Sabres trade Sam Lafferty to Chicago for a 2026 6th Round Pick
ponokasabre replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
It’s happening! -
Suprised we got the 3 year term for him, that’s good, I think he probably is as good as JbD
-
My only thought on this is JBD said he wanted to go somewhere where he can play regularly and KA told him he would be the 7th dman here also I do know he said Bryson is fine sitting, and is a good soldier about it, so he probably knows he is the 8th dman and it’s fine with that and won’t make a fuss im guessing we sign a guy like Perbix or Brendan Smith to take the JBD role, I’m assuming that is already “figured out”
-
Get rid of Tarasenko just to bring Kane back lol hoping it’s like 5 million per year
-
I’d be shocked if it’s not rust I’d take that all day lol
-
With JBD now not qualified I think it makes lots more sense and Perbix is a big mean SOB, fits there new “style”
-
I have shifted my predictions for July 1, Byram resigned short term Bryan Rust aquired for picks and prospect Nick Perbix signed as depth dman small chance Lafferty goes and Tanner Jeannot signs
-
He has played for Jarmo before so id lean on that connection. Romanov came in a 6.5 per year and Dobson just extended at 9 million per year, he will be inbetween those I would say. If you can get Gavrikov at 7 million per year you do that all day. He made 5.875 last year. And feel free to deffer money on the deal like Carolina did with Jarvis and Toronto did with Tavares to lower the cap hit
-
Id take a run at signing Gavrikov, he solves all your problems and can be next to Dahlin for the next 7-8 years, If you do that you can look to cut Lafferty and move Samuelssen. I think there some decent vet options that could replace Sammy on the cheap, Nick Perbix being the perfect example to me, or Brian Doumalin I do see the Sabres signing a fighter this year, my wish is Jeannot but I just dont know if there is room for him as he would need to play every day. But I think Gilbert will be brought back or Brendan Smith (a Lindy guy) that has been his tough guy before

Chad D: expect a Byram trade at or around the draft

Rust seems like the defacto option if we dont get one in the Byram deal. His no trade is gone tomorrow, we have been rumored to want him and Pitt has openly said they want picks and prospects for there veterans so we could easily do that I could live with a Byram for a physical stay at home dman for Dahlin and then Rust for picks and prospects. Rust has had a bit of an injury bug lately but he is still an elite forward that does all his damage around the net. I dont know enough about him to say if he is physical or not, id hope hes like Zucker. And Zucker would know him well as he has played with Pitt in the past. The biggest question is has he hit that post 30 wall and how inflated are his numbers playing with Crosby -
The Maccelli love is crazy, he is not a good player, and def not what we are trying to build here

If this was real I would cry, it’s about as perfect as possible which makes it not possible lol -
Macceli traded to Toronto, Marner replacement lol
-
Tarasenko to the Wild for Future Considerations

Ya if he ends up staying there really is no issue with that, especially on a short term bridge, he will be motivated to play well and while he isn’t the biggest guy he played pretty tough last year and never shied away from anything personally if Voronkov is on the table, you do that all day, it is almost impossible to get guys like him If they sign Gavrikov it sure does -
I just don’t see how a deal with LA makes sense Cause if they need 2 defensmen they aren’t shipping one out in a Byram deal I mean Laffierie is a good player but not that great, Trevor Moore is a third liner and no way they move Byfield Maybe I just don’t know there roster or prospects enough
-
Hmmm I actually could live with that I still think you would need to add another dman but I agree that would be a huge add
