  1. Wow looks like Price in Montreal, Ellis in Philly and Nolan Patrick in Vegas are all done for the season. Patrick has never gotten his career off the ground.
  2. I bet you half the Analytics depts. in the league watch that video and say “Wow the GM actually listens to the Analytics guys and value their input” A lot of clubs have Analytics depts because everyone has them now but the GM can’t really be bothered with them that much. It is an edge that the Sabres have one of the top depts. and utilize them. The drafting has been much better and these two signings were aided by Analytics. A couple takeaways: 1) Pegula’s son was in the interview with Savoie from the draft video and was sitting beside Adams in the war room for free agency. Looks like he wants to be involved. 2) Adam’s little speech at the end saying this was the first offseason that players and agents were interested in coming and excited about what the team is doing.
  3. They see Cozens as that big fast hard driving two way centre. I don’t think they move him to the wing.
  4. No, it was mostly because he sucked at his job. Krueger was one of the worst hires in pro sports history. Botts was sucked in by his family connections to Krueger. Utter disaster. If the only thing Adams did was fire Krueger I would still rate him higher than Botts
  5. Mostly because the Pegulas trust him. They have been thru a decade of dysfunction and finally have their guy they trust and can communicate with. Things finally look like they are on the right track. You are right that the results haven’t come yet but I think the Pegulas are happy with the way things are heading and want stability finally with someone they trust, especially with Kim’s situation.
  6. Your point makes no sense. These guys didn’t all start at the same point and it isn’t just about numbers it is about building and running an organization the right way. Murray was fired because he was an a&&hole on top of not being great at his job. Botts made bad hires and didn’t build the organization. Adams walked into an awful situation with no experience and has made chicken salad so far out of chicken sh$t. The Pegulas trust him and want him around.
  7. I think Pegula would love the Steelers model. Just keep the right people in place forever and be competitive all the time. The Bills are there, hopefully the Sabres are getting there.
  8. Sabres Facebook put out a video of Comrie and UPL trying candy and what a stark difference in size. UPL is a physical monster compared to Comrie. Not that it means anything but I was just surprised seeing it. Comrie seems like a great guy. I hope this works out for him and he runs with this opportunity. Just competent middle of the road goaltending would be a big step up from what they played in front of a lot of nights last year.
  9. Yes but not as an over ager. This was his first year of draft eligibility.
  10. Well said. Forton’s tearful remarks about Adams show how far he has brought this organization. I think the next few years will finally be very fruitful.
  11. Adams and the FO like to marry high end skill with character, motor and coach ability. They wouldn’t have chosen Nylander as he doesn’t have the character, motor, coach-ability makeup.
  12. Kris Baker has been posting some highlights of him just going end to end multiple times in the U20 league.
  13. Even more importantly: Leafs with 0 of the Top 50 😁
  14. https://forums.hfboards.com/threads/mckeens-hockey-top-prospect-rankings-organizational-rankings.2899302/ McKeens just posted its prospect rankings on hfboards. Future is BRIGHT!
  15. I have a gut feeling that this year’s draft will be looked at very fondly down the road. Savoie, Östlund, Kulich, Neuchev, Lindgren, Komarov all look promising so far. Goalies are wildcards so we will see how Leinonen progresses.
  16. As we get closer to next year’s draft I’m sure Sabres fans will love the lack of dmen ranked in the first round.😛😀
  17. I’ll be interested to see how Buffalo boy Quentin Musty progresses this year.
  18. Training camp used to be for the players to get back into shape. Now the players are in top shape 24/7, 365 so they are chomping to get playing after a couple days of practices
  19. I went on the Habs board at hfboards and some fans there were laying out the situation: apparently a lot of fans do not like the new front office there and a lot of fans wanted Shane Wright as the pick. So they see Slafkovsky as the unliked FO’s pick instead of the fan’s pick of Wright and thus some are almost rooting for Slaf to fail. Sounds ridiculous but this is pro sports fandom. I don’t think he is ready to play this season from a skill and production aspect but when you are 6’3, 238 lbs 1OA pick you are going to play in the league right away. Hope he does well but Montreal is the last place you don’t want to do well in.
  20. It is impressive that their 4th and 5th round picks this year formed a really good d pairing at this tournament. The Sabres ability to find players at all points of the past couple drafts is what has really lifted the pipeline. The quality of the invitees to this tournament was impressive as well. The scouting dept. has been doing work😀
  21. Kozak, Rosen, Cederqvist, Kisakov, Komarov were all really pleasant surprises. Kozak looks like a 22 year old 2nd round pick. Just so well rounded, Peca is going to love mentoring him all season. Savoie and Kulich were just what you would expect. And Savoie impressed me not for his offensive chops but for his dogged work ethic, defensive awareness and positioning, work on the PK and at the dot. Kulich is a really explosive player, reminds me a ton of Peterka. Lindgren’s skating is an elite trait. If he can develop the rest of his game under Sutter this year they could have something there. Best team and tournament so far. Tons of speed and skill on display.
  22. Rosen looks like he isn’t hustling but he is just skating by people. Just so fluid with his speed.
  23. I think Appert said last year that JJ has three goals their December and then exploded the second half of the season.
