one. Too bad I have to be at work because part of me would love to pick up H.o.m.o Milk and Kraft dinner for lunch and then throw back a mickie or two-four while watching on my Chesterfield. But I won't because the other part of me is American and knows how to ###### speak English. EDIT: The filter blocked what our friends accross the border call homogenized milk!
  15. I recall "Juneau, you Smehlik Zhitnick."
  16. It's on USA Network, 3rd's about to get started. Edit: Forgot i'm watching it delayed on the DVR. It's probably well into the 3rd now...
  17. I thought Miller played well. Square to the shooter and I don't recall seeing any fat rebounds. The shot that beat him was a rocket, so there's no shame there. It appeared to me it went off of a defenseman's stick but I couldn't tell for sure and watching it at a bar meant I couldn't rewind and look more closely. For those of you who recorded it, was it deflected or was that just the Bloody Marys playing tricks on my eyes?
  18. Anything other than a shutout and I'll be a wee bit disappointed. Go USA!
  19. The only other hockey fan at my job is a Pens fan. According to him, Pens fans "back home" and on message boards can't stand him. They seem to think they'd be better with a more Nolan-type coach.

  21. Keep scoring USA, run up the goal differential!
