He might end up being the player with more positive impact on the Sabres from the trade. That can be both a really good or bad trade I guess.

Are there major changes coming this summer and who will make them?
SabreFinn replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
As it seems Kekäläinen drafted well, and he had no trouble with palm trees and he sure could get a trade done. I think his failures in choosing coaches is why I still don't want him despite that. -
Peterka’s next contract; trade, bridge or lock-up long-term?
SabreFinn replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
A 5x7milj AAV contract is as high as I would go. -
Petteri Rimpinen is a goalie that might be drafted early. He is overaged but has had a good season in Liiga and was excellent in WJC.
-
Luukkonen was not a fan of the defensive system Ruff had them play. It just didn't work out well and I think it made him hesitate a bit. Then came the loosing streak and season was over. On defense and offense the team has kept doing the same misstakes over and over with giveaways causing turnovers and defenders that can't defend rebounds giving opponents not only one but sometimes two extra chances. With the way the team plays and the way the D-corps are constructed the Sabres doesn't deserve better goaltending. A former Finnish NHL goalie said that there are hardly any goaltender in the world the constantly would look good in a Sabres jersey.

I support this idea. A total remake is needed. -
Current GM of Finnish national team, Jere Lehtinen, won Selke three times as a winger, he is 6'0". It was a long time ago, and a bit difficult to compare, but if we got a Lehtinen we got lucky.

The Sabres Lead the League in Penalty Minutes
SabreFinn replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
Less penalties and a better penalty kill is a key factor to make the playoffs. Maybe next season then. -
And Gallagher was named the heart and soul of the team. If they were Sabres they would probably have let go of Armia at deadline just to get something for him, instead they kept him and extended Evans - so the young players can learn from them! And them two and Heinemann on their fourth line is one of the best in NHL.
-
But how much cash? And for how long?

They beat contenders and lose to losers. What a torture. -
I really hope Quinn can fix whatever is wrong during the summer. He is so far from what I think his ceiling is now that there has to be some sort of injury. If he comes back next season looking the same the only option is to trade him. Noticed that it seems like Bryan Rust lacks trade protection next season. Quinn and Rosen for Rust?
-
Rosen can play in Rochester next year too. He might be too good for that but it is not something to worry about now. If we can't find a spot in the line-up by next trade deadline he will be traded couse he will probably not sign for another year. And the left side is a bit crowded, can't see him fit anywhere, even If I would like to see him get a ten game top six role for him to really show what he is.
-
It has to be the culture. When things are going against you they fight back.
-
We can trade them to Canadian teams, they don't win cups there. Send them to Leafs. Lol.
-
Would love to have him. Wonder what it will take to get him? I guess it might be a sign and trade if Leafs can't afford to keep him??
-
Whitecloud is on top of my list also if we go for the stay at home RHD. Other with question marks: Can Toronto afford to keep Carlo If they decide to keep Marner? What happens with Canes if they get a first round exit, can Walker or Chatfield get available? Is Hawks Connor Murphy good enough to play on the second pair on a team that are serious about taking a playoff spot? Devils have four RHD under contract and Nemec has not been happy with the situation, are they willing to trade him?
-
Agree, it was a big gamble from Adams to rely on Muel to stay healthy and play the way he did for some time two seasons ago. It did not pay out well.
-
I am all in on Dobson, as I mentioned in another thread. He has an offensive side that makes Power a perfect player to trade away. And it is so much easier to find a LHD stay at home than a RHD.
-
Looks like Jokiharju and Mittelstadt will be fine in Boston. Especially Mittelstadt had a good game. Boston keeps fighting for a playoff spot despite loosing several players on deadline.
-
This is an excellent point.
-
The roster has not been composed well. I think Norris if stayin healthy can be a missing piece among offensive players, and summer will tell If they can balance up the defense. But even with a better constructed defense roster I do not have any trust in anyone of current coaching stuff to take the team to playoff. However, a more important question is do the players have trust in the coaching stuff? I believe not. Not after this horrible season. Not the way they play.
-
Agree. I didn't write it with a trade for him in mind. It was just my general thaughts on Pettersson. The team that takes a chance on him and gives him some time to adjust will get one heck of a hockey player. Maybe overpriced, but still, there might be possibilities to get some salary retained depending on what Canucks get in return.
