Because he is playing the wrong position. Move him to wing and the 3rd line and tell him to just be aggressive. Go to the net young man. With his current lack of confidence and inaccurate shot, he needs less responsibility not more until his game hopefully rebounds.

Does he? I think he is sucking the life out of Dahlin’s game and his prior year metrics with Dahlin except last year aren’t good.

Do you know what this team needs? They need a versatile coachable playmaking center who can play on any line. Wouldn’t it be nice if our incompetent GM didn’t trade away such a player. Cozens is dragging down his line. It’s time to make a change. It’s time to admit that Cozens’ best position is on the wing. Between McLeod, Krebs, Lafferty and Kulich we have 4 other guys to try as the 2nd line center. Hell try Benson or Quinn. I’d try McLeod between Benson and Quinn first I’d then try Kulich between Cozens and Greenway Lastly Zucker Lafferty with Krebs/Malenstyn. Also it’s time to run with Levi in net. UPL isn’t looking all that sharp. Not a surprise as KA gave him a big extension after one good year. It’s also time to shuffle the D pairings. The current ones suck. Time to try Dahlin w Power and experiment with the rest. As I wrote in the off-season, I was worried that this group would continue to give up HDCA and that has been the case over the first 5 games. No one should be surprised. This team has been desperate for a steady stay at home top 4 D for years and KA has responded to that need with Bryam, Clifton, Lyubuskin, Eric Johnson, re-signing Jokiharju. I had a brief moment of optimism about this club when looking at the best case scenarios. Sadly, it’s becoming clear that this is a hopelessly constructed roster that lacks good in zone defense and adequate center play. No team can win consistently with those 2 flaws. On the bright side, they didn’t fold after coughing up the lead in the 3rd and JJP is becoming a dominate offensive player. They also worked hard to score by going to the net. This is a very positive development.

Fair question. It’s easier for Power and Cozens and harder for Dahlin and TnT. Cozens and Power should be removed from the 2nd PP. Cozens demoted to the 3rd line until he starts playing the right way. For Dahlin and TNT it the best punishment would be reduced PT in favor of guys playing the right way. Accountability isn’t easy but Lindy should know what he needs to do, but so far it isn’t really working.

So I shouldn’t expect the guys being paid to be our best players to actually be our best players? So far this season Tuch, Greenway, Clifton and Levi have been our best players. We need to hold the “leadership” group accountable for bad performance after bad performance. Even with a solid win tonight, 3/4 of the guys I mentioned were invisible again and the PP in which all 4 are key players is still 0 for the season.

Power and Dahlin have 1 assist between them.

Through 4 games Cozens, Thompson, Power and Dahlin, who are getting paid 33 million $+, have 3 goals and 1 assist and -5.

The only play he made tonight was the shot he put past a shaky goalie. Any decent goalie would have made the save.

Thompson is a one trick pony. His shot. He is a huge overpaid version of Olofsson. I know this comment will piss some people off, but tell me what he’s done so far this season. He isn’t making his linemates better. He isn’t playmaking. He isn’t getting back defensively and doesn’t engage physically despite his size. They are still trying to flow the PP for his shot and it’s not working. At least he’s better than Cozens.

Nice of the guys to play hard for a change. 3/4 goals scored as a result of hard work round the net. Levi solid again, but the PP is a disaster.

It’s kind of sad that the Sabres are already playing out the string after just 3 games. An all time low.

What about 8 mill for Power? Has to be one of the worst contracts in hockey.

I don’t care about expected goals. These guys, all of them, can’t finish. McLeod didn’t even come close on the penalty shot. Each game so far there have been open looks and no one scores. The PP is a joke. They had a 5 on 3 and duff didn’t get a good opportunity to score. Heck, LA cleared the puck twice. No one goes to the net to screen the goalie or to cash in a rebound. They are just skating around collecting a check. Adams should be fired tomorrow.

Goal song? Don’t you actually have to score goals to play a goal song?

This team is a complete joke. Kopitar is 100 years old and is still better than any Sabre. Oh well! Glad I was able to fast forward on ESPN+ when I got home tonight.

Just about to post this. Both VO and Mitts on the 1st PP for their teams. The Adams lead Sabres have no idea how to utilize their players.

The article says he skates well, has size and can play up and down the lineup. What would sour two CHL teams on the kid?

He has a pretty good campaign in the Q last year. Weird to see a kid move from the Q to the WHL. Was this something the Sabres helped orchestrate? So what now? Back to Germany? Can he go to the USHL and then to college? ECHL? Find another CHL team?

I'm as harsh a critic as anyone here on GM Howdy Doody. However, Reimer getting claimed was foreseen. He also signed Sandstrom, who has struggled recently, but does have some NHL experience (30 games) as does Houser. Would I like someone better than Sandstrom as the 3rd goalie? Of course, but Reimer getting claimed was as a likely outcome the day he was signed. Levi is ready.

Currently at the Violent Femmes with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Interesting show so far. I was curious about how they’d orchestrate some of their songs and some they clearly couldn’t. However Gone Baby Gone was great with an orchestra.

If the current owner can’t hire competent management for the Sabres, he should sell the team to someone willing to bring in actual hockey people. GM Howdy Doody needs to go.

All teams have injuries, but man games lost are highly correlated to making or missing the playoffs.
