idk where Tuch will end up but, assuming his game keeps evolving the way it seemed to be before the injury I would like to see Tuch with Mitts to start and see if that works. Playmaker plus power forward with more grit is a good combination. But that depends on what Mitts is when he returns. There are no guarantees on that.

Even if there is a stylistic similarity in any way, there simply is no comparison because from what I've seen and understand Krebs is a leader and he gives maximum effort most, if not all, the time. and THAT was not Samson.
-
Oh don't do that to me................. 🙂 I see Matt Duchene comparisons myself. Needs to muscle up a bit though for the NHL to be truly effective. I could see him at center with Cozens at RW or Cozens at center and him at left wing. Quinn or Peterka (depending which way you go at center) as the third line member makes for an intriguing and potentially very good line.

Just for you @Zamboni Before: and after: -
It truly would and I hope they do but I don't think they get all that much credit for all of this. Quinn definitely, Peterka yes, and then any of last year's picks after Power. Power was a consensus #1 pick from just about the entire league. Passing on Power would have been the controversial move. Also Krebs, everybody discussing a Vegas deal wanted Krebs and Tuch is local. They were obvious pieces I would have wanted and likely you would have too and mot people here. Levi is perhaps "identified" but a lot of people were talking about his potential and that was likely the best deal out there so again, no great accomplishment. To me, that draft team is up for their first real test this year (assuming we do not get Wright, the obvious #1) and we won't know if they got it right for about 3 years after that.

lol, only when I see him mentioned here. But I am encouraged you first spelled his name wrong (Rinehart). This is promising. He is destined to be forgotten. -
What we’ve learned from the Jack Eichel conclusion
PerreaultForever replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Oh ya definitely huge similarities and it's definitely a reset and redo but there are a few key differences. We're not going to be basing it around a "generational talent", we do have some very promising goalies in that prospect pool, we might actually have a deep prospect pool this time. There are some question marks as always, but if this pool of potential talent craps out it will seem like some kind of curse. Just doesn't seem likely. Most significantly perhaps, the character of many of our prospects seems better, and that will matter. Lastly, comparing Tuch and Kane is just wrong . Really wrong . -

Can't let that false image of him go unchecked. Just can't. I will probably bring it back up every time Devon Levi gets a shutout for us 🙂 -

"in and around" but never deep in tight when it mattered. Old argument not worth getting back into, he's gone, but we have not been in front of the net like Washington always is for years. Still aren't, but slightly better this year. Cozens still needs to get stronger to play his style effectively at this level. He also needs better linemates. Still think he should be in Rochester this year. -
Well that's likely true about Tuch. Most of the rest are placeholders and scrubs. Not sure if they actually saw a future for Bjork, but if they did it's faulty. I guess I just don't see this common similarity thing. The two Russians for example seem like very different players. Polpatov intrigues me. But then you probably already know I like power forwards 🙂

Just one question. Who's Eichel? -

Same as all games against Washington for the last idk 5, 6 years, longer? They don't really break a sweat, they don't have to, they own the front of the net and they walk to an easy victory. I think we might be the only team in the league where Washington doesn't even bother hitting anyone cause they don't have to. We didn't even have the Risto Ovi battles so not much entertainment value here. Blah boring hockey. -
Hard workers and play with intensity, that is always desirable, but prior to Tuch, I don't see him actually bringing that in to the team at the pro level . Will have to wait and see if that is an actual thing with the prospects. No you're right. For some reason in my mind I had him the year before.
-
Peterka isn't his. Tuch I know, but I'd ask did he get him in the deal for his style of play or for his local connections and desire to play in Buffalo? idk but I think it's a possibility. So the Russians, are they similar players to Tuch ? I honestly don't know much about them.

Can I stop you right there for a sec. I need to know what an Adams type player is. I've heard the rhetoric, but don't see it on the ice currently and not enough drafting yet to see a trend or consistency. What exactly is an Adams type player????

Too early to get into this.

I'm not arguing against Savoie. He's definitely in the mix. Overall I think our bar for what qualifies as grit is in a different place but that's okay. Long way from the draft at this point. I don't think he is "soft" but this is my point. WE already have playmakers in the cupboard. We need power forwards.

NHL development: tracking Sabre kids in the NHL
PerreaultForever replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
Bjork still a "kid"? I kind of think he's already peaked. But he's a whatever to me. Thompson has been a surprise. With his size I was locked on the idea of him getting more physical and being a power forward. My critique was he didn't seem to have the desire or meanness in him (so to speak). So hats off to Granato for finding him a role he can excel in. He's not overly physical, as I feared, but he's using that giraffe body and long reach to poke check and steal pucks and control a lot of the middle of the ice. Developing his passing skills and awareness and selecting his shooting moments a bit better. For lack of a better analogy he's kind of quarterbacking the line now and center seems to be a much better position for him. -
Not "tall", bigger, heavier guys who use it. Grit. Tenacity. We need to add power forwards and2 way players, not soft skaters and playmakers. We have enough of that in the system now. imo

Should the Sabres go after Patrick Kane?
PerreaultForever replied to sabrefanday1's topic in The Aud Club
So what you're really saying is these guys need a good Kane'ing . -
I know it's not a lot to go on but Miroshnichenko is definitely a goal scorer. Ovechkin comparisons are out there and I think that is too lofty, but he does have some similarities and a good shot. I'm considering your comments on Geekie and they may be right. I have to see more. My wish list is to get players to complement what we already have in the cupboard. Depends how high our pick is I suppose. We could use more size though.

I have to see more and research more but I'm not sold on Lambert. I like Miroshnichenko better and, although again I need to look deeper, I kind of like Conor Geekie.
