It’s time for this Leafs group to breakthrough. Too much talent to be first round fodder every season. They can probably go on a nice run if they can finally get over the first round hump.

He has not produced in the pro league and has forced his way off a couple teams. Rumours that his dad is gets too involved. He had a good start to the WJCs before they got cancelled. If he has a big WJCs in August then his stock might start to rise again. Has all the tools but hasn’t been able to put it all together.

I just don’t care. He told a story. -

The story he told was that when they got to the rink Koivu was basically hiding in the trainers room. The trainer had took him to get stitched up but never told the team. Saku told Rivet that he couldn’t bend over. But he DID play that night but missed the rest of the series after that game. -

He told the story a couple of times in varying degrees of detail. Once with Peters, once with Friedman, once on that podcast. Depends who you listened too. -

Rivet said that Koivu played Game 3 but didn’t play the rest of the series. He had so many stitches in his back he couldn’t bend over. -
If he was a great skater he probably would have been a first round pick. He is a project and the project is can they get his skating to NHL level. He seems to have all the other traits.

https://www.tsn.ca/shane-wright-nhl-draft-lottery-ranking-1.1797605 Button’s latest rankings. Lots of movement. Savoie down to 17, Nazar 24th, Geekie 31st.

I think you are right. I was thinking about 1st and 2nd but as it is two separate draws then yeah 6th would be the spot.
-
A pick can only move up 10 spots. If Vegas won the lottery they would move up to 6th. If they won the second slot they could move up to 7th. They cannot be bumped back. So 6th, 7th or 16th are the options. The pick is top 10 protected. So if they move up then they keep the pick and Sabres get their 2023 pick.

Watching the Rags implode is fantastic. Their saviour has fallen apart in net and all their untouchable young players are invisible.

LOL Friday night I went to Belleville to watch the Sens-Amerks playoff game. We could see into the Sens box. Dorian, MCGuire and about 8 other execs were in the box. The other 9 guys were gathering and talking and McGuire was sitting by himself. No one would talk to him. He must be a way bigger a**hole then we even think. I have a feeling that Pierre convinced Melnyk to hire him and when he passed away Dorian couldn’t wait to can McGuire.

I wonder where this leaves Lane Lambert? Will he take over with the Isles or go somewhere else as HC or follow Trotz to his next destination.
-
Why? Laaksonen has had the better career in the AHL so far.

Imagine paying $11 million for Tavares for the next 4 years.

https://thehockeywriters.com/2022-nhl-draft-rankings-may-baracchini/ Savoie falling to 9th would be great.

I think the NHL really needs to look at teams carrying 3 goalies full time with the 3rd goalie getting a $1 million that doesn’t count against the cap. So many injuries to goalies these days. A guy like Anderson would be the perfect 3rd goalie option. There are guys in their 30s who don’t want to play in the AHL but would be good insurance as a 3rd option on an NHL roster. -

Didn’t realize Comrie was a UFA. I wouldn’t mind him if the big options don’t pan out. -
I agree except sending him back to Kingston is not a positive. They have a terrible track record of developing players and putting good teams on the ice dating back decades. If you could get him moved to a better team then it would be a positive move for Wright. The Hunter brothers in London are the gold standard for preparing players to be productive pros.
