If they can fix the 2nd line they have as good of a shot as anyone to make a run to the playoffs. I prefer a 2nd line centre but an impact winger would work too. It’s not about the poor results of late it’s that he doesn’t have the smarts/hockey IQ to be a 2nd line centre. When he has to think with the puck on his stick it is a problem.

I agree. The team’s failure has been in hiring quality people to run the franchise. The problem is when you let failure last too long then it becomes a cycle you can’t escape. Players like ROR, Eichel, Reinhart were and are great players but they have to be in the right situation, surrounded by quality players who make the team successful. They were not put in that situation here and then timelines don’t match up and players want to move on. This is probably the first year in a long time that the FO tried to actually build a team that can be competitive night in and out. Why, because Lindy came in with a vision and they followed it. The only thing that gets Buffalo off no trade lists is winning and stability over a long period. It’s going to take a lot of work.

The other factor is the draft. In the NFL you get an entire crop of new talent to walk in and join the roster each season. In the NHL you draft a crop that is 2-3 years away from a potential roster spot. NFL can plug holes much easier than NHL teams and as others have said, it’s easier to get rid of players you can cut mid contract.

Shakir and Cook just make positive yards when it looks like there is nothing there. Hell of a game by Coleman today. Kid looks like he is going to become a big time player. Cook, Davis and Johnson in the backfield, Kincaid and Knox at TE, Shakir, Cooper, Coleman at WR and Allen with his legs. So many options that Defences have to try and shutdown.

Really impressed with Greenway’s play. McLeod as well. Bryam and Krebs seem a lot more confident right now. Regardless of results, Lindy has them playing hard, especially at home. It’s good to see. Keep it rolling. Getting Benson and NAK back will be big. IDK who sits, Kulich and Quinn? Lafferty. Nice to have some NHL quality depth. Cozens is still a mess. That icing right at the red line is inexcusable. One step and he was over centre.

Detroit are 4-3 and have won their last 2 games while being outshot by ridiculous margins. I like Buffalo’s roster better than both teams but it’s a matter of executing with consistency. Beating Detroit Saturday would be a big start.

This is a season where other teams are faltering around the Sabres. If they can put it together and somehow start getting some PP production then they can give themselves a shot.

The Rosen hate by some is fascinating. When you actually take the time to watch him play you see a very interesting player. Tremendous wheels, rocket of a shot, good sense and playmaking, works hard defensively. And he has produced as a young player in the AHL.

Cozens doesn’t have the hockey IQ to be a high end #2 centre. When he has to handle the puck and make decisions it doesn’t go well. Let him go up and down the wing and use his speed to create chances off the rush. I would try letting Krebs or McLeod centre him for a while and see the results. I think Helenius slots into the number 2 centre spot long term but that is a couple years away.

Coleman is going to be just fine.

Some serious injuries yesterday with the Jets lineman carted off, Watson and Metcalf carted off and Daniels out for Washington with a rib injury.

Diggs going to Diggs Once Cooper gets even more comfortable I would say this could be the most weapons Allen has ever had. Cooper, Shakir, Coleman, Kincaid, Knox, Cook, Davis. Ty Johnson has impressed. Hollins is big in the block game. Samuel is the one guy that hasn’t really clicked yet.

What I can’t do anymore is read your awful takes. If you’re happy with the franchise and the product they are putting on the ice then good for you. 14 years straight without the playoffs is a tremendous accomplishment.
