Nice thing about Comrie is he doesn't need to play hockey. -

I can't watch the game. How's Greenway? I hated the signing and need a 2nd outlet for my frustration besides the goaltending. -

It's not that they aren't ready. 💩 goaltending = no playoffs -
I get that he's big and plays a defense first game, but 2G and 5A all year appears to be WELL below the Mendoza Line of being a legit NHL forward. It looks like Adams is banking on this being a down year for him because his past years look quite respectable for a 3/4 line role. Let's hope he guessed right.

Sabres trade Anders Bjork to Chicago for AHL Center Carson Gicewicz

Finally the last piece of what was likely the worst line in Sabres team history is gone. -

Not sure if it's been posted but Levi's .934 save% currently leads the NCAA by .002.

Good debate here. By the eye test, I think the kids win easily... But with this logic string, I pause for thought... Still today, an aging Sidney Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin are two of the best players in the NHL. When they were in their young primes, aging veterans like Jagr, Thornton, and Iginla right there with them. Then when you look at those same aging veterans in their young primes, there were aging veterans that were right there with them (or even better- Lemieux, Sakic, Forsberg, etc). The cycle continues back to 1983. The game has no doubt evolved, and so do players and equipment, but I think by my logic, the difference is closer than the eye test would lead us to believe... Especially(!) if we're comparing NCAA players to NHL players.

GDT: Sabres @ Mighty Ducks, Feb 15, 2023, 10pm, MSG WGR

I'm not convinced we'd win more games if the team fought more. I think it just feels better to get revenge. -
Liked him and Jeremy, especially them ribbing him about all the foods he's never tried... Peanut butter?!?! 🤣 I won't be sad to see "Howard Picks the Bills" gone for good. It was always the most hyped, most boring part of the show.

I consider myself among the many Gen X'ers that didn't let my now 15 and 13yo kids fail and figure stuff out for themselves when they were younger. Now they suck at it and are playing catch-up when compared to my generation. That said, I think that it makes a lot of financial sense for a kid to stay at home if you live close to a good school/program that they are interested in. I've seen plenty of colleagues' kids go away to "find themselves" only to be unemployed/unemployable after getting their liberal art$ diploma$ somewhere out of town.

He also didn't make Team Canada.

You can't compare point production from Reinhart's era to now. You're better off looking at ppg ranking. Savoie is 22nd. Reinhart was 9th.
-
I don't want Savoie until he shows he can dominate in the WHL. From the looks of the stat sheet, he appears to be pretty far behind expectation.

Sabres fandom, geographical boundaries.

What part of Niagara did you live in. I grew up in St Catharines and didn't know too many Sabres fans, but I'm only 47. -

That's not right. Leafs rule in Niagara. At best, Fort Erie / Niagara Falls / Welland might be 30% Sabres at best. Leafs are better than 50%... Though a lot of Leaf fans would put the Sabres as their 2nd team. St Catharines is maybe 20% Sabres if you're lucky, but still there's a lot of people that have Buffalo as their 2nd team. Past St Catharines (i e. Lincoln, Grimsby where I now live, etc), it might be 10% Sabres- tops... and probably 60-70% Leafs. That's the boots on the ground observation from a guy that's spent most of his 47 years years living, working, and playing throughout the Niagara Region. -
GDT - Sabres @ Jets - January 26, 2023 - 8:00 PM (EST) - MSG and TSN3

By my guess this is his 6th or 7th game where he hasn't been shooting. -
On the ice, either one is readily replaceable with our cap space. Off the ice, KO would be key to have for one more year for his mentorship. After his first contract here, he kind of owes us a discount too. 😉

Considered putting this thought in tonight's GDT but thought it might merit it's own discussion. While Quinn, Peterka, and Krebs still haven't fully hit their stride, their presence in the lineup still has been a MAJOR boost over last year. That's because they're effectively replacing the minutes Eakin, Bjork, and Hayden were playing (albeit on different lines). Bjeaken were three of the absolute worst players in the league, yet they played a regular shift all season long. By next year, as the kids' man-strength develops and they have a full season of playing NHL hockey under their belts, we could be well on our way to having the runaway best offense in the league.

As I've said before... Leave Tage in his spot, and let teams try to take him away. Put VO on the opposing half boards, and let him fire away unopposed. PP2, repeat with Quinn, and another sniper... Not sure who though.
