Before yesterday, I hadn't taken a ride through the area in a few weeks. Things are moving fast... 1 - Exterior walls going up on Donovan building. 2 - Casino steel is going up. 3 - New park space on outer harbor land(north of where Shooters used to be) is already cleared. For those who didn't know, this is where they stored the ice boom for many years. The ice boom is now stored on a site along the Buffalo River a little bit in from the Ohio St. Bridge. 4 - Canal work on Aud site is still full steam ahead. Not sure what the timeline was on this, but I don't see it being done, and ready for any winter activities(ice skating) this year. 5 - Alumni plaza next to the FNC is coming along. It looks like French Connection statues are in place, but covered up. 6 - Webster block fenced off, and no cars were parked there. Not sure if this is temporary, or they are ready to put a shovel in the ground. 7 - Of course you can't have all this construction going on without a picket line in place, so a group of 50-100 picketers were at the entrance to the Donovan construction site. Not sure what it was all about.

Ah...Drinking around the "world" at the food & wine festival. Never tried it, but have heard a lot about it. Good luck.

Okay so maybe my expectations of them playing 90+% of the plays is not realistic, but here are the number of snaps to date... M.Williams 83% M.Anderson 76% M.Dareus 67% K.Williams 67% C.Kelsay 38% A.Carrington 33% I'd like to see Mario closer to 90%, and if K. Williams and fatass Dareus can only play 2/3 of the snaps, there is a problem....especially considering they are considering good pass rushers and are not removed from the game on obvious passing downs.

I will have to google later on. There used to be a site that showed how many snaps each player was in for. I'd like to know how the Bills DL starters compare with other elite DL around the league.

If that is the case, how come the OL doesn't rotate?

I'm sick of this DL rotation crap. Williams, Williams, Dareus & Anderson should be out on the field all game except for maybe a quick 1-2 play break each half, and even that might not happen, unless the defense is on the field for large chunks of each half. I don't know if that is Biff's(Chan's GT buddy) idea, but cut the crap already. These guys aren't being made $$$ to sit on the sideline.

I'm just glad Grigs decided to play in the Q versus going home to play in the KHL. I have a feeling that would have been a bad omen.

Embassy Suites. You always get free wireless?
-
First formal meetings in about two weeks, that will probably result in both sides leaving the table by lunch(maybe they will wait until after lunch in order to get another free meal in) on Saturday. YAWN!!!!! Wake me up when it is over.

Hotels charging for wireless access! Not only should you not be charging your customers for this service, but you are really bending me over when you want to charge me your $12.95 per day rate, PER DEVICE! Raise the room rates if you have to to offset your wireless internet costs, but don't rub this ridiculous fee in my face.

The Sabres Hockey Hotline with... somebody or other?
LabattBlue replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
They need to follow the lead of Hockey Central(FAN590 12-1PM), and go on hiatus every summer. Either get rid of the show completely until the lockout ends, or have Sylvester open the discussion to all sports. Calling the show "painful" at this point, is an massive understatement! -

I bet the NHLPA is not to happy about Modano's statements... http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/8396004/mike-modano-estimates-lost-7m-last-lockout "In hindsight, it wasn't worth it," he told ESPN The Magazine for a story gauging former players' opinions of the last lockout. "It was a waste of time. We thought we were stronger than we were. We started falling apart as the months clicked by."
-
Thank you! ...and thank you!

There are many NHL owners LOSING money(1/3 of them?) and at the same time all the players are MAKING at least $500,000 or so per season. WIthout the owners putting up with these losses, there wouldn't be some 900 players earning at least the minimum salary. I'm supposed to side with the players? The only money they are losing is if their representation is stubborn enough to dig in their heels for the season. If the players don't like it, go play in the KHL or somewhere else in Europe, and then decide how bad the NHL owners are trying to screw them.
-
I side with the owners(as I did during the last lockout), but I hate both sides when I hear this phrase on a sportscast, which I did this morning... "No talks are scheduled." Seriously? Go f*** yourselves!

Good to hear this nonsense is over. Now Doan can finish his career in obscurity.
-
Poor choice in my wording("hey Fehr what do you think about this?"), but if I was an owner, I'd be doing everything I could to do away with guaranteed contracts in the next CBA. If the players don't like it, sit out a year, sit out two, but eventually you will agree to it. Why is that such a far fetched notion? Do all 4 of the BIG sports in this country have guaranteed contracts?
-
No. What's wrong with it?

I'm pretty sure I've "complained" about this before, but it makes me so angry that I have to listen to this conversation several times a month... I am sick of people in my department bitching about how much other people in the department make. STFU! Either realize that you are already making a fair wage and great benefits(which they are), and stop worrying about how much anyone else is making, or quit and see how much money you are really worth on the street. This includes one of my own staff who keeps threatening to go to our department head with an ultimatum(pay me more or I quit), if some of the other complainers get bumped up in salary. Go right ahead. Let me know how that works out for you A$$HOLES!

Buy a Mac and don't look back! ;)

I have a suggestion to the owners. GET RID OF GUARANTEED CONTRACTS! That way turds like Leino could be cut loose after a putrid first year. See how Fehr and the players would like that suggestion. Don't forget Chara the Giant over Fehr's shoulder. My 2 cents...If you are planning on rolling the players out in front of the cameras, could they at least dress to the point where they don't look they rolled out of bed and put on whatever was laying on the floor? Not saying they need to have on suits, but don't dress like you just got back from the beach.

My mom has been battling it for a few years. :(

Summer is coming to a close, football season is starting, and hockey training camp should be around the corner. We should be talking about how the prospects are going to look at Traverse City, not this CBA/lockout BS.

My tradition...For the last 41 years, every October, I hope that this is "the year". Here's to that wish coming true in year 42.
