The way it works is the salary cap gets set at 50% of HRR(hockey related revenue). Which basically consists of gate fees, board advertisement, apparel and so forth. Certain things don't go towards HRR, such as the 500M Vegas paid to get a team. Right now the league is projecting an increase of 6M which would increase the cap by 3M. If anyone really cares about this crap I can elaborate, but it is all very complex.

Comparing Tavares to Okposo, Ehrhoff and Leino is crazy. He's a superstar! Not doubt about it. If he came here and didn't produce it would be time to sell the team and burn the arena. Anytime you can acquire a player like that without losing assets (not including cap room) you do it. Trade him after a season for 4 1sts if you have to. If he would come here for what he's worth 10.5M-11M do whatever you can to make it happen.

Not necessarily accurate on the increase in profit margins. Those 2 figured are off of a 0%-5% inflator which the NHLPA gets to decide if it takes effect. So as it stand today is a projected increase of 6M in HRR, which would be 3M. I don't believe they used the inflator this past season. Also not sure how many times they're allowed to use it? Possibly 5% max until the CBA expires. Edit: upon review NHLPA can inflate salary cap 5% a year, but it would increase the escrow the players have to pay so it would actually decrease most players salary(net earning- not on the salary cap)

I agree but having a coach that going to enforce that standard should help achieve said standard no? I like JBot as well as Housley. Ny no means am i saying bring back teddy... but not having heart or a compete level is so frustrating. Definetly going further with housley then we would with Nolan. Ted Nolan coached a team with significantly less talent-at arguably every position- to more points then were projected to finish with. How is it possible? Is he a better coach? Hypothetically speaking,how many points would our sabres have at this point in the season, with Nolan coaching. How many points would Eichel have? Would the team be better or worse off in your mind? I'm all for hiring Nolan as an assistant, to bring guys to the dark room and put them over his knee if need be. Is that what the team needs?

No, don't spend a dime-in cap space-that isn't going to help the team once/if we quit sucking huge knob. We're not going to be good before the deals are up so basically wait until they're all off the books

Antipin! Every game he gets a little more comfortable, a bit more confident. I have been very impressed with his game this far considering weeks ago he couldn't speak English! From what I've seen so far I expect him to become one of the better pick moving defenseman in the league. He has alot of learning to do yet, but the future could be very promising for him. Who knows how far along the curve he actually is but my opinion is he's just scratching the surface. Wouldn't be surprised to see him finish the season with 25-30 points. Down the road could see him with 35-50pts.

No team is paying 3 firsts for a rental player. Tavares wouldn't even fetch that without a contract

Still very early but I have been very impressed with Pouliots work ethic in the last 3-5 games. Leading by example, dude hasn't been giving up on plays and wins most of his battles. If we can get our skill guys playing like that we will be fine!

Eichel had his best game of the season. Definetly need everyone engaged like they were in this one, 60 mins a night every game night.

Couldn't of been happening when he played for the sabres right? You can't buy out a player who is injured... I mean he could of had the symptoms and not really known anything serious but we could of just stuck him on LTIR

It's my opinion that those who think Toews is over rated, agree that ROR isn't worth the money or isnt that great. Maybe different valuations on 2 way play? Every team needs that consistent shutdown center. O'Reilly is one of the top players in the league in the regard, that's why he made team Canada.

Delusional wasn't the right word I guess. However IMO Montreal is a much better team then the NJD. My point was if you were expecting more then 4pts in the first 10 games,you're probably wearing blue and gold tinted glasses. Realistically I didn't expect much to start the season. I did however expect to see effort! Our problem lately has been lack of skill. It's a really tough league to add skill,it takes time to add it for a good price (Soughr after free agents often overpaid). That's a better problem to have, these guys can try harder but they can't double their skill overnight. We have a coachable problem so I'm all for letting the coach figure it out. And ya, it'll take more then 3 games. Probably more then 15

Bang on! It's this simple! Ask yourself, if Ted Nolan was coaching this team would we have more points? If the answer is yes, we need a better effort. All that being said, realistically did anyone expect us to have more then 1 point? You're probably delusional. Give it some time, guys are thinking a new coach and some new faces automatically equal wins. Well it won't, gotta buy in and work hard. Hopefully we just got beat bad enough that that starts to click in. Alot to be concerned about forsure, but Pittsburgh got beat 10-1, pretty sure they will be in the playoffs. So let's put the because buffalo aside and wait until we actually know what this team is made of. There has been a few times we have been able to sustain offensive zone pressure, and that's a huge positive.

While Eichel surely didn't shine in this game, he didn't have a bad Game, a few gafs and definetly a lack of effort but he was still one of our better players
