Sabres Playoff Odds - Analytics likes our chances
GASabresIUFAN replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t know how the model works, but teams that give up 300 goals don’t make the playoffs. -
Comrie and UPL Throw in Schenn with Demko and I’m very interested in the deal. Question as always is how much.
 -
Maybe this opportunity will make Greg Rousseau into a star.

They said last night during the post game show that Tage has the hardest shot in the NHL. What is more impressive has been his ability to use his wing span to maneuver the puck to deek goalies and create space. Focusing only on his hard shot also diminishes how good his wrist shot is and his ability to make plays in tight. Now if he could win a draw or two we’d really have something.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
GASabresIUFAN replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
To get to the playoffs the Sabres will need at least 96 pts. We have 25 pts in 26 games. To earn 71 points, the team will need to go 33-18-5 in the remaining 56 games. -

Mittelstadt, Olofsson and the 3rd and 4th Lines

If DG is serious about fixing Mitts, I think the answer is getting him to watch film on Thompson. Mitts needs to drive the middle of the ice. He is big enough, fast enough and strong enough to make plays there. However he needs to be willing to take the hits that come from driving the middle. -
Schenn has no trade protection. He doesn’t get to approve a trade. If Van trades him to us, he is going to play for us.
 -
Why? Schenn has no trade protection and is a career 3rd line D. McCade has 2 years left at $4 mill per season. He does have a M-NTC, but I don’t think it would be a hard sell to get him to come back, help mentor the kids and maybe finally get to the playoffs. I think had we offered him a deal similar to Chicago’s he’d have stayed. I don’t think he’d care if he play 16 minutes a night in a 3rd pairing role on an improving team.
 -
I thought the deal was premature, because he looked like a possible one year wonder. I’m so glad I was wrong. Tage has taken his game to another level. He is arguably among the top 10 centers in the NHL. His long-term deal looks like a steal now.

I wonder how soon some of the bottom feeders start selling players in order to consolidate their tanks for Bedard, Fantilli and Michkov. Tonight’s game shows what’s possible for this team with just a little help on defense. If I were KA I’d call Chicago about our old friend McCabe and Van about Schenn. I’d love to get both, but don’t think that is realistic.
