  1. Pity we didn't value this RHD, just what we need. Sabres are dumb.
  2. In the past. I'm not convinced that is the same idea going forward. They certainly didn't spend this year .
  3. Oh definitely. OT is for Eichel types and we don't have those guys any more. Tage is our best forward this year but he's not an open ice guy, he's had success using that reach and size in traffic. OT is all about possession and speed. Only Dahlin is a decent OT player for us. 1. Tage. That's all I got.
  4. We're not getting much for any of our FA players. Miller might get us a decent pick (a first is laughable) but I don't expect more than a 4th or 5th. The only thing Sabres are in a position to do is take on salary from contenders who need to open up space to add somebody from somewhere else. If this is a serious rebuild they can get some assets with all that cap room but that of course depends on Terry. I fully expect us to do virtually nothing.
  5. Ya, I can't stand that. They lose all credibility with that stuff. The bar is set way too low.
  6. This team................ Skated well in the first period. Pretty much how you define a low event hockey game, but aside from an anemic PP they were the better team until the third. and the OT was pathetic. Why is it this team, filled with young players who should be fit and energetic, can't seem to sustain their game for 3 periods? Why do they always look tired at the end? Are they in on the tank? Granato want them to play crap at the end of games on purpose? It just boggles the mind how the same thing keeps repeating. I'm starting to question what we were sold on Tuch. Underwhelming and he too always looks lethargic and tired in the third. I expected more energy and impact from him. Only upside, Samuelson looks ready. A D man who actually plays defense what a concept! Him and Pysyk on the PK was a vast improvement.
  7. They don't even have that. They have billions against valuations, estimations, futures etc etc etc and in some cases it's a house of cards.
  8. They're just mixing and matching to see what sticks - for next year.
  9. Sadly, this is probably true. They might look to a free agent as a back up over Tokarski but that's likely it.
  10. Pat LaFontaine coming in as senior advisor 🙂 I don't see how selling a minority share is an "organizational change" and I doubt Terry would give control to a minority owner so I doubt any of that is true. Karmanos to Vancouver is a possible I suppose. Higher status for him to stay? Maybe. Given the history of Terry's team I doubt whatever change this is will be anything I'd be on board with but you never know. Maybe finally after all this time he'll admit he's been wrong and change it all the right way. But I doubt it.
  11. Guess the Sabres wanted to get this over with so they could go watch the Bills or something cause that was a sad excuse for a hockey game. Total lack of effort and the exact same problem areas. No net front presence on our PP and no control of the front on theirs. Dahlin seems to struggle more in faster games, like this one. Horrible hockey game, if you can call it that. Didn't like the Tuch, Tage, Skinner line. No chemistry there. I'm starting to wonder about a lot of Granato's combinations lately. Seems like he's just tossing into a blender to see what happens. Guess that's what a tank gets you.
  12. I find you constantly talking down in an arrogant "I know better" manner myself but I don't care. You are what you are, I am what I am. I think over the years it's become quite clear we see the game very very differently and what we want to see on the ice is different. I think, in terms of the Sabres, you are likely to get more of what you want but imo that will not translate into a winning team until we get more of what I want. You know, in all honesty, I think if we both worked for the Sabres in their scouting department we would hate each other, maybe not even speak, BUT, when you brought in your list of 10 and I brought in my different list of 10, the 1 guy that would end up on both lists would be the guy.
  13. Yes, from what I saw in the games Fitzgerald played up here I didn't see much difference in terms of ranking. They are different, but I see a lot of flaws in Jokiharju's game and do not think he is a top pairing guy. 5/6 at best.
  14. I hope so too, but I don't think you are. Some people here have put a LOT of faith in Mitts based on a tiny body of work in a late season few games. I doubt he ever amounts to anything substantial, but I was wrong about Tage so I hope I'm wrong here too.
  15. Power Dahlin Jokiharju Fitzgerald Pysek Miller Bryson Prow Butcher Each grouping about equal. Not ranking the Rochester guys who haven't played up this year. Just haven't seen them. Power isn't the best yet, but he will be. Eventual Norris trophy winner, hopefully as a Sabre.
  16. I am being optimistic. Yes, you need as many as possible at all positions, but you can't have that, so if you end up with too many at one position that's when you deal.
  17. I agree with this. I certainly hope they are not tanking AGAIN next year but I wouldn't put anything past this ownership.
  18. Again, my focus was on the pairing of them, not on Dahlin specifically. The two teams cited were for a recent comparison and nothing more. Comparing the way Boston - as a team - played Tampa, to the way we - as a team - played Tampa is a very telling comparison and difference. It accentuates our deficiencies. Deficiencies that will haunt us, even if we get offensively competitive in the future. I really don't know why you can't see that. Question. Do you think being first on the Sabres with hits is very meaningful? We, as a team have the least hits per game in the league. That's a fact. https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/what-team-has-most-hits-per-game and add to that the simple fact most nights teams don't bother playing physical with us because they simply don't have to. You might not realize this sine you didn't play hockey, but being physical is hard. Really hard. It's hard demanding work and wears you out. You only do it when you have to. WE, are an incredibly soft team. The last sentences, the bolded ones, we agree on, and that was the point I was making. The Dahlin Jokiharju pairing is NOT a good pairing imo. and definitely not a good PK pairing, and that's what I said.
  19. personally I've never liked all star games and haven't watched one since I was a teenager. Pointless.
  20. 2023 as well? Oh man, I hope the master plan isn't tanking for Bedard. I mean he is going to be a hell of a player but no more , just no more.
  21. Ya, I was referring to the pairing of the two of them as well but LGR4GM always takes it to the silly extreme and thinks any time you talk about controlling or clearing the front of the net you're advocating 80s hockey and talking Larry Playfair or something. The simple recent comparison is Boston-Tampa vs. Buffalo-Tampa. Against us they owned the slot and the front are in general and scored at will. Boston, on the other hand controlled the front of the net and shut them down. They have smooth skaters like Grezlyck and Reilly, but they also added Forbert to Carlo (and McAvoy is big and strong too) as they see the need. Joker and Dahlin is not a good pairing imo and it's a terrible PK one.
  22. He's a playmaker. Not good on the wall, not good back checking. Not really a sniper either. Don't see it myself. If you want to go that way Cozens makes a better winger, but I like him where he is. I still see him as a ROR type down the road.
  23. ideally I'd want a solid veteran core to lead and let the kids grow around (and slowly displace) but given where we were at, and needing to dismantle the so called core I don't really know if there was another way for Adams to do this. More stability is definitely needed, but it might take time.
  24. I agree. Hayden's a 4th line role player and we need those. We need a few more. Wish we'd never thrown Lazar away. I'd rather he was on this roster than Bjork. Fourth line in Boston is solid with him on it. I firmly believe we don't have enough muscle on the roster to protect our young players and unlike Adams I would have added some this year like when Zach McEwen was waived and picked up by Philly for example. Keep opposition teams honest while the kids develop properly.
