  1. It could be that I read it differently than you wrote it, but here's what I saw: You paid, you went, you received nothing out of it, and the team is to blame for that. "Woe is me" and "how could they do this to me after all I've done!" The "grow a pair" means stop allowing yourself to be a victim. If that means dumping your tix, then so be it, but just stop with the "I've given all I have to give" routine. I think you are mistaking ambivalence for incompetence.
  2. nfreeman, you're probably a cool dude in the real world and we'd probably have a good talk about football, hockey, and Bflo. But I gotta tell you, the bolded part above is not flattering. Did you enjoy any aspect of any of those games? The tailgates? Hanging with friends? If not, what's the point? You renew your tix like it's some act of great charity, feel betrayed for whatever reason when they don't win, but repeat the process for 15 years. Whose fault is that? Seriously dude, it makes me want to buy you a beer and tell you to suck it up and grow some balls.
  3. Chucky doesn't use run of the mill adjectives? His vocabulary is limited to run of the mill adjectives. I heard him with Murph about an hour after the pick. Said he was excited to be a Bill, followed the Bills as a kid because he liked the colors, knows who Perry Tuttle is, liked Bledsoe and Moulds, and is looking forward to getting to work. Did he say anything of note this morning?
  4. I'd rather see them take Matthews or Lewan if they are there (Robinson will probably be the first OT off the board, right?). Ebron might end up being the greatest TE in the history of TEs for all I know, but I think it's more important to address OT than TE. That said, Ebron is a fascinating prospect and I wouldn't flip out if he and Benjamin are Bills tomorrow morning. I've raised an occasional eyebrow with some of Bflo's picks over the years, but I like to think the pros know more than me so I don't get too worked up about it. What say you? How would you feel if Benjamin and Ebron are the two guys selected tonight?
  5. I would and I'd be surprised if he's still available at 41
  6. Regardless of position, I'm just hoping they pick a guy that will be able to contribute immediately Just curious, what're everyone's plans this evening? Are you going to: Watch the draft and check the boxscores periodically, or Watch the B's/Habs game and keep up with the draft online, or What draft? #becauseitstheCup Neither/have other plans I'll be going with Option 2.
  7. I think we can all agree that striking and/or physically engaging somebody in the real world is generally pretty stupid. And it's even more so when it's a male doing it to a female. But I don't think it necessarily makes him an ######. It might make him guilty of losing his temper or being hammered or losing temper while being hammered or having anger management issues or whatever. If it turns out it's a chronic thing, I might change my mind, but it could just be a one-time drunken lapse in judgment, couldn't it? And as d4rk said, now they both have to deal with the consequences of what ended up being a pretty ugly night. (NB, if I wasn't 100% clear, please understand I am not saying violence against women is in any way excusable).
  8. If he pushed her while trying to his phone back, would that make a difference that he didn't actually hit her?
  9. My mom passed away when I was in my (very) early 20s and I would give every last penny I have away if it meant I'd get to spend one more day with her. It's nice to see you and the others taking advantage of the time you do have together.
  10. I know the IHL tried very hard over a few years to make themselves a peer of the 'A' but thought they were considered a half-step behind in terms of overall skill and lacked the prestige of the 'A.' And I didn't realize anybody considered the 'I' to be the primary feeder league. My own personal bias at work, I suppose. EDIT: In somewhat related news, former 'Yotes CEO Mike Neely will now be the director of the Fiesta Bowl. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2014/05/05/nealy-tabbed-as-fiesta-bowl-executive-director/8722863/
  11. From the article: Wait. What?
  12. Good stuff, plus he ends it with a funny reference to Kaine and Bflo.
  13. The great irony here is that PK's brother plays in the A for the Providence Bruins
  14. If he uses carom as a verb, it means to ricochet or rebound off of.
  15. Hey LTS, I was definitely one of those who thought you meant something other than you evidently did. Thanks for the clarification.
  16. I posted this on TSW and thought the Bills fans here might get a kick out of it, too. It's a quick game of Who Said It featuring Sterling and Trump. Check it out at http://www.motherjones.com/politics/2014/04/donald-sterling-donald-trump-quiz
  17. Good luck, Alex. And yep, I too believe he knew - whether he was told or saw it coming - that he wouldn't be in the plans going forward.
  18. I lost track of who was arguing what and I'm too lazy to go back and look, but if I understand what you're saying - that disrespect is only an affront to people because of the importance of respect in gang culture - then you couldn't be more wrong. Ever heard of the Hamilton-Burr duel? Two rich white politicians who had been going at it for 10 years until one day... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burr%E2%80%93Hamilton_duel Shooting a dude because he wrote bad things in a paper? Yeah, that's totally gangtsa.
  19. I think the Ducks-Kings series will be a good one. Now that the first round is over... In the East I'm not doing too bad. I hit on the B's winning in 5 and had Montreal and Pittsburgh advancing. I didn't think the NYR would take out Philly, so I have 3 winners advancing. I thought the Avs would take out the Wild and was hoping the Blues would make it to the WCF, so my bracket's busted out west. I did hit on the Kings winning in 7 and the Ducks advancing. Using the scoring the NHL is using, I have 50 out of a possible 80 points. How busted is your bracket?
  20. When you say "thugs," what do you mean? Members of a Boston Irish street gang? If so, how do they dress?
  21. It would be considered in a criminal or civil proceeding, but this is the court of public opinion and the rules are very different. Th bottom line is that there are expectations of morality placed upon people in certain positions. Nobody cares if it's Chuck the bricklayer saying those things, but we - and I think rightly so - hold people in positions of authority to higher standards.
  22. The 1st was just ratified 225 years ago. Give it time.
  23. I suppose you have a point, but I think there are some important distinctions to be drawn between slavery's institutionalized racism from the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, and owning a sports team in the 21st. First and foremost: A wealthy landowner needed slaves to keep his plantation competitive, a slumlord doesn't need to own an NBA team. I never forgave the NBA either. And because of that, I pay so little attention to it that I didn't know Oklahoma City had a team until last year!
  24. Interesting. The LA Clippers of 2014 are so far removed from the early 70s Braves I don't associate one with the other. Plus, basketball sucks. :w00t:
  25. I'm pretty sure you're the only person on the planet connecting those dots.
