Solid win tonight. They were full marks for that W. To me this year might be more interesting then last with all the young talent developing. Hats off to Appert and staff. They didn’t sit or shelter the kids tonight.. UPL looking like a difference maker. Knock on wood he can stay healthy, string together a strong run and get ready to move up. Pilut is a superstar at the AHL level. Weissbach is a very good AHL player. He should get some callup looks when injuries hit. 4 teenagers in the lineup and they all looked like they belonged tonight. Goal and an assist for Rosen and he looked good.

I thought Bryson was good last night. Power was the one that stood out as struggling. He was off with his decisions which is unlike him. I’m chalking it up to opening night jottera.

It has been ALONG TIME since the Sabres have iced a team with 12 capable forwards and 6 capable dmen. There will be ups and downs but overall this should be an entertaining team to watch this season.

I thought the two players that would have a good game tonight would be Anderson and JJ. Anderson because he always plays well against his former team. JJ because his good buddy Stutzle was playing and he is a competitive warrior and would not want to be shown up.

I think Anderson starts tonight. Ottawa and Detroit are getting all the love and Buffalo is an afterthought with the media. Buffalo relishes the underdog role. I think they come out strong tonight.

Leafs play the Caps tonight with Samsonov in net for Toronto.If he has a rough outing it will be a lot of fun in Leafs Nation only two games into the season. I don’t put much stock in this goalie tandem but I put less stock in the Leafs d corps. Pundits are seduced by the top heavy forward corps but the Leafs are the complete anthesis of a well balanced team.

They are going Bills mode with wanting stability.

He is going to be playing top pair minutes long term with Dahlin. It is hard to get a real read in his game. He is a physical d first type but there is more to his offensive game to unlock. He seems to have good instincts and likes to jump up in the play at times. He is a glue and culture guy. I like it a lot.
