  1. In regard to Kane, the team clearly needs to change player's perceptions so that we aren't on 10 team no trade lists any more. Winning can do that, but if you want to speed up the process bringing in a respected big name who can talk to players and the media about how much he enjoys it would do a lot to change those perceptions but whatever, let it take another decade or more. As for Bishop, the point is Bishop is NOT an ASSET. He's dead money. Butcher was arguably an asset but not really as he was horrible. Monahan has had injury issues but he could play and be an asset and he can be deadline dealt. They are not comparable moves.
  2. So you want to praise Adams for a deal that never happened? So that's his "creative thinking"? I guess you can say that is creative, but thinking would require knowing about 10 team no trade clauses and such. If the argument is Adams WANTS to make moves but CAN'T because nobody wants to come to Buffalo, that I will accept. It seems to be true.
  3. So then what you are saying is that, contrary to the arguments of many here over the last few years, the truth is, as some have said, that nobody wants to come to Buffalo. In fact, it's ANYWHERE BUT Buffalo. Ya, that's definitely possible. Which, as I've said before, is why it is vital to get Kane to finish his career here.
  4. Who? Bishop and a 7th is "significant"? Go talk to Liger about it you guys seem to agree.
  5. Ben Bishop is an asset? What are you smoking???? You're comparing Butcher and Bishop to Monahan as if they're equivalents. You just bored this summer and want to argue for the sake of arguing. This is silly.
  6. Kulich was good against Canada. He's a smart quick player with good skills and strong effort. I see big things in his future and expect him to develop into a future Sabre. Possibly a star. Sweden is a soft uninspired hockey team. Rosen is a soft uninspired hockey player. If he becomes a significant Sabre I will be pleasantly surprised, but I doubt it.
  7. Montreal has the kind of creative thinking the Sabres seem to lack. OR, they just don't want to spend money. Of course I'd have made this deal. It's a deal that makes you better in exchange for $, as a fan what's not to like? The chemistry argument is a moot point imo. What would it disrupt? Eakin's out Monahan's in, and you deal him at the deadline (as I'd guess Montreal will unless they love him there). Assets for cash, but that's not the Sabres way.
  8. Okay fair enough. No, I've long forgotten the first scene she ever appeared in so that's fair. Rhyming sequence as they call it in the biz. That makes it a little better.
  9. Would not shock me if this team signed him to a one year deal, but I hope not.
  10. Injury plagued player. Not sure what he has left to bring but it also looks like Montreal isn't giving anything up so it's worth the gamble for them.
  11. Czechs wanted it more. They battled. The USA team was fast and highly skilled but didn't bring the same level of intensity imo. Maybe over confidence, maybe lack of preparation, whatever the case, they didn't bring it when it mattered. Jirichek is going to be a beast.
  12. Kulich was very good. Really strong work along the wall to get the puck back for the first goal and he showed a great burst of speed on the empty netter. Unlike Rosen, he seems like a guy who maybe elevates his game when it matters. Chechia's goalie swap paid dividends too.
  13. Sweden survives a less than inspired effort 2-1. Most of team Sweden doesn't inspire me. Rosen is a very passive player who lets others do the harder work and he quits on plays imo. He has skills, but I honestly do not think he has what it takes. Lysell looks like a potential NHLer. Andrea was good, Olausson has potential. Not many others.
  14. Hence the paradox. You can't sign big names because they don't believe you have a wining team and you need big names to have that winning team (until the kids develop fully) . If you sign one, perhaps you convince others and you do turn that corner. The term might be the point of contention. otherwise I see no reason not to overpay a few people shorter term to resolve that issue and turn the corner.
  15. Good play by Lysell on the PP gives Rosen the yawning cage and he puts it in like a goal scorer should. Latvia with a 5 minute major here in the third. See what happens.
  16. I guess I'm in the minority. I didn't hate the ending, but I thought the "regrets" theme was a weak attempt at a cliche redemption arc. Okay, Jimmy pays the price to win back Kim's favour/love. Not very original imo. Disappointing for a show that had better twists and turns along the way. I guess it's the sort of "happy" ending. I personally would have preferred something darker or even a full on return to the comedic aspect as Saul, originally, was pretty much a comic relief character in Breaking Bad. The B&W also lost it's point in the end as, if Jimmy is back and redeemed, the final scene with Kim should have gone back to colour. but whatever. It was decent tv.
  17. https://screenrant.com/bob-odenkirk-new-show-straight-man-explained/ Sounds like it'll be a midlife crisis dramedy.
  18. he isn't underrated at all. He gets tons of love here from many people.
  19. Kind of a moot point because if I name a player, they signed elsewhere, so you can say they wouldn't have signed here etc etc but the reality is you just don't know what negotiations could bring (or even trades). There were options, especially in goal. If Campbell couldn't have been persuaded I would have gone after Husso and/or Vanacek (maybe both) . So there isn't much left, but you could still sign Kadri and Subban and this team would be a better team for the next couple years than it is now. Not ideal choices, but not a concern as I doubt there's any additions at all.
  20. But therein lies the paradox. If you bring in those higher end FAs you can compete now. Punch had it right, "could have upgraded the C, D and G positions and still given their kids opportunities to develop and beat out a viable player". Filling glaring holes strategically while primarily developing and playing your youth is also a viable plan, and one that imo earns dividends sooner.
  21. I know I'm in the minority, but I'm going to stick with what I said before. Naming him captain would be a mistake. Kyle and Zemgus should both be deadline dealt.
  22. Ya, but it's 3 on 3 OT not real hockey, they ALL skated 180 feet.
  23. I actually would sign him for the right price (and relatively shorter term) because a veteran D man added to this group wouldn't be a bad thing in the short term. Even if he ends up eventually on the bottom pairing the leadership would be valuable. He wouldn't have been my first choice, but if he's interested I'd consider it at this point.
