  1. I did not. Thank you for clarifying.
  2. Brutal. But the assertion that he’s one of the most talented players on this team can certainly be debated. He’s easily replaceable today.
  3. I missed that and now I’m sad
  4. OMG another season of this? I guess I forgot. Yikes.
  5. But they’re getting the money train of the Bills greased by Bills content. I’m not criticizing the Pegulas…as owners of both teams, they win either way.
  6. Understood. Mitts is a RFA at season’s end. Just don’t qualify him and move on. It’s time.
  7. When you love your manager as a person, but they aren’t detail oriented/too busy. I like my job. I’ll carry a heaping pale of water for you. But can you please just read what I wrote in email in its entirety? Would you please pretend you’re trying to remove roadblocks instead of firing off one sentence nightmares? Surely someone can sympathize.
  8. With development in mind, it is time to move Mitts for whatever, and install Krebs in that role. That can be 3C, or wing. Mitts has stalled. With the current top two lines set in stone, Casey is a blocker for future development. With Krebs in a third line role, he will get low pressure minutes and a chance to grow. It’s time. The Sabres organization cannot let the unicorn that is Tage prevent them from moving on from players. If Mitts flourishes elsewhere, so be it.
  9. I grew up in Rochester and without cable, so not many Sabres games when I was a kid. With that in mind, I listened to Don Stevens and the Amerks religiously. I called into the intermissions when the radio broadcast took callers (that was wild lol). Stevens is the type of guy who sounds like he is falling off a cliff when the Amerks score…he SCOOORRRRRREEEeeessssssssssssss… Side note: When I was a kid, I wanted to be the guy who yelled, “he shoots, he scores!” on the radio. I went to school for broadcast communications and have called many hockey games on the radio…but that was a long time ago. I appreciate Dan for not falling into the Don Stevens cliche. But at the same time, that’s exactly what I want. And I felt like Dan was the opposite of a cliff diver during those big moments. Dan has gotten better at not seeming to be surprised by a goal for or against. He’s more on top of the play. It probably helps to call competitive games and that’s what the Sabres are today. I hate that we still get a tv call for radio-only games from him, but I got used to it because RJ was similar in that way. Today, I think Dan calls a smooth game. I am happy to have him. And the guy following THE GUY are huge shoes to fill. He’s never tried to sound like Rick because that’s not him. Last thing…Tage’s goals replayed in my head have Dan’s voice in my head. And they’re honestly good calls. I hope Dan sticks around and grows up with this team.
  10. This is the Sabres fault. The Sabres are the only organization in the league that simulcasts their tv PBP for the radio. Everyone else has a dedicated radio and tv team. It’s garbage.
  11. Thank you. I didn’t do the math, but assumed an above comment as accurate. As you said, it is still a tall order. I’ll watch no matter what. Go Sabres.
  12. I’ll just never understand why people who mop toilets (or nickname themselves after the tools of such) think it is fun to troll people on the internet. Dear mop of toilets, please find a new hobby. And congrats, you’re the person who encouraged me to learn the ignore feature of this website. Please wear this as a badge of honor. I hope you one day feel that it is more redeeming to engage in discourse rather than rattle a can in people’s faces. I hope something happens in your life that makes you happy enough to be decent to strangers who have a common bond (Sabres fandom).
  13. LOL you’re right. The Voodoo Ranger Imperial IPA must have got me shook up. My bad. I think the projection of numbers I laid out above will ring true. The Sabres aren’t going to play .700 hockey from here on out to get to 98 points. I just don’t see it. The only potential dramatic change to the Sabres season would be a goaltending upgrade, and I just cannot see them acting on that today…because who would be available? Goalie upgrades aren’t typically done mid season. And a deadline deal for a goalie like MA Fleury (the big fish from last year) don’t seem like Buffalo would be a logical destination. And even if they could pull off something major for a legitimate goalie, that would require waivers for either Anderson of Comrie. I just don’t see it. I apologize in advance if there are typos to the above. I’m logging off now lol 🍻
  14. The reasons why McCabe signed in Chicago are well known. I think that ship has nailed. If Schenn is a commodity, why would he OK a trade here? As much of an optimist as I am, this isn’t a playoff team in 2022-2023. I like the idea of improving the third pairing, but I don’t think that’s an easy task. Telling a good defenseman you’re a blocked shot away from top four minutes on a team destined for tenth in the conference isn’t an easy sell to anyone. Unless one of Dahlin, Power, Muel, or Joki get hurt long-term, this D corps is solidified. No one acquired will step on their minutes during this development season. Fingers crossed lyubushkin can get back soon.
  15. I wish I agreed, but I don’t. The one seed has just become mandatory. I’m saying this because this is the same defense that had their season end at Arrowhead the last two years. Von was the difference. Now we have the exact same defense, less Hyde, to run it back a third time. Why would this year be any different? Josh already did the Incredible Hulk act last year and it wasn’t enough.
  16. It’s totally possible. The Pens have lost three in a row and no Letang. But I still don’t see how it moves the needs given my post just above this. I would love to be wrong!
  17. I think the trouble is that you have to sell the player in question on playing third pair minutes for a non-playoff team. Would McCabe or Schenn sign up for that? Agree that neither will see the playoffs on their current teams, but they’re just a shuffled deck chair if they come here. Neither should supplant Muel or Joki this season. Like it or not, this year is about development of their young core.
  18. Unfortunately I think you’re right. Through 25 games, the last team in a playoff spot has 31 points. So 93 point pace after 75 games. 98 seems like the bare minimum needed to qualify. It sucks that the eastern is so top heavy. BTW, the western is at a 84 point pace in the same 75 game envelope-math formula. That would be a lot more attainable. Perhaps things in the East will slow down with teams like the Rangers, Panthers, & Caps on the outside looking in season to date. Those teams could steal from the teams above them. Unfortunately, Buffalo is behind everyone I just mentioned.
  19. KO said Appert told him it was an upper body injury and he’s day to day.
  20. I just texted Kevin O to see what he found out postgame. I’ll reply.
  21. The Sabres probably saved three million annually by inking him as early as they did. That’s another impactful player under the cap down the line.
  22. I wasn’t able to watch the pregame or either of the first two periods…did the TNT folks have nice things to say about the Sabres development during the intermissions and etc?
  23. What’s weird is this game is blacked out for me and I live in Rochester. It doesn’t make any sense. I’ve never seen TNT with a broadcast unavailable in your area message before.
  24. I’m told it is Autism-friendly night at the Amerks game, so some things (like the flippin goal horn) are not in use for sensory reasons.
