WNED played only Canadian composers on Canada Day and will be playing only American composers on Monday. They are playing a much higher proportion of each country's composers this weekend. Even though BPO Conductor JoAnn Faletta programs way more American composers than virtually any other orchestra on the planet, I have been pleasantly surprised with even more composers whom I have been exposed to.

After an Ullmark-level goalie backstopped a team to the Cup, I think those of us who are clamouring for a clear #1 netminder in the next few seasons are going to be sorely disappointed. I just don't think GMKA will go out of his way to get a long-term, established #1 unless and until one of Pekka-Lukkonen, Subban, Portillo, or Levi breaks out.

This is what I am looking at: trade fodder.

Every time I think about it, it irks me that Philadelphia, New York, etc. created these contracts to Buffalo's detriment on Black Sunday and almost no one in the NHL press said anything negative, but the second Buffalo did it, suddenly it became a big deal. (Given the number of injuries at the position that the Sabres have had the last 3 years, it would be foolish not to plan that way.) I wonder which other teams will seriously plan for 4 or more netminders.

How about the overpayment of 9 and 28 for 6 and, say, 70? They may insist on it.

Dallas did this with malice aforethought in 1999 against Buffalo and in 2000 against New Jersey because of the age and speed disadvantage they had from a long series.

It does not mean they won't try nor that they might not make a trade. Having said that, GMKA must do better than Anderson and UPL this off-season. This team must ascend the standings. Having solid goaltending behind an almost absurdly young top 4 D is a necessity.

IMHO, we would be doing the Black Hawks a salary cap favour AND they won't lose him for nothing. I am not sending them any of Tuch, Cozens, Quinn, Dahlin, etc. for Kane. #28, Portillo, and Johnson? That I can see.
