  1. Miami (10-4) remaining schedule: Dallas Baltimore Buffalo Buffalo (8-6) remaining schedule: Chargers New England Miami That final game may be for the division. I think they still have a shot at it after the wins the past two weeks. Miami has had issues beating decent teams
  2. I think they all care, tbh. But how much do they care varies from player to player. The second part of this is how you define caring. Is caring devoting all of their time towards hockey related things? Then all of the new fathers probably wouldn't be defined as caring about hockey. Do you define caring as putting in the work in game to be competitive and not just float around the periphery? Then I feel like half or more of the team, under this definition, would be defined as not caring. Do you define not caring as not having any preference between winning or losing? Then I suspect the whole team would be defined as caring (once again to varying to degrees). I think the whole team cares about winning vs. losing. But the team, as a whole, doesn't care enough to consistently put forth full effort in-game. I.e. they aren't fighting for pucks as hard as they ought to be all the time, they aren't getting back on d as quickly as they should be all the time, they aren't locking in on their own role within the defense all the time. I would guess that some of this in game "not caring" is derived from Donnie probably not motivating the players right. The other part of it is that it is not natively in most of their DNA (aside from a few). They were all first round picks that have been able to skate around the opposition and score goals at will for most of their careers. The other parts of the game just don't come naturally.
  3. If the kid wants to, sure. I know that if I was in his shoes I would want to stay with the big club. His play has merited him being in the conversation of what should happen, in my opinion
  4. Not that it matters at this point, but Mitts needs to be willing to pull the trigger there...
  5. Tahoe knight monsters? 😄 Sounds like they took name nominations from a kindergarten class. What were the other nominations, "wizard men" and "fighter guys"?
  6. Tage came back early last year and played hurt... and was bad to the point that the sabres may have been better off without. I respect the guy's toughness, but I hope he's not coming back again before he's ready
  7. This is the sort of game where VO will score a goal with Buffalo down by 4 in the third period with 5 minutes left
  8. How much time do we think the vo jost Rosen line sees?
  9. Rosen is faster for sure, he's pretty quick. Rosen is looking like a solid all around player. As i said above, he can fly on skates, and he is a plus passer and a plus shooter. His ceiling is definitely 1st line player if he can hack it defensively in the NHL, he has all the gifts.
  10. nice goal from neuchev for the amerks
  11. It feels kind of crazy to say this because of his age, but he has definitely played like one of our better forwards. I say keep him up, we need him to stay in the playoff race in the intermediate between now and when Quinn comes back. With that being said, we shouldn't be in this position where we have to keep him up... in order to field a competitive enough team to stay in the playoff race. The fact that we likely need him to stay up feels like an indictment of KA's roster management of the forwards. edit: But for real, how exciting is it that this kid is already having an impact on the team?! He's already a beast, but in a few years.. watch out NHL!
  12. With so many NHL capable defensemen and a seemingly decent goalie (Tokarski), why are they giving up so many goals? I thought that side of things would be improved this year for the Amerks
  13. Tage is going to miss significant time you say?
  14. Sure, the Bruins are good. But still... it's just so disappointing.
  15. Don't have the athletic, so I can't really comment on the article. But I am curious how similar charts would look for the Sabres. I suspect it would look quite different than NHL averages. It would probably just reflect what we already know.. that the Sabres have a bunch of shooters that like to take shots from outside and that we don't get many shots/tips from right by the goalie. Also, the fact that about 20% of goals come from shots behind the goal is kind of crazy. EDIT: I misread the goals portion. It is actually less than 1%. It is kind of crazy that there are ~5% shooting percentages from the corners behind the net.
  16. Just watched the highlights. That sequence where Raanta came out on Mitts and then had the diving out stretched stick save on Greenway...whew. What a save. And what a pass from Dahlin to hit Mitts like that. The Dahlin goal was real nice. Pass to himself and then that shot. Wow. You need your stars to step up in that type of situation.. and he sure did.
  17. If you told me over the offseason that we would be getting average goaltending this year, I would've taken it in a heartbeat. Our strength is supposed to be the rest of the team, not the goalies (yet).
  18. This team has wayyyy too much talent to be a marginal playoff team. If they don't get their act together before the end of the season... heads are going to roll in the coaching staff/management. Rest of the season is going to be tough, they have a lot of good opponents on the schedule: Philly, KC, Miami, Dallas, etc. Going to be tough to turn it around with that schedule. If they make the playoffs, they will definitely deserve it with that schedule. Will be interesting to see what happens.
