Sabres Trade Erik Johnson to Philadelphia for a 2024 4th Round Pick
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Yes. Some demand to leave because they loose faith, such as Eichel, Reinhart, Montour, Ulmark, ... Or the Sabres might just run of out cap space as the also seem to always plan for the next prospect(s) to bloom. So Mitts gets just as he starts his prime to save dollars for the promise of Quinn/Peterka/Benson et al .... Byram will be looking to get paid after next year. -
What ??! You don’t believe that a .500 team with no power play can magically start scoring goals, in crunch time, and play .900 hockey while 5 other teams simultaneously fall apart?

Typo fixed

Adams created “the narrative”. He said those words What about Quinn getting hurt, and no proven player brought in? Instead he conducted an in-season round robin tryout for Rousek, Biro, Rosen, and Kulich. Meanwhile the team fell out of contention. The forward group was so weak that Benson made the team, and at 18 he was clearly better than the group Adams brought up. oh yeah, he brought in Robinson. Great. Talk about willful ignorance and being dishonest. I will judge him on his record Year 5 is coming.

Is anything that you don’t like or agree with a narrative? Players were subtracted to add the players you mentioned. Unless Adams somehow gets a 27 man roster? Picking Jost off of waivers and trading for Robinson (an AHL player) is really not good enough GM work for my liking, but yes, they all replaced players that are worse. Robinson made Jost expandable, Jost made Bjork expandable, Clifton made Clague and Lybushkin expendable. All KA acquisitions. I think I recall Adams using the “blocker” term in reference to Ulmark and Levi. It’s hard to defend his logic on handling the goaltending at this point since goaltending cost us a playoff berth last year. At least UPL is now proving him right but his goaltending the two prior years were Tokarski, Dell, Anderson, and an AHL level UPL. Mitts for Byram does not disprove or prove anything after 2 just games. Byram looks good but let’s give this trade time, and for this to be a great trade for the team he must also backfill Mitts. They seem to want the backfill to be Krebs since he is getting a serious look, but maybe he brings in a proven vet for 3C? Assuming he does, then you can argue the blocker comment is no longer relevant. This off season let’s see if Adams can up his game with some veteran acquisitions.

Thanks. I’ve have also seen comments in black and white to suggest the opposite on these guys as well. Murray was a curious move and has never had an NHL job since. Krueger was a huge gamble and his selection turned heads because of it. These are poor examples if help JBot, who you didn’t mention, is still well thought of and is one of 3 AGMs on the Kracken. I do not believe that the help he gets from the NHL is anything close to what you get from the NFL.

The whole promote Krebs thing was all part of the trading of Casey. DG spews out 5hat Krebs’ play is driving him getting a look with better scorers. Did Krebs do much as a 4C to get a look at 3C? No, not on the scoresheet anyways. Krebs is young, still growing and developing, was expected to have playmaking skills, but this all looks like a promote from within.
-
My biggest fear is they give Casey’s slot to Krebs. I think that is a drop off that negates the gain of Bryam. Second biggest fear is they don’t sign any other forwards and backfill with unready prospects. I really hope I’m wrong

Yup. They need to ignore all the trade deadline stuff and try to win every game like a real team.

Hello Teammates, I missed another game. Sounds like we won twice. UPL is really playing well. Hard to get too excited anymore but keep the wins coming. Play to win.

Not bad Rico, although I am not convinced hiring Murray was justifiable though. No matter if Terry picked Murray, or if Patty LaF did, it was a bad pick. If you’re new in the business wouldn’t you hire people who were well established in the business to help you navigate it?

Come on man. The historical level of losing should be proof enough. Look at the experience and quality of the leaders he selects to run the team. Do you know how this franchise is viewed across the league? Maybe he hasn’t abandoned them, but he hasn't done anything to make this team better in any way. Almost every decision he makes is worse than his prior decisions. By far the worst owner that the Sabres ever had, and his record is the worst of any NHL owner ever.
-
This is bizzare. Is Adams supposed to get respect and credit for this? I would respect him a lot more if he could hire better coaches, do things to improve the team after 4 years on the job, and maybe even keep our best players.

No. You play to win if you want to establish a winning culture. Sending professional athletes out to purposely lose is part of why we are in this mess.

Until the opponent scores when Byram is in the TV screen.

Sabres Trade Erik Johnson to Philadelphia for a 2024 4th Round Pick
Pimlach replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
He wasn’t sold to the fans but he did help improve the defense by shoring up the bottom 3 and the PK. Unfortunately, you could really see him slow down the past month. This will be his last shot. I thank him for even trying to help this group. Would love to pick his brain on how this team is run. -
Is the Sabres biggest issue upfront the lack of an elite forward?

Tage would be on there if not for the poor 2023-24 season. -

Peterka and Greenway are good players that are missing -
Slow starts are the norm for the Sabres. You play like you practice, and nothing has convinced me that the team culture is not unlike a country club.
