  1. Some of those claims are bogus. I did like the one studying whether rats high on cocaine liked Miles Davis music. I have got to know.. Do coked up rats like Miles?
  2. Outstanding..
  3. I certainly understand that veiwpoint. I've said it before upthread, he willingly ran into a house on fire. He said he could fix things and that he would change the way things were done. His admininstration has spent trillions trying and still we have 20M folks without jobs here. Do I give him a nice try? Yes. Do I think he has the means to solve things? No. He's fired his salvo and it was a dud. Listening to his campaign, he's got nothing left. If Romney wasn't such a lightning rod, he'd be getting crushed. So I'm left with the choice of a President running for re-election on an empty gas tank or a former governor without a gas tank.
  4. I'm with Claude. He doesn't get credit for stopping the economic collapse. From my optic, he hasn't stopped anything. There are 20M folks in this country out of work and that is the only metric that matters to me.
  5. Romney doesn't seem to be able to get through a week without a polarizing comment.
  6. They really have let Obama off the hook. In fact, I get a round up video of all latenight political humor and 80% of it is directed at Romney and his money. The sad truth is that parodies of Obama just aren't funny.
  7. So was that phantom offensive pass interference call that wiped out the Ravens TD... Still smiling about that today...
  8. Lol...
  9. That was a VERY enjoyable half of football...
  10. Saw this tidbit somewhere this week. Ever since Fitzpatrick signed his new contract, he now leads the league in interceptions thrown... He has 20 and counting....
  11. Congrats.. You scooped Spndchz... Doesn't happen often on this board..
  12. Protests have spread to Sydney, Australia. Astonishing how much has changed in 11 years. When Australian's are chanting "Obama, Obama we like Osama" the world has certainly flipped its lid. Australians too? Seriously? Australians?
  13. So I just finished "No Easy Day" by Mark Owen. Favorite political excerpt from the book has to do with Obama's Fort Campbell visit afterwards. "He [Obama] presented the unit with a Presidential Unit Citation, in recognition of our achievement. It is the highest honor that can be given to a unit. I don't recall much about the speech. It was straight from the speechwriter play book: "You guys are America's best" "You are what America stands for" "Thank you from the American people" "Job well done" After the speech, we posed for a few pictures. Biden kept cracking lame jokes that no one got. He seemed like a nice guy, but reminded me of someone's drunken uncle at Christmas dinner. Before leaving to give a speech to two thousand soldiers from the 101st Airborne, Obama invited the whole team to his residence for a beer." ********* After reading the book, a few things came through to me. This guy does not like Obama. He indicated that Obama wasn't well liked in the Seals. He indicated that Obama is taking credit for things that they did on his order as if he did them. I take that as his opinion and don't care one way or the other. What I did find interesting is him discussing the impacts on the Seals through two administrations. He subtlety details the changes in tactics, techniques and procedures over time. He makes the case that operating as an elite force has more rules now than when he first got in ten years ago. The implication being that Obama has declawed them a bit. He also takes a strong stand about the leaks in the first few hours after the assault was done. If his account is true, then this administration certainly gilded the lily early one. For example, the first reports were Osama saw the American soldiers and knew it was the US that got him. Blatantly untrue per this book as there was a rolling blackout underway and he was shot in the dark before he ever knew who it was. So he clearly is the biggest leaker now, but somehow I think he's going to get away with it. Definitely a good read.
  14. Romney's lone hope at this stage is to watch Obama play the fiddle as the Middle East burns. Obama/Clinton will come under intense scrutiny by Congress over what has happened and what is happening in the Middle East. They do need to answer how they got caught unaware on Sept 11th when intelligence was passed that something was a foot.
  15. Every year the same argument rages about whether the polls mean something or are accurate. I think there is enough evidence to suggest that they are a pretty reasonable sampling about what will happen. Obama is stretching his lead by all reasonable measures. Romney is going to need a real misstep by the Obama administration to reverse the current trend.
  16. Love how all the Democrats are walking back Obama's "ally" comment.
  17. This race was lost for the Republicans at the very beginning when they rolled out the most polarizing set of wannabes candidates in a long time.
  18. I think the passing game is to weak to rely on. Go with your strength. They're better at run blocking than pass blocking. Might as well go with that.
  19. Think we're going to see a good dose of CJ Spiller....
  20. In an interview with Telemundo on Wednesday, Obama said while he does not believe Egypt is an ally of the US, he also does not consider the country an enemy... I find this to be an incredible position as we annually given Egypt 1 billion dollars in aid. So the answer to what price peace apparently is 6 Billion dollars between Egypt and Israel. If they're not an ally, then this is purely a peace price. And why oh why did he choose Cairo back in the early days of his administration to deliver his famous foreign policy address to the middle east? With the violence spreading to Yemen today, it wouldn't surprise me to see Bahrain light up next. As far as presidential politics go, this is yet another event that will hurt Romney's chances. He's just not polished enough to handle the reaction to the live events. Unless a candidate comes from a seasoned foreign policy background, I don't think they can respond in real time without looking like a dolt or I'll informed. Having said all that, Obama policies regarding Libya and his tepid response will certainly come under review. Wesley Clark told him, you break it, you own it. Sure can't be easy being President. Just as Syria was leaving the top of the fold headlines, Libya flares up.
  21. Here some interesting fodder. Sirius/XM has three stations for covering politics POTUS, a left leaning and a right leaning channel... So they call the liberal's channel "Left" and the conservative channel is called "Patriot".
  22. Should be interesting to see how the events in the Middle East changes the debate.
  23. Found it very interesting that the CBS Nightly News had no time in their 30 minutes to talk about Syria or Egypt today.
  24. Not to mention. Xi Jinping is missing
  25. I think 9/11 was an attack on our people and our economy. We went from a surplus to massive spending and deficits seemingly overnight.
