  1. Back in the day (25+ years ago) when I'd be in Philly several times a year, the Parkway Deli was the go to. It was walking distance to our usual hotel, which I'm seeing no longer exists... right by the art gallery.
  2. I feel like ranch became a thing because it's way cheaper to make vs blue cheese. Places that adapted wing eating later in the game accepted the newly adapted substitute whereas those that were in the OG wing craze knew better.
  3. I've spent many a year rowing on the Schuylkill and eating many a steak in my day. While I can't vouch for the authenticity, the steak subs at Tim and Bonnie's pizza in Ellicottville are pretty darn good. Used to get them at the Springville location too when they used to be Blasdell pizza and they were the same back then. Always get mine with Provolone as I did back when I'd frequent Philly. Here in Canada, Philly Cheese Steaks are really what you would call an abomination. Think a minimal amount of steak, not very finely chopped, topped with big chunky sliced fried green peppers and onions that were fried separately than the steak. Provolone??? What's that?! Terrible!!!!!!
  4. I'm not sure if it's the same in the US, but the Canadian BWW use wings that have clearly been injected with whatever that filler stuff they use in cheap frozen chicken breasts (meat protein?). It really doesn't get much worse. Making decent wings isn't rocket science. Basically, if you can find a corner bar that has decent sized wings, fries them well, shakes in a simple Frank's and butter mix, you're lightyears ahead of any chain restaurant. Gotta be a place in somewhere in Philly that can do that.
  5. I'm signing Reese PB Puffs to play LW, moving CTC to C so it can use the whole ice, and slotting the Count into RW. That's a formidable offense.
  6. Count Chocula While it will always be an overrated part of a balanced breakfast, it's still very underrated as a mid evening snack. That's the hill I'm dying on.
  7. I agree that that's what he does, but to me he's average to below average in every single one of those listed traits. When we're a cup contending team which I hope we are in the next 2 years, average to below average won't cut it. Hopefully with all our cap room we can find a FA that's average to ABOVE average in all those listed traits to get us through until someone in our prospect pool emerges as an above average 4th liner.
  8. 6 negative reactions to this post. 🤷‍♂️ Just wondering... What has Girgensons done in the years he's been here to warrant such respect? I get that he tries really hard (in fact there were years where it seemed he was the only one trying), and does hit a guy now and again, but that's really about it. He's been a mainstay on our weak penalty kill. I don't recall our 4th line been particularly strong in the last bunch of years except when Okposo has been on it. Personally I've seen enough of him ALMOST creating something through his effort (which I do respect), but generating nothing through his poor hockey IQ. Given our cap room and prospects in the system, we can do much better.
  9. Girgs first. Easily. After we shore up the D, if there are realistic options to upgrade KO, then move him. Likely though I'd give him another year just because our guys in the system need another year, and you won't find a better veteran who'd sign for just 1 season.
  10. Girgensons is FAR and AWAY a weaker player than him and isn't the same leader. Get rid of him first. Without the Z baggage, I think KO could have a better season next year and still be needed in the lineup, especially if we want to focus on improving our 4 through 6 D.
  11. I had fun watching all season. Sometimes a lot of fun. Was at the Minny game in January... Tears in the eyes being in the arena that jacked up again. Can't wait until next year. Let's go Buffalo!
  12. Only pg 6 going into the 3rd period. Correction: page 6.
  13. Between being at the baseball diamond with my son, and the soccer field with my daughter, I've got three Adirondack trips planned. The first is campground camping with my brother's family. The second is in a cottage with my wife and kids. Lastly, some friends and I are doing 3 days of backcountry camping in a yet to be determined spot. As a Canadian in Niagara, I strongly believe the ADK is the best spot in the world within a tank of gas from my house. My wife and I took our first ever vacation together in Lake Placid back when we were dating and it's been our spiritual second home ever since.
  14. Damn Tuesdays!!!!!!
  15. The Buffalo Sabres are still my favourite team.
  16. I've said it once, I'll say it again. Its clear the Zemgus Girgensons experiment has to be ended.
  17. Grandfather?
  18. Devon Levi for Sam Whinehard straight up. Does anyone make that trade? 🤣
  19. Playing Ukko-PICKLE Luukkonen would be far bolder.
  20. Also said the Sabres are in the playoffs if Levi is here all season.
  21. What do you think you do in the playoffs?! THESE ARE THE PLAYOFFS!!!!!
  22. Please season... Don't end!!!! Let's go Buffalo!!!!!
  23. A small mobile goalie is lightyears better than a big body plug in a SO... ahem lehner, ahem kkkkkk.
