  1. I don't see anything about this. I think her name is Carmen.
  2. I wish the Sabres invested in Vanek. He's a smart, savvy guy who would've definitely helped this organization.
  3. I too like Boosh. He was physical. Not a lot of Sabres defensemen are physical. You need big, hard-nose defensemen to clear the front of the net. Hopefully they don't fill the D-ranks with fancy-Dans.
  4. Thinking back, there were so many memories, so many great calls that RJ made that it's hard to put into context my most favorite. The fights especially were called with an electricity that was unmatched by other NHL announcers, which is why RJ is also in the Bare Knuckles Hall of Fame, unlike any other NHL announcer. But maybe my favorite was the Dave Hannan goal in the 4th OT against the Devils at 1:15AM on April 27, 1994. The game kept grinding and grinding and finally, we had the moment of explosive celebration, made even more dramatic by the fact that RJ had to take a pee at the time!
  5. OMG. I just found out. I've been listening to Rick since the 1969 Buffalo Bisons. I feel like my heart has been ripped out of my chest.
  6. I too live near Boston. Bergeron is a class act who was easy to cheer for, despite being on the Bruins. The reports of the Bruins demise are greatly exhaggerated. Pastrnak is a name I've hardly seen on this thread. He had 113 points last year and shows no signs of slowing down. But now their "Perfection LIne" (Marchand-Bergeron-Pastrnak) is now only 2/3 intact. Bergy will be missed. Krejci is gone too. Their top two centers are now Zacha and Coyle, barring future moves. But other losses like Hall, Bertuzzi and Foligno won't really hurt. They were temporary band-aids anyway. Bottom line, their defense and goalies are elite, their forwards will need a bit of a rebuild. I still see them making the playoffs.
  7. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10085279-erik-karlsson-traded-to-penguins-from-sharks-in-3-team-deal-with-canadiens Erik Sven Gunnar Karlsson to the Pens in a three-way deal. Lots of bodies moved here. Karlsson is an $11 million a year player aged 33-34 with three time Norris winner plus multiple serious injuries.
  8. Only 70 years old. Happened quite suddenly apparently. https://nypost.com/2023/07/26/chicago-blackhawks-owner-rocky-wirtz-dead-at-70/
  9. I realized this when you explained it the first time.
  10. Oh well, at least now you have a different story.
  11. McNab forced his way out of town according to the Punch Imlach book "Heaven and Hell in the NHL." After the Russian game that the Sabres won 12-6, McNab said that he played the game for Canada and didn't mention Buffalo. Then the boo-birds came out for McNab. He didn't like it and requested out. Funny thing is several other players, including Martin, said the same thing but didn't catch **** like McNab did. Moral to the story: watch who you boo.
  12. What's left for Adams to do? Prepare the team for playoff hockey.
  13. I see Victor with 32 goals and 11 assists this year. btw Happy Birthday Victor!
  14. It was almost as if Eichel was traded for Tuch, Krebs, Östlund, Greenway and the current version of Tage Thompson, who was given the opportunity of 1C and grabbed it by the throat in Eichel's absence.
  15. Alex doesn't seem like a bad guy, maybe he's just sick. He needs help. I think the Coyotes', who he was with twice before, have done him dirty. Hopefully the NHLPA gets him the help he needs.
  16. Squiggly fun with Skinner and Dahlin. https://www.youtube.com/clip/UgkxNyG-JGB_VSZwts3s5bA6OtYhF1NqyDfZ
  17. I live in Massachusetts now and haven't been to Buffalo since 2004. I miss my favorite pizza on the planet, Leonardi's in Amherst, NY on Grover Cleveland. The place closed several years ago. I think they say that Bailey Avenue Pizza North is the same, and if I ever come back, I'll try it. But nothing hit the spot like Leonardi's. https://www.facebook.com/news4buffalo/videos/bruce-s-warrick-is-completely-heartbroken-that-leonardis-pizzeria-in-amherst-has/1231664850377288/
  18. I was sad that they didn't trade Gil Perreault at the end of his career to the Habs.
  19. The Sabres lineup seems to be solidifying with lots of variables waiting in the wings. Who knows which of these draft choices is going to work out? I still think Buffalo needs a stud defenseman like Skjel but I think acquiring 6'4 Connor Hellebyuck would be a master stroke. (I might also go for Saros but I think two small goalies would be a negative). A Hellebyuck/Levi tandem, barring injury, would be lights out. Check the eye-opening consistency (2.97 GAA was a bad year) in the stats. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Connor_Hellebuyck
  20. Another gem from The Hockey Writers: https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-rumors-july-9-2023/
  21. So does anyone have a new opinion on Kisakov, Poltapov, Neuchev, Novikov etc. etc? Should we not draft any more Russians? Should we give up on these guys and write it off as a mistake where at least one or two of them might work out?
