NHL suspends players acquitted in 2018 sexual assault trial until Dec. 1
xzy89c1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
this does not make sense. They have been functionality suspended since this came out a year and a half to two years ago. They were found innocent. -
Lidstrom was an elite defensive and offensive player almost from moment he came into league. Would love Power to play the positionally genius way Nick did. He does not, and appears lost at times.

he hated Bettman and the NHL for ignoring the CTE crisis with ex players. His book mentioned above is a must read. all his books are. His scotty bowman book is fantastic. He also suffered from tall mans disease lol. his back would get sore from being a stand up goalie and he was 6'4". his famous picture leaning over his stick were to give his back a break. It is what drove him to retirement eventually. if he was born ten years later he would have been butterfly goalie. Met him once in Amherst. nice guy. very quiet. he listened more than talked if that makes sense.

Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson attending US Olympic Team orientation camp
xzy89c1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Tuch is not a gritty two-way player. Thompson's success has been mostly as a center on an awful team. He needs to prove himself as a 200-foot winger who can still score. How he plays without the puck is the biggest question with him. -
Alex Tuch and Tage Thompson attending US Olympic Team orientation camp
xzy89c1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Tage needs to show a commitment to a 200-foot game and play the wing all year or he will not make it. Tuch is a candidate for fourth line but would have to be playing unreal to make it. Tuch needs to show an aggressiveness he rarely does to make it. The games against Canada are mean nasty affairs. -
Lot of mileage on that body plus roids plus coke plus lifestyle... Will miss him. What manager would you choose: Captain Lou Classy Freddy Vlassy Bobby the Brain Mouth of the South

New CBA Provision Regarding CHL-AHL Eligibility Rules
xzy89c1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
USHL existed because Colleges dont want 18 year olds. They want kids to be more physically mature. Spend a year or two in USHL and then go to college. Now that they can play major junior in Canada, it will be interesting to see impact on other lesser junior leagues. -
Gilbert.. Gretzky call him the best ever
xzy89c1 replied to Standing Room Smoking Cigs's topic in The Aud Club
Gilbert was not a hard-working player. An extremely exciting player but never was the 200-foot player he needed to be for the team to win. Contrast him with Yzerman who completely changed his game to become an elite 200 foot player and the team won multiple cups. Your list of top five is particularly good. Do you think Crosby is starting to move up into that discussion? I love the way Crosby plays hockey, but not sure who he would displace. Lemieux maybe based on longevity. -
Gilbert.. Gretzky call him the best ever
xzy89c1 replied to Standing Room Smoking Cigs's topic in The Aud Club
what was context? Gretzky has said many times Gordie Howe and Bobby Orr were the best. -
Thompson should never play center again for the sabres.
-
Rossi is the guy many on this board thought we should have drafted instead of Quinn right?

Seravalli: Real hard to picture JJ Peterka in a Sabres uniform this fall
xzy89c1 replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
JJ gets first line minutes without earning them. On a decent team he is 2nd liner moving to third as he plays no defense. We should trade him if there are teams that think he will be a difference maker. -
Samuelson, with that contract and injury history, is untradeable. Would you want him? Long term commitment to a guy who will be available half the time and soft as a marshmallow the rest of the time.
-
If he is not extended then KA must think he is a threat to him.

Does anyone like the idea of Brendan Shanahan
xzy89c1 replied to SJSabres Fan's topic in The Aud Club
Because he has done so well in Toronto? What gives anyone the impression he is an upgrade? He hires people. When they fail he blames them and then gets someone else. Read Chelios's book where he makes fun of shanahan. Was obsessed with his image. Always kissing up to the media. His teammates did not like him due to that. -
we would have to exceed the next highest bid by massive amount. Taxes in NY are a real detriment to Sabres and Bills. I now have this awful song in my head.

Greenway is the softest 6 foot 6 guy around. Benson takes bad penalties but that is not tough.

Sabres looking for Senior Advisor for Adams and Hockey Department
xzy89c1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
If you need a senior advisor your GM sucks. Our sucks. It is not a position you learn on the fly. You must be prepared and experienced already in an NHL front office. Unreal -
Thompson to play for Team USA at the World Hockey Championships
xzy89c1 replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
Kreider was an extra winger who would not have played, and barely played, without injuries. He was there for leadership. Thompson and Tuch have a lot to prove as 3 zone players to make Olympics. Thompson on wing helps his chances. If the top two are Eichel and Mathews, there is no place for Thompson as center. Also no place for 30 percent on draws. Hopefully, he will be full time winger next year. Better for him and the Sabres. -
Thompson to play for Team USA at the World Hockey Championships
xzy89c1 replied to JoeSchmoe's topic in The Aud Club
he was not snubbed. Those games were always going to be remarkably close games with mistakes needing to be avoided at all costs. Thompson and Tuch are to mistake prone right now. Cannot be trusted especially in own zone. -
Do you believe the Sabres will make the playoffs in 2026?
xzy89c1 replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
zero reason to believe anything will be different next year. Unknown is Norris, but even if plays 82 games at all star level we still have issues playing defense and mediocre goaltending lol, not even 1 %. I agree with you. if we run this back out no chance -
Byram is a very good player. Samuelson is highly overpaid and hurt all the time. What prospects do you think should be traded. What do you seek in return?

Sabres assign Goaltender Scott Ratzlaff to Rochester
xzy89c1 replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
That is fast track to season 15 of no playoffs. UPL is too inconsistent, and Levi is proving to be a good AHL goalie and a backup in NHL. We need an NHL caliber goalie signed or traded for. Someone who can play 40 or 50 games. -
Will Devon Levi Help Make This Team Better Next Year?
xzy89c1 replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
he is 24. no longer a young goalie. He is a small goalie. Small goalies are an extreme rarity in the NHL. Successful small goalies are rarer. Saros from Preds was already a star by 23. Would have been up sooner but they had Renne. It is malpractice by Adams that he has not trade for a starting caliber NHL goalie. Cannot win without one. He still let's in soft goals. In the AHL. He has not proven it.
