I dont disagree... but now that they are keeping Adams it looks like they are going to continue to do what they are doing.... and expect a change... and I feel like we are that cash strapped target you think of... cause I agree with you 100% but what you say makes sense... therefor I have not illusions that this will happen.... Adams will either use the pick on a player that might help us in 3 years... or get fleeced on a trade to get a middling player that will actually agree to come to this cesspool of an organization.

From a stat line standpoint there is no surprise, nor argument... I think Sabres fans have disdain for him because he despite all of his points and scoring actually was part of the problem for the lack of success in his Sabres stint... from what we hear from some of the players of that era mostly Rob Ray but others as well... he was an arrogant self absorbed me guy that was divisive, he played like a me guy... he was gutless (hearing him tell the team that he was coaching that they needed to get to the tough areas of the ice... ) that's like Niagara Falls preaching to Lake Erie to stop being wet... literally stepping out of the way of Stephone Richer in the final game of the playoffs (at least for us) in overtime to give him a clear shooting lane to me exemplified his entire career... His abject cowardice in the Red Wings Sabres Brawl when Maguire ran Stefon... you see these Red Wings jump Maguire and 3 other Sabres jump in... one lagged back Housely... then at the other end of the ice when Probert was free and Maguire was down he had a chance to get in the way of Probert who was going to cheap shot his teammate... Probert wagged his finger at him.. Housely turned around and looked away... and Maguire got tagged when he was on the ice.... THAT is the Phyllis Housely I remember... as do many Sabres fans who watched him play... He literally made me sick watching him play... I remember Maguire calling him out after that game... I believe he was traded not long after that... Sorry for the longwinded thing... but the Housely paradox is an interesting one... His talent and production offensively should have been regarded in the same breath as Perrault and Martin and Gare and LaFontaine... yes he is so widely disparaged by those who watched him every game... Hall of fame numbers... absolutely, Hall of Fame player... hate it...

Not a horrible comparison, although I actually think Peterka is a bit better defensively then Ray Sheppard.. then I again, I am better defensively than Ray Sheppard lol... but the guy could snipe no doubt... anyways kudos to a blast from the past...

I am sure he would stay, its a home town of sorts to him... but he is not gonna forgo Millions and Millions with a limited career to stay... So, to throw out numbers just theoretical he gets 9mm on the market... and Buffalo offers 8mm he may stay... Buffalo offers him 6mm probably not ... on a 4 year deal thats 12mm... these guys don't play forever... that said, I do think the Sabres find a way to keep him...

I am sitting here north of Tampa with a lightning team to root for and I dont even watch the games... I might also say he was one of the most Defensively responsible folks out there... so he is learning a balanced game... which is where he kinda slots... he ends up producing like a Peca with a two way game... that is a great player to have... but back to my original concern... are we going to develop him properly... maybe we are ... but I just don't see it... its like a feeling I have... he is set out there in different situations, changing linemates, not certain he has the right vet experience around him to kinda free lance and play his natural game... maybe I am way off base... because I have no knowledge of what they are telling him behind the scenes... but it seems like he has been set a bit more adrift than I would like... I would love to see him have a mentor... In some respects I think that was supposed to be Greenway... but he was out literally half the year... Anyways... I guess we are gonna see what they do and year 3 sometimes is a significant light bulb on year for a lot of people where the game slows down a bit for them....

I think Zucker is the baseline bar... clearly if you want to improve the team you are going to need that level at minimum... I wonder though how we get that done... I totally agree that they should not be expected to carry the heavy mail... I think of Peterka and Benson like the Roy/Pomenville and Vanek 3rd line in the good years... With Briere and Drury leading the first two lines they we allowed to acclimate and kind of gel together...

I think you are right... I am fairly certain he is gonna get offer sheeted especially because of our situation I think teams will try to pilfer him... So our offer will be to match the offer sheet or not... I think thats what it comes down too.

Quite honestly I love you mentioned Kulich, I feel like Benson, Kulich, Peterka are our core for the future they are the 3 in order, of our young players I like the most... Veteran... agreed we need some experience... as long as that is more like a Zucker player and less like a Malenstyn or Aube-Kubel player... We really need to make sure that these players, especially Benson and Kulich develop properly...
