Your Ideal Sabres Lineup for the Remainder of This Season?
PerreaultForever replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
Why are people saddling Cozens with Girgensens and Okposo? If I had my way those two would never see the ice again. The team we saw the last couple games without them was a better team than it was with them. They are not fast, stuck in their ways, and tainted by the losing years. Time to move on. I don't care about Rochester. Quinn is the only guy I'm sending back once he's fully healed because he's too physically underdeveloped at this point. Maybe send Krebs down if Mitts takes the 3C spot. maybe. -
that was VERY enjoyable for a change. Most of all I was impressed that we played much better team defense. Blocked shots, broke up plays, back checked, even threw a few hits. Solid team play. We haven't seen much of that this year so this is very encouraging. I really like Samuelsson. Definitely something we were missing. We could use another one like him on the right side to complete this D. Reminds me a lot of Bill Hajt for you old timers. The light at the end of the tunnel is showing, and it just might not be a train after all.

But he was 1 guy. What did they do clone him? Is there another pro sports team named after an individual? Sabres is good. Bandits is good. Bisons is a little weird as it's sort of the Bufflao buffalos but at least you can pluralize it. Bills is just odd and although I obviously know who Buffalo Bill was, the name makes me first think payment due. But anyway, I'd like to see them win, even though I'm not a fan.

Idk about reddit, but if you look around here they're pretty upset about everything, Risto included. https://www.hockeyforums.net/forum/8-philadelphia-flyers/ General feeling is they need a tear down, much like the feeling was on Risto's last team 🙂

Good luck with your game Bills fans (even if your football team has one of the dumbest names in professional sports :))

Oh please...............he was a bust before the head shot. I don't hate the guy and I have nothing against him as a person, and I know he had a personal battle but the only thing that matters to me in these discussions is the decisions management makes and what ends up on the ice, and the simple fact is he was a bad signing. Go on, be a fan, keep loving the crap that we've had for over a decade. Keep making excuses, keep on believing if it helps you sleep.

Yes, it was a great goal, and we need more players driving towards the net in a similar manner. Their D was crap on that play, but that is what Dahlin has the skill to exploit. I think Power will give us this as well by the way.

I said it in the game thread, he has the body of a child. Guy has skills but he needs to beef up and bulk up badly or this sort of thing will ruin him .
-
Part of the problem in the sense that he was signed to big money and term to be a top line winger, 20-30 goal scorer and he was a bust in that role. Girgs was a bust as a first round draft pick. I don't hate those guys, but you can add them to the mistakes were made side of the leger. What I want to see is an end to failed players tossed onto the 4th line like we've done over these years and focus instead on true role players that we need. I want a 4th line that is a tenacious pain in the ass line to play against. Tough and aggravating that can not cost us goals against but can instead spend time in their end wearing down the opposing D as they give the top lines a rest. HARD TO PLAY AGAINST has, and still is, the missing ingredient for the Sabres. We won't be good until we get that at least for part of the roster.

I know quite a few Flyers fans and that is definitely not true. Every single one of them was okay or happy with the deal when it was made but now hates it and sees it as one of the GM mistakes. General feeling with them is that Clarke and Holmgren are stuck on an old school logic that has ruined the franchise. Risto is seen as part of that ethic/idea.

I'm a little late here as I had to record this one, but I'm going to be a contrarian to the negativity I'm reading here and to my own frequent pessimism. I don't really care about the score, season doesn't matter and Dell was ridiculously bad. Flopping around and turning around and losing his stick, guy is a clown. Had a lucky but horrible night. We have no goalie right now plain and simple but whatever, we knew that. This was I think the first game where I saw some really encouraging moments for the future. Tuch's best game as a Sabre by far. That was more of what I had hoped for when we got him. Very promising. Cozen's looked good. Excellent on the breakaway. The skill is starting to show at this level. Kid is going to be great. Tage still playing well and controlling the ice at times. Samuelsson solid and is perhaps already, in terms of defense, our best defender out there. We have half our shutdown pair. Lastly, Quinn does in fact have some real talent. Going to be a sniper. Just a question at this point if we're talking Ray Shepard, Rick Martin, or Alex Mogilny. Bright future there without a doubt. Just one thing though, he's a child. Bulk that kid up and get him extra time in the weight room. Until he grows, we're going to have to protect him. Adams needs to add a couple tough guys to this line up to protect these kids from the Wilson's of the league or we will be in trouble. I am encouraged.

Well it's about time. Like French Collection said I'm interested to see if he can play like the end of last year and be a big part of this rebuild or if that was just an anomaly and he really isn't going to be much of anything. Body of work is too small at this point to know where he actually will fit in.

I know a lot of people were excited with getting Pommer back in that deal but I never liked trading away Foligno. Heart and soul guy and would definitely fit that guys who want to be here thing Adams talks about with his legacy and local connections.

Currently, I'm not sure defense is a strength

I'm getting confused. I think maybe we are actually arguing for the same thing using different words. -
We should have kept him.
-
Of course he was, and that's his job too, but the response is still bad. What would Gretzky have done in an Edmonton interview? He would have said he has to be better. That's the right evasive answer.

I'm with you in part, but I don't think you want to be trading away many picks for position or anything else. There might be a big hole at RHD but this team needs more of everything and as such BPA is still the best approach and sort it out later as you see who develops. This is why I talk about clear direction and identity though. I hope they have that in their own heads. I wish I knew what it was. Then you do draft the BPA that fits that identity when there are players ranked close in your lists. -
As usual our universes are in complete disagreement. Players aren't accountable enough these days imo and there needs to be more direct questions and they need to be called out. Why show up at all for a press conference if all you're going to say is we have to be better at everything. Draisaitl's attitude shows me why that team might be doing so badly. All fine in the fair weather, lacking character when it counts. Carolina looked really good. Bruins looked old and slow.

Potential Sabres deadline moves(sellers)…
PerreaultForever replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Aud Club
Personally I think people put too much stock in that comment. I think he only said it as a justifier for trading Eichel and maybe the rest of the tear down.
