  1. There is only 6 defensemen listed on the roster so ya my thought is likely Power is good to go soon. And they will just kick the can down the road for sending someone down Likely they get Ellis in to practice on Wednesday, Power tests it and is G2G, then they make a corresponding move then. Likely Georgiev on waivers I will say its insane we didnt claim Thrun or Middleton just to come in and take a spot for a week or two
  2. I bet Kozak goes down when Greenway is back Johnson/Bryson goes down when Power comes back likely Georgiev goes on waivers when Kesserling is back. Then when UPL comes back it will be a tough call, so many will say Geertsen goes down, but I dont think they do that. I do assume UPL is a long term thing here
  3. Sure, yes instead of Georgiev, but did he want to play here? Who is to say they didnt try? He signed a PTO in Toronto so maybe he wanted the opportunity to play with the team that brought him up
  4. I am more confident in a guy who was one of the best goalies in the AHL last year with great numbers then Georgiev who was awful awful awful last year. Plus there is a small chance we could catch lighting in a bottle here. Ellis was is a year older then Levi so right at that key time where goalies catch fire! This could be a sneaky good pick up! And lets face it there is not any options out there other then this, is Hellybuck available? Is Tampa trading Vasilevsky? Is the Islanders trading Sorokin? No! These players dont get moved almost ever! This has a real chance to be an improvement. I know we all like to ***** on KA for everything he does but this is an improvement. Ellis is better then Georgiev right now, full stop. What this also allows is it allows Levi to stay as the starter in Roch, cause if they are done with Georgiev (which I will bet my left nut that they waive him tonight) Then someone needs to back up Lyon and that would have to Levi, and maybe he sits on the bench for too long. This way we bring a goalie that is better then Georgiev but still allows Levi to develop. And maybe we catch lightning in a bottle here. It is more likely that Ellis becomes something then Georgiev suddenly becomes good again. Sorry for ranting, I just do truly think the team is better with this player on it, not substantially, ill be honest. But better, with a chance to be really good.
  5. Ellis has to be on the NHL roster now that he was claimed. If we want to send him to the minors he has to go waivers again, and if he clears, then St Louis can claim him back, just like we did with Reimer last year
  6. Levis stats in the AHL last year: 2024-25 Rochester Americans 42 25 13 4 2.20 .919 7 0 Ellis's stats in the AHL last year: 2024-25 Springfield Thunderbirds 42 22 14 2 2.63 .922 3 0 Keep in mind Roch was one of the best teams in the league and Springfield barely broke the .500 line. This is a good pick up! We all saw what Georgiev was....***** So this a good hedge to those bets Lyon Ellis Until UPL is back, which my guess may be awhile, then UPL has to compete to unseat one of these two. Georgiev can go on waivers and if he is claimed too bad! I would almost bet my life savings that no one would claim him! We are all screaming about how crappy he is and then everyone is scared he is gonna get claimed on waivers? No way, Georgiev will clear and he can go back up Levi in Roch.
  7. https://thehockeywriters.com/blues-ahl-goalie-colten-ellis-provides-team-with-a-future-option-in-net/ The only thing for me is he basically sounds like Levi Now with him getting claimed he will have to be on the NHL roster or we have to waive him, and if he clears then St Louis can take him back
  8. This helps us in the Tuch negotiations in my honest opionon
  9. I actually think this helps us in the Tuch negotiations
  10. This is from Sportsnet: Terms of the deal were not initially available. However, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported on the 32 Thoughts Podcast earlier Monday that a short-term contract was expected. "I'm not even convinced it's gonna be as long as four years, if he signs. I think it could be less than that. And as I've been saying all the way along, I think it's going to be lower than many people expect, below $16 (million), if he signs. I would be surprised if it's close to that," Friedman said. Meanwhile, Sportsnet's Mark Spector reported the salary could land "quite possibly in $15 million range" annually, which would be lower than Kirill Kaprizov's record-setting eight-year, $136 million ($17 million AAV) contract with the Minnesota Wild. If this is the case this actually would be really good for the Sabres cause it would show even the best player in the world takes less money to play where he wants to play, so maybe Tuch would do the same
  11. Its been confirmed he has signed, no word on AAV, years or total money yet I'm going to predict 20 million per season on a 8 year deal? 160 Million total?
  12. Mcdavid has just singed his extension, no word yet on AAV, years or total money
  13. With this Defense the Sabres should claim someone of waivers to just come in and Temporarily take a spot. It was mentioned before but the Leafs put Thrun on waivers and Colorado put Keaton Middleton on waivers I'd take Keaton Middleton all day, he is Jacob Middletons brother who plays for Minnesota, now while Jacob is the much better player, they both play the game the same way. They are both there teams toughest players and best fighters. I would welcome Middleton with open arms! He can play third pairing minutes until Kesserling is back and then if we dont want him anymore try to put him on waivers to get to Roch, or truthfully just keep him as the 7 and let Bryson go. If we are trying to be tougher to play against, here is a perfect way to do that
  14. Great to see Benson back! Hopefully Sammy is g2g by Thursday, and Power I really hope its just a rest day, if we are missing our entire second D pairing for any length of time that is going to really be devastating
  15. Anyone have practice updates yet? Who is skating and isn't? and who is taking line rushes?
  16. Yes all day! And not just that you hurt the depth of your biggest divisional rival
  17. This is really too bad, hopefully the week off for Kesserling is good for him upl I think we all sorta came to the conclusion he would miss a bit of time when Georgiev was sidelined Byeam Power Benson Greenway all good to go is awesome but Kesserling man that hurts, he was the off season acquisition, need him healthy asap
  18. I like the forward lines Benson comes back in and Krebs moves back to Danforths spot then when Greenway comes back he takes one of the 4th line wing spots and the other is between Beck and Geertsen and honestly Iโ€™m fine with Beck sitting for Geertsen most games, Beck is a good hitter and forechecker but he doesnโ€™t fight at all, and we will need the fighting honestly watching the pre season so far there has been so many fights! And teams are loading up on big tough players, the Florida effect if you will
  19. If Byram and Power are out for a short period why not give Mrtka a couple games, he earned it
  20. We will need Geertsen and Dunne in the line up when we play Rempe and Jeannot in Boston and Brady in Ottawa and the Xjeha brothers in Montreal
  21. Ya this bothered me so much.... and there will 100 percent be a time where this huge banner hides a key play It truly boggles the mind that they could put it where it is
  22. Yes he has to be. I agree he has looked amazing and really looks exactly like the kind of player we have been clamoring for. But he has only played 40 games in junior cause he came over mid season last year. I would personally send him back to junior and let him dominate, I would hope that his team maybe has an ok and then doesnt make the play-offs, then he can go to the Amerks for an extended playoff run. He then could be the big piece for the Amerks next year playing in all situations, maybe getting a call up here or there. And then in 2 years you could have a situation where he steps right into the top 4 of Buffalo. Maybe even as a Byram replacement with Dahlin
  23. I agree with all of this, Helenius looks like he had a bright future, he should take a full time spot next year Mrtka is gonna be a stud. He could take a full time spot next year and not look out of place at all i would not be suprised if both Dunne and Geertsen are ticketed for the roster. And frankly we have needed this for a long time
