I agree that there probably are precious few true independent voters out there. My guess is people who do identify themselves as independent do so because they do not cast a pure party line vote. I feel I'm stuck in no man's land: compassionate conservative.. I believe in a safety net that doesn't break the bank. Probably a pipe dream....

Obama did not INHERIT " a worldwide crisis and collapsed economy ". As I recall he deliberately and decisively ran for President when there was a worldwide financial crisis. He promised to fix it. He said he could. I'm not saying he did or did not fix it, but he didn't inherit anything. His campaign naturally acts like he is some poor guy that was saddled with this. The truth is, he wanted it. Only fools rush in, and he did. He got my vote the first time, he's going to have to work for it the second time. The woe is me act isn't working with me. I'm looking for someone to fix things, not complain about how bad a start they got or are getting.
