  1. Among his cousins are Keith and Matthew Tkachuk, and GMTM does like NHL bloodlines, so there's that.
  2. I agree with O'Reilly's own assessment of his play: he was useless. http://www.wgr550.com/pages/22052806.php?contentType=4&contentId=17928223
  3. True. IMO opinion a challenge should only be an option if the offside directly led to a goal like on a stretch pass or two-on-one. If the offensive team has the puck in the zone for more than five seconds, there should be no right to challenge an offsides.
  4. Are they really playing inspired? I linked to an article on the previous page that explains it in more detail but the cliff note version is: unsustainable goal tending and scoring numbers, they rarely carry play, and are generally outshout by ridiculous margins. As anti-tank as I am, the numbers all point to them falling back to earth relatively soon.
  5. I'm anti-tank but you probably won't have much to reevaluate: http://www.thescore.com/news/659056
  6. Transparency. Shining a light to right a wrong. Potential criminal charges. I can't think of a reason it shouldn't have been released.
  7. Just a couple of random thought about the McEichels: I'm sure Eichel would look more dominant playing teenagers. I'm also sure McDavid wouldn't look quite as good playing against young men in their twenties.
  8. Well, I told you the league didn't start when the Oilers drafted Gretz - and it didn't! What more do you want?! Forgot that they "selected" him but didn't technically draft him. Good memory guys, I stand (sit) corrected.
  9. I agree with what you're saying. But scratching Strachan and not Meszaros to dress Benoit tells me Ted's in on it. Okay, not really, but it sure seemed to me that Strachan earned another game a helluva lot more than Meszaros did.
  10. Call me a traditionalist because I don't like it at all. I'm not over the Wales and Campbell conference names being changed much less Adams, Smythe, Patrick, and Norris division names. There is something cool about learning what the men attached to those names did in their hockey careers. After all, the league didn't start when the Oilers drafted Gretzky.
  11. The AHL's new Leggio Rule: Goalie gets game misconduct, replacement goalie has to face penalty shot taken by any skater on the ice at the time of the call.
  12. I would, too. Buffalo Sabres ‏@BuffaloSabres 43s43 seconds ago Nolan says Foligno is out for tonight, same lineup as the other night vs. Detroit. #MONvsBUF
  13. Buffalo Sabres ‏@BuffaloSabres 5 minutes ago Forwards on the ice for AM skate: Deslauriers, Flynn, Gionta, Girgensons, Kaleta, Larsson, Mitchell, Moulson. #MONvsBUF
  14. I heard Price isn't getting the start tonight. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24784780/nhl-daily-picks-red-wings-rangers-meet-in-original-six-showdown
  15. That makes him a Scot, not insane.
  16. It would be tough because a ref would have to determine intent on every breakaway (or play) when the net came off but overall I agree with what you're saying. I thought this time was funny because it was a once-in-lifetime thing. Hopefully. Did you notice him signalling for interference right after the play? I wonder if he knocked the net off its moorings out of anger after he felt he - or one of his forwards right before the breakaway - was interfered with. Or perhaps he expected a call but thought the players were ignoring a whistle and still coming at him? I dunno.
  17. It's not the NHL, but David Leggio (sorta) broke up a 2-on-0 breakway all by himself.
  18. I thought he would work out but just needed some time but the floating and total lack of situational awareness in his own zone that soured me.
  19. This. In fact, Horton was going to retire and Punch talked him into one more year by buying him a new sports car, a Pantera from now-defunct Italian automaker DeTomaso, to return for one more season. And yep, that was the car he was driving that flipped and threw him 200'. I was too young at the time but my dad later told me he believed Punch's subsequent guilt led to his feuds with pretty much all of the players - especially Schoenfeld - and his eventual firing a few years later.
  20. You said he's giving more than he's getting. I think I made it clear that I think 3.9MM is pretty fair for the type of player he his; he'll be okay... Bingo. And bingo again. Enough with treating losing hockey games like it's a contagious and chronic medical condition.
  21. Chicago realized players aren't pre-programmed robots. They understood good players will be part of the solution while bad ones will be replaced by young guys with more skill.
  22. He's an all-guts player, no doubt. And he's getting paid $3,900,000.00 per year so let's not act like he's in Buffalo doing charity work. And given his character, I'm pretty sure he'll play a role in bringing the Sabres up, not the other way around (unless GMTM gets a trade offer he can't refuse).
  23. Ha! I got tripped up at the ensure part didn't look at it very closely. Well played!
