  1. Hasek knows goaltending. He's a genius at it. That's about it in my book.
  2. https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/nhl-great-hasek-demands-russians-openly-condemn-war-against-ukraine-or-be-banned-from-paris-olympics-1.1981843 He wants the NHL to buy out Russian players to ban them. He also demands the NHL to pay a significant amount of money for Ukraine's post-war renovation. That's insane. In addition, Hasek wants to force Russian Olympic athletes to condemn the Ukraine war. In exchange, them and their families would be offered asylum. He is visiting the European Parliament next week to pitch these and other ideas. Sports should not being used to push political opinions but to be an escape from all of our terrible problems in life like politics, disease etc.
  3. The Red Wings cut ties with Filip Zadina, drafted sixth overall in 2018, and he has cleared waivers...
  4. I know not many of you like Bobby Hull but he was an all-time great and knew his hockey. Here he talks about what makes a team great. It echoes what Erik Johnson says. A team is a bunch of guys with good heads and good hearts that cares about the other guy first. Discussion about what makes a team starts at 1:25.
  5. Good Teppo-like move. They sure love EJ in Colorado: https://forums.hfboards.com/threads/erik-johnson-appreciation-thread.2934075/
  6. Fairly unrelated but rumor is Carolina will roll out this defense next year: Slavin, Pesce, Orlov, Burns, Sjkei and Karlsson… That should be interesting.
  7. Malcolm Subban was signed by St. Louis... https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/hockey/news/blues-malcolm-subban-signs-with-st-louis/
  8. meh. I would've liked 6'5 220 lb LH Ryan Graves instead, who was had for 6 years/ $27 million. Not too much.
  9. I'd like to see what Savoie-Krebs-Benson would do. These three guys go back for years.
  10. Wondering about Quinn's achilles injury. What happened? How was it injured? Not sure it was mentioned earlier in this thread but was it severed by a skate?
  11. I like that Benson has a lot of experience with and appears to be Savoie's partner. Roch should be dynamite in the next couple years. I do like my Krebbs and hope they don't trade him now. Tons of potential, but like the Bills offense, there's only one ball/puck and with all that talent, how do you distribute it? I do wish they let Okposo and Girgs go and let the youth movement totally take over. Should be interesting who Buffalo gets as RHD4.
  12. Victor Olofsson was a 7th round steal. I wish we could hang onto him. Snipers like him don't grow on trees. Kind of reminds me of Alex Kotalik, a sniper who was a 6th round steal...NHL Career 542g 136 goals, 148 assists 284 pts. Victor could end up with Kotalik like numbers by the end of his career.
  13. More like Vile Leino. Hall is of course on the Sabres Master List of Villains. Does Eichel belong there? Ultimately I don't think so. He actually produced results. Hasek left on bad terms but is ultimately a hero. Drury and Briere also were guilty of mutiny. But it was a reaction to mismanagement and they produced while here. I think Lehner belongs on the villain list. Any other villains that we're missing? We may have hit a rich topic that deserves its own thread here.
  14. Hall couldn't be a driver on a losing team so he demanded to be traded to specifically the Bruins where he could become a passenger on a winning team. Sounds good except passengers, even those that contribute, aren't paid $6 million a year and the big money was a big reason why he was traded to...another losing team. Another big problem with Hall is all the injuries, so he's not even a reliable passenger.
  15. Hall and Nick Foligno go to the Hawks for basically salary cap relief. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nhl/bruins-trade-taylor-hall-to-blackhawks-for-salary-cap-relief/ar-AA1d45dk The Taylor Hall curse continues.
  16. This clip about Ryan Graves is from The Hockey News. They're evaluating what are the three top signings the Penguins could make in the offseason. Sounds just like what the Sabres need. Add in Tyler Myers on a reduced rate as well as drafting Reinbacher and we're all set. Hey, I can dream can't I?
  17. Hunter Shepard is looking really good as goaltender for the Hershey Bars. Zach Fucale's there too. I am not a huge fan for spending big bucks on a goalie. By the time they're earning big bucks and they're available, their best days are usually behind them. Look at Bobrovsky, Matt Murray, etc. etc.. But the Sabres don't need an all-world goalie. Look at Adin Hill. He bounced around from team to team before backstopping Vegas to a cup. The key is the big, solid veteran defense and the defensive buy-in at forward. You don't have to be a great goalie to win a cup. You just have to have the right formula as a team.
  18. https://www.thehockeybeast.com/nhl/jack-eichel-celebrates-the-stanley-cup-by-working-at-a-fast-food-drive-thru-fans-cant-believe-its-for-real/
  19. Eichel with tears in his eyes @ :32. He earned it fellas. I just didn't think it would happen this quick.
