  1. Except they did dominate. They started skating (they sleep walked through the 1st, trap game for them and you can see with Kinkaid in there they considered us less significant than Vancouver). They controlled the puck and physically dominated. Not really hitting, just strong on the puck, shielding with their bodies and totally dominating the front of the net and along the boards. There is some truth to your point on match ups though. I don't think it was out coached. Once the Sabres fell behind Granato was more concerned with getting Thompson and his top players out there and Boston gave Bergeron more ice time. They shut open ice play down more and thus our chances became few and were mostly one and done shots from a distance. With luck (maybe Pilut's post shot goes in, the high stick challenge was a high stick, maybe a bounce) this could have been close or a win, but only because Boston started crap (by their standards).
  2. I see Miles Wood has 6 goals for them. I always liked that guy. We could use a Miles Wood on our roster. Also looks like Hischier has his game back so that's part of it I guess. Highes coming into his own. Also seems like Vanecek is working out. I remember a bunch of us here thought KA should have snapped him up when he was available too. Another miss.
  3. Has anyone seen New Jersey play this year? Are they for real? How are they doing it?
  4. Cozens ALMOST got the title tonight against Boston but just not quite.
  5. I don't think Boosh was any sort of genius move or anything but he was an addition (not a draft pick) and he is an improvement over what we had. If he's playing above third pairing though it really says your D isn't that good.
  6. Pretty good effort overall. They got in the passing lanes well and disrupted the Bruins game early on but keep in mind from what I saw the Bruins pretty much slept through the first half plus and only played their A game in the 3rd. Anderson was pretty good. Bruins dominated the dirty areas in front and on the wall as always. Tage's goal was nice. He played well. I thought Cozens played well. The D was spotty as usual. At least Hall didn't score 🙂
  7. Ya, that's how I remember it too. Ted actually had them winning a few games despite the line up and then Murray ditched all the goalies. I think Ted knew he was being sacrificed but he had pride and he kept trying to win. He was stubborn and bull headed, but Ted was a good competitive coach in his time and he had players competing as best they could as well.
  8. I would assume any deal to take him off the Bruins hands would involve the Bruins adding a sweetener. So you didn't claim him but maybe if they throw you a (idk) 3rd rounder? 2nd? Not sure what it would take.
  9. As we all know, he's pretty much relying on the draft and is comfortable building slowly. Lybushkin was a good add but he really hasn't done a whole lot in terms of immediate hole filling and improvements. For the drafting, well we shall see in time.
  10. Been saying this for years. and it's not just the defensemen, a lot of the forwards don't do their job defensively either.
  11. Mike Reilly is down in Providence but not playing. Rumour has it they are working on a trade to somewhere................... (I doubt it's Buffalo)
  12. I think my ipad threw itself off the bridge.
  13. If those lines play out against what Boston usually does, you have Thompson vs. Bergeron which should be interesting but likely we win zero face offs all night. Cozens line will have their hands full with Pasternak and Hall and Coyle's line will absolutely destroy Mitts line. But you never know. Boston has to have an off night at some point. Maybe this is their "trap game".
  14. Pat LaFontaine put a curse on them. We don't deserve it, but we have an owner who knows nothing about hockey constantly hiring inexperienced people and flipping the plan over and trying again and never handing the keys over to an experienced hockey guy(s) who knows what he's doing and isn't learning on the job making mistakes. The best players on this roster were acquired by JBot. KA flipped the assets Murray acquired for picks and prospects (Tuch excepted) that may or may not pan out. If they do, it'll be closer to being fixed, if they don't, it's just gone full circle and gotten us nowhere. If Pegula had handed this team over to somebody like Rick Dudley years ago we wouldn't be in this mess.
  15. He reaches his peak when his linemates are on his level (or closer to it).
  16. Must the Sabres always suck and the only highlight we ever have is winning the draft lottery.
  17. I want to see Eichel get booed every shift. Sadly, I think this might be Eichel's revenge game. I haven't seen Vegas play this year but if it's Cassidy hockey, well, we have struggled against that style for years.
  18. obviously finding a way to keep his job but he's pretty much taken over DesLauriers role there. 4th fight this season already.
  19. Seems like old Nathan Beaulieu is fighting somebody just about every night this year. https://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/n265831
  20. They did but that's only step one. They still have to come up with another 6 million plus I believe. Forbert might go on LTIR but more still has to happen. I'd still take Reilly, but at this point with their squeeze I'd want them to toss in a higher mid level draft pick, maybe even ask for a 2nd rounder. Craig Smith is another name tossed around as an overpaid has been. Same thing. I'd want a solid pick or prospect to take him, but I think there is an opportunity to get something from them.
  21. I think that's a fair assessment of what they are doing. I'm not convinced it's the right approach though. Not at all.
  22. I don't really disagree with you but to me not caring about winning vs. winning not being priority numero uno is a distinction that kind of doesn't matter. To me. It amounts to the same thing. I'm pretty sure it is a VERY long timeline, but I don't have to like that. As a fan I am sick and tired of "next year". We've heard all that before. To me, setting a standard and an expectation for giving it your all and trying to win every night is a cornerstone. Philly was supposed to be crap (and maybe still are) but that's the approach they've taken. Culture first. I'm simply afraid this will cycle around AGAIN and this batch will lose their love or get comfortable with a low bar and round and round and round we go.
