Lazar, though a tried and true 4th liner is much better than this guy will ever be. The Bruins boards are more than happy to see him go. Now we have to watch this guy drag the team down next year instead of someone with real upside like an R2 or Peterka (after maybe a half year of seasoning in the AHL).
-
A locked up cheap Lazar is worth more than that late 2nd round pick more times than not. And Bjork will only hurt us. Should have just let Hall sit out if this is what we call a return. Look at his stat line on one of hockeys best teams over the last couple of years. And he's old enough that he has little upside.

Sabres have made it a Top Priority to Re-Sign Linus Ullmark per Friedman

To sign Ullmark EDIT: Didn't see he's in the final year of his contact. -
Flyers are sitting cozy in a playoff spot in any other division but the East. And wait until Eichel gets healthy! I choose to be optimistic, and I'm having a lot of fun watching the team right now. I don't think we're a cup contender next year, but I think we can be good. You don't think Lazar, Okposo, or R2 have any place in the lineup next year?

Looks like the Leafs are out of the running with the Rittich trade with Calgary. -
Lazar, Okposo, and Girgensens would make a nice looking 4th. Though he has some warts as a checker and playmaker, putting Olofsson on Eichel's wing as a finisher makes him a top 6. Add in Skinner, Reinhart, Cozens, and a yet to be named free agent W acquisition, and we're set. And this says nothing about R2. I'm less confident about filling out our D. Dahlin, Risto, Bryson, and Joki should be good to go. Hopefully Borgen's small sample size of what he gave us would put him as a future bottom pair guy. Would Samuelsen be ready?

I don't think you saw the capital IF? That said, today was another step forward.

The biggest point to drive home is that Granato is doing all this without Eichel. Since the tank, the only way we've ever stood a chance is when Eichel is playing.
-
Granato didn't move the needle with Krueger as the HC... He probably won't with a guy like Boudreau either.
-
As well, I don't want old guard guy locking down Dahlin, Cozens, and our other young guys into rigid systems.
-
My biggest worry though as I mentioned in my initial post, is they bring in an old guard guy and he'll try to ride his washed up vets who's contracts we're stuck with just like they all seem to do. With the cap being what it is, KA is no question going to have to bring in some low cost veteran fillers with zero upside again this off season, and old guard guy is going to ride them until we're out of the playoffs.
-
Results no different, but the lineup he had to work with most certainly is.

How bad was UPL?

I like him, and what he's been able to get out of this group. Especially the young guys. With Eichel out of the lineup, we shouldn't even be in any of these games. Dahlin is starting to look like the 1st overall we drafted. Mittelstadt, Thompson, and Aspland are showing signs they could be the 3rd line on a cup contending team. Though still a work in progress, Skinner is starting to show signs of his former self. The big one for me though is he's playing the young guys in favour of the old washouts. You see this all through the league... It's like a respect thing where coaches play the old guys even when they're terrible. You bring in an old guard guy like Boudreau, and I guarantee you he's going to be playing the Eakins, Sobotkas, and Bogosians of the world in favour of Cozens, Quinn, and Peterka. So I say IF we finish the season playing like we are now, Granato should get the job.

We win this with an NHL goalie. Like most games since RK left, I got my entertainment out of this one. -

Do you guys think we'll find out that Tokarski needs eye surgery at the end of the season? -

Ever since he got a chance this year he's been good. -
