  1. I'd much rather have him AND Lamoureaux AND Warren in the system. Let them compete it out and let us be as stacked in RHD as we are in LHD. I will feel better if we sign 1 or even 2 RHD in free agency, but if not, the hole remains now and in the future.
  2. Exactly. Any of those goalie deals would have made us better, but this one was the best. A 3 year deal for a veteran is perfect too in terms of development curves for UPL and then Levi or Portillo . Holtby? Not much left. Toronto and Edmonton cleared cap room so I would guess that's Kuemper and Campbell to one or the other. Doesn't leave much else. It's looking like they have no immediate playoff plans. It's not a tank for Bedard, but they might want to be in that lottery.
  3. Well that's certainly a name and a half. RJ probably looked at that one and was glad he retired.
  4. Yes, this definitely seems like an analytics based pick. Guy loves to shoot, that's for sure. We will see if he can learn to play a complete game. Might turn into an Afiniganov or Satan type.
  5. I like this one. Big upside potential. With his age and frame he can still grow into being bigger and stronger. Good pick for the 6th round.
  6. I don't hate this pick but I also don't know that much about him. I think there is potential here, but he will take quite a bit of development and even then maybe yes maybe no.
  7. I hate this pick. I'm not against drafting a goalie. Matter of fact I'm all for a goalie every year, but Kokko would have been fine or even gambling on a guy like Dyck in a later round but this just tells me the plan is slow and long and we didn't try for a goalie now. Any of those goalie deals would have been okay imo, Yzerman knocked it out of the park on Husso, why didn't we do that??? The thing that really annoys me is Warren was right there for the taking and we passed. We will regret this big time unless this goalie is spectacular.
  8. Which would have been the same argument for us. I personally don't think he takes 6 years, more like 4 maybe 3 to be able to slot in to the bottom and keep developing. I'm actually more pissed that we passed on Warren too. So I can accept passing on Lamoureaux in the first round, we picked a skill guy so fair enough, but then also passing on Warren in the second? I'm not happy with that.
  9. I think they said something similar on Sportsnet. Should put fans in the seats or something. Definitely has a fast exciting skillset. Considering who was already taken in the first 8 I didn't see a better option. At one point many scouts had him in the top 3.
  10. I wish we'd done a Dach trade more than a DeBrincat trade, but I'd have liked either. Ottawa is trying to take the leap forward that I felt we were ready for. Will be interesting to see what happens, but the immediate playoff competition got stronger even if our long term potential might be greater.
  11. I think it's always possible that Thompson goes back to being a winger. I know we all saw the leap forward at center, and I personally would leave him there, but maybe Granato et al always saw this move as temporary? There are a lot of possibilities, depending on how development goes. We should have depth though, that's almost certain.
  12. I hope we see some size, some grit and some D on the second day. Just to balance things out a little. BPA all the way though.
  13. maybe the Murray thing was leaked onto twitter to push the trade forward? I wouldn't put it past teams these days to leak rumours onto twitter for their own ends and deal making.
  14. Taken with the very next pick at 29 but whatever. I'm sure the NHL.com analysis here is wrong and you are right. Get back to me in 3 years. NHL.com analysis: Players with Lamoureux's size and skill set are incredibly rare; he's only the third right-shot defenseman 6-7 or taller to be drafted, along with Tyler Myers (No. 12, 2008) and Kristian Kudroc (No. 28, 1999). He skates very well for his size, and is working with a nutritionist and trainer to add strength without losing the mobility and agility that makes him special. His physicality also gives the Coyotes an element missing among their defenseman prospects. With Cooley, Geekie and Lamoureux, the Coyotes added three top-end prospects to their pipeline.
  15. Russians man, that IS a smile. 🙂
  16. Somebody is going to be a winger, could be Mitts, could be Cozens. Maybe they feel it wasn't the position and Thompson will end up a winger again, who knows? might mean they don't think Krebs will be the guy. Centers to wing is generally easier than wingers to center though. This guy is a shooter and a goal scorer. He could match up well with a playmaker like Ostlund or maybe Savoie. I personally would have taken Lamoureux but this pick is fine. We're obviously all in on offense and speed.
  17. I don't hate this pick. Going to need to develop physically for sure, but again, like Savoie, he has skills. Might eventually match up well with Quinn.
  18. Small but super skilled. I would have preferred Gauthier or Kasper but since they were gone Savoie was BPA at the point they picked. I think he will be just fine and a good fit.
  19. Can't believe Shane Wright fell all the way to #4. Seattle got really lucky. Can't help feeling Adams had the ability to be the one involved in one of those cap clearing moves. Edmonton paid a hefty price to dump Kassian. The Toronto and Edmonton moves I would imagine mean the FA goalie market will be that much harder for us. If he doesn't get that done now, it'll be two years running and maybe a 3rd and 5th for Georgiev would have been a better plan. Winnipeg agreed with me on McGroarty (who has apparently been working with a figure skater so maybe the skating thing will be solved Skinner style) and I told you guys way back Lamoureux would go in the first. I don't hate our picks though and they definitely fit with what the plan seems to be,
  20. Blackhawks entertaining offers on just about everybody apparently. DeBrincat, Dach, there is an opportunity here for KA if done carefully. idk, I just hope we do SOMETHING interesting that makes us a better team next year and not just draft players that might make us good in 2024 0r 25. Guess I'm impatient, but I see opportunities.
  21. I was just reading that thread and you are right, the view of Murray is pretty negative. I think he could be better than that but he would be a bit of a gamble. Reclamation restart kind of thing. idk, I'm just not that negative on him myself. The trades in that thread seem crazy though. If one of those 3 way retention draft pick swap deals actually happened I'd be gobsmacked.
  22. Husso being "linked" and "kicking the tires" on Murray, the one thing we can conclude from all these rumours is Adams is TRYING to solve the goalie issue this year so tanking for Bedard isn't the plan. Let's just hope he manages to solve it.
  23. Ullmark's not that kind of guy. His agent however, might have been dishonest but the rookie GM should have known that agents can't be trusted. Water under the bridge though. Hopefully Adams solves the issue this year.
  24. I prefer to look at this in a more balancing of the universe yin yang kind of way. We had one that was horrific, so why not one that plays like an allstar to balance things out? I heard this Mason Marchment thing in a few places. I personally would like it.
