  1. Is this thread really OT? It's not like it's another pizza thread. There's actual Sabres talk.
  2. Only 25% retained! 🤣
  3. Says the guy who lives 2+ hours from Leafland. Try being a life long Sabres fan in Southern Ontario. Even someone just across the border in Buffalo would get enough Canadian media to know... Let alone the several times a year they show up drunk and obnoxious as all hell to the KBC.
  4. To all who celebrate, Happy Leafs Elimination Day. Every year, i have an annual tradition of reading this beauty of an article. It's aging like fine wine! https://torontosun.com/2017/09/11/simmons-vaulted-by-big-3-this-maple-leafs-team-is-a-champion-in-waiting Watching Leaf Nation melt down over the next few months will help dull the pain of no Sabres until the fall, and this offseason should be better than most. Cheers to all!
  5. Boston barely looks like they care.
  6. The mental gymnastics will get easier once you're ready to get back in the "gym".
  7. EJ was brought in because he knows how to win. Once you have this knowledge, stats are meaningless.
  8. Haha! That was unintentional but I can totally see what you mean.
  9. Congrats! I was wondering on how the detox went.
  10. NO THANK YOU!
  11. Gotta love it.
  12. Agreed. The very best: 1. RJ 2. Bob Cole 3. Danny Gallivan Some other thoughts: Some real oldtimers will say Foster Hewitt is the best. I was too young to have heard him live, but on record, I don't think he holds up to the 3 in the list. Hate the Leafs, but I'll give Joe Bowen props for his homer Leafs broadcast. He's no RJ, but Leaf fans should be thankful to have him. Watching the Campbell hit clips the other day triggered a thought... Once/if we ever get good again, I worry that the hype around the team might never get back to the way it was with RJ. He was part of what made watching the games so good. I question if the hype can be the same without him... Especially with Dud-leavy.
  13. With the notable exception of the Triple Lindy reference, there is a lot of really poor comedy in this thread. It's going to be a long F&$#ING offseason!
  14. This, for sure!
  15. If we're honest with ourselves are there really any slam dunk guys available right now? Especially one that ticks the box of needing someone to whip up this young core. Everyone has their wrinkles. I don't think Lindy is any better or any worse than anyone we could have got. All we can do is sit back and let the chips fall as they may.
  16. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully you can find an even better landing spot, and enjoy the severance pay while you're at it! I'm not sure what the job market is like for doctors in the US, but I'll echo the comment that there's plenty of jobs here in Canada. The pay might not be as good, and with some exceptions, the cost of living is generally higher, but there are some perks to living in Canada... YMMV.
  17. I was very surprised to see the Wings go into that slump since they had Kane and he knows how to win.
  18. How about Patrick Kane? What about when perennial loser Ryan O'Reilly led his team to the cup? Vegas in their first year made the Cup finals. Ovechkin was a loser, until he wasn't. To win the cup, you need: -Talent -Avoid Injuries -Hot goalie -A little puck luck Every cup winner has some combination of the above. But because pretty much every team in the league has a veteran or two in the lineup, people are bound to claim their leadership played a role.
  19. Crosby "knows how to win" better than anyone in the league. Now he's golfing.
  20. I've always thought he sounded like a 420 enthusiast, but the extended interview confirmed it. Anyone else hearing that? Wonder if he'll be celebrating in a couple days.
  21. Seems like fair value.
  22. I'm not considering Levi since he's already played a lot of NHL games. For Kulich, look at his AHL points and then look at what our two 2nd liners Quinn and Peterka did in Roch. He's way behind them as a prospect.
  23. Leadership? That was Eric Johnson's job. How'd that turn out. What we need is to score more than the other teams. For that, we need talent. No more Eric Johnsons, no more Tyson Josts, no more Clifton's.
