Sabres hiring Jarkko Ruuttu for hockey ops job
ponokasabre replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I think its just a matter of time until KA is POHO and then Jarmo is the GM and Lindy is moved up to be an assistant GM or advisor, then *SHUDDER* Appert takes over as coach Not gonna lie I wouldnt hate Leonne taking over as coach, everything I hear from him is excellent -
With UPL not even skating yet (i haven't seen he has anywhere, maybe I'm wrong?) you have to think it will be Georgiev getting the starts and Lyon backing up. Levi goes to Roch to play his ass off and work to steal a job. Then when UPL comes back id assume whoever is playing the best between Georgiev and Lyon stays

Sabres hiring Jarkko Ruuttu for hockey ops job

Great hire for the team! Yes likely to offset Adam Mair but Jarkko is a great hockey guy. He was an absolute rat to play against! -

I actually am excited to see Zach Jones I think we will be keeping 2 extra forwards and one extra D for the bench players so I assume the 7th spot is coming down to Jones vs Bryson and from what I have read so far Jones has actually been quite decent. -
I wouldnt be so sure Lindy mentioned Geertsen by name when he talked about players he was really excited about and who had big off seasons of training, I will not be suprised if he is playing an almost full time role on the team, and I am okay with that! They also asked Lindy about if he can play D or Wing, and he said he is a lot like I was, could play D or Wing, so I think Lindy has a little soft spot for Geertsen, which again I am okay with, we have been lacking his kind of pressence for a long long time

We need that and Geertsen has played for Lindy before

This will be a very divisive topic. If we are looking at it from a clearly hockey perspective. Michael McLeod (Ryans Brother) would be a big add, he is a big mean physical player, hits, fights, and i believe plays center too I mean honestly Hart would be an upgrade over Lyon and whoever signs him will have a huge chance at a number 1 goalie and a good number 1 goalie being added. Dillon Dube was a bit of a spark plug if I remember correctly, kinda in that Connor Garland mode, but I don't think as offensively gifted as Garland. Cal Foote was a guy I clamored for for a long time, he is Adam Foote's son i believe? was a first rounder, hasn't really been able to find a footing anywhere and has bounced around teams as a 5/6/7 guy. Would he be an upgrade over Bryson or Jones, I would say so. But I would think some team would offer him full playing time Alex Formenton I dont know much about to be honest, I know he played for Ottawa but I dont remember if he was overly physical or not, or skilled. So again, if we are keeping this strictly about the hockey, I would welcome Mcloed with open arms. Hart I would absolutley welcome as that would be an amazing hedge against a UPL downturn, although I doubt he would choose us, as there are teams that need goaltending bad and someone would probably be willing to give the net full time, which we probably couldnt offer, unless he earned it. I'd also consider signing Foote if it meant jettisoning one of Bryson or Jones, preferably Bryson out the door.

Ya I assume its he wants to play somewhere else, which if he does man that would kill Minny. They would have to at least take the Rantanen example and trade him mid season to re-tool I think McDavid signs soon, and truthfully I think he would go long term Kaprizov is a risk cause he has been hurt recently and if that happens in his contract year that could cost him tens of millions of dollars

This is insane if true, I mean how much does he think he is gonna get???

Would You Overpay and Make Zito POHO?
ponokasabre replied to Standing Room Smoking Cigs's topic in The Aud Club
Its not my money, and there is no salary cap on executives, so absolutely 100% all day, i wouldn't even blink about it. Pay him 1 million per year more then his highest offer he recieves -
If his extension starts with an 8 per season I will be so damn happy. I still like the idea from Rivet and Petey to front load the contract to bring AAV down. And I still think we should defer money on this. Pegula can afford it and this is the last off season you can sign those contracts, deffer money on it so it come in at an AAV of 7 million per season and thats a homerun slam dunk contract

Thank you for this, this is extremely well researched! and I believe this 100 percent! As long as Norris stays healthy, the overall effect we will see with this team is gonna be massive. I'm hoping the same will be said for Peterka and Kesserling, harder to quantify as one is a winger/scorer and a defenseman but I do believe the same will be true to the overall team cohesiveness
-
I personally believe there should be a minimum per team. Say 1 forward, 1 defense, 1 goalie, and then one for one other player could be any position. That I think would keep it interesting and fair. Those positions would be full no moves and then you would have no partial or 10 team no trades. I do understand the players want no trades because they don't want to uproot there family or play for teams they don't want to play for. But that's what you signed for and as a fan, especially a fan of a team that has a hard part attracting free agents, trades are the only way to augment and add talent. Free Agency is where players can pick where they want to go. And maybe we need to make Free Agency earlier if we were to change the no-move rules.

This is sorta what I see in my head too. I think a line of Quinn Mcloed Doan will be very very good. I also think a 4th line of Greenway Krebs Danforth will be really hard to play against.
-
I dont know if he will drop the mitts like Foligno did, but he can even come close to replacing that, that would be huge. The Foligno trade, for me personally, is when it all went wrong for me, you just dont trade young power forwards especially one thats dad played for you, to bring back an aging Pominville? Ive always felt that Terry wanted this trade and he forced the GMs hand Remember thought Doan is 23, yes hes hasnt played a ton of games, but he is 23, he is isnt 20 just getting a taste
-
I think this is his ceiling to be honest. He may not be quite the hitter that Peca was, nobody in the nhl is, but he is a forechecking machine that has some talent. I really think Doan is going to be one of my favorite players this year, his growth could change this whole team

Sabres sign Connor Timmins to a 2 year 2.2 Million Dollar AAV contract
ponokasabre replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
A little high AAV but I still like it, I think he is gonna be really solid 5 million left, have to sign Levi. Still room for a Roslovic or a mid level top 6 add
