  1. Lets take a vote using the ✅ or the ❌ to my post... Who SKIPPED reading this because it was too long. ✅ SKIPPED ❌ DIDN'T SKIP
  2. Mitch Marner got sent back when he was way further along his development track than Benson or Savoie. That turned out to be a good move.
  3. Faceoffs are important, and if there was such thing as a guy that could win you 80% faceoffs, you would put him out there in some situations, even if he sucked. However, statistically the VERY best one or two guys in the league will win you 1 more faceoff out of 10 than an average guy. A REALLY GOOD faceoff guy will win you 1 more out of 20. If you and I were both NHL GM's, I feel that I would like you as a trading partner.
  4. Josh "Cam Newton" Allen is only effective when he's running a lot. Today he is not running a lot.
  5. Lists are stupid. Nothing but a bunch of click bait. In the journalism profession, they call them listicles and they are by all means the laziest of lazy journalism. Reasons: 1. People are for some reason drawn to these lists... Likely to see if their favourite jaunt is on there. Or music lists where their favourite song is on there. 2. It's a subjective... Research what a bunch of other people say and you don't even need to go further. A matter of taste. Similar to music lists. 3. Lists aren't really need alot of good grammar because it's not for the high fallutin readers. 4. In my google feed, I block any websites that are usually just a bunch of listicle garbage. Sick of reading about the best 10 days trips from Southern Ontario. Anyhow, that's how I feel about listicles... Don't even bother.
  6. Any thought on a Tokarski / UPL swap?
  7. At the end of the 2nd, the stats experts say an average NHL goalie would have only let in 1.72 goals. Average NHL goalies save shots they're not supposed to.
  8. The eggheads are saying the expected goals are: 1.92 Buff 1.7 Phi Classic UPL game.
  9. The exchange rate for Canadians right now is abysmal. This will affect me going to the games for sure. Picking a random spot in the 100s, tickets would be $250CN straight from Ticketmaster. I feel like these seats might have only been $150CN tops a year or two ago when exchange was better and ticket prices were lower. With my wallet stretched as far as it thanks to inflation, I'm going to be a 300s guy if I'm going to any games this year. Looking at the ticket map, it looks like the 300s are selling well, likely because that's all people can afford.
  10. My favourite part of Cozens game is when he picks up the puck in the neutral zone and he drives the offensive zone at full power. I haven't seen too much of that this year.
  11. Has Cozens looked off so far? Tuch seems to get the attention but could Cozens be hurt too?
  12. Staying in the sub festive spirit, how do you like your pain?
  13. Any self respecting club sandwich has real cooked turkey (edit: or chicken) and not the lunch meat type. 🤤
  14. If it's lunch meat based no toast. If it's steak, meatball, grilled chicken, etc, toast.
  15. This is true. The defense did a great job keeping pucks out of the net while UPL was doing his usual post-rebound chicken dance.
  16. Yeah, he goes down, and can't get back up or get back into position. I've never noticed a goalie that poor at it.
  17. I'm a UPL critic with the best of them, but he's done his job tonight!
  18. Most goals you can't blame on the goalie. If they save all the ones they're supposed to get, you might have an .800 goalie. A real NHL goalie makes proportionally more saves on all the goals you can't be blamed for. UPL saves comparably less of the goals he can't be blamed for, and let's a few in he's supposed to get too.
  19. What's the Mittelstadt kid going to cost?!?! 😛
  20. I see there's a game vs Canisius on Nov 11. Would that be a good one to go to, or is it better to go to a conference game?
  21. I was thinking of bringing the family out to take in some college sports. My son is pushing to hopefully play college baseball somewhere. My daughter just loves a good party. I used to go to a few games a year at the Carrier Dome back when my friend had a full scholarship for rowing (basketball, football, lacrosse). It was awesome! The atmosphere was always jacked right up. I figure taking in some sports and taking in the college atmosphere (even if it's not his own sport) would be a great motivator for my son. My wife and daughter have always wanted to experience the college thing. What's the atmosphere like at the Big 4 college basketball games around Buffalo? I know the schools and gyms are small, but if the crowd is really into it, it could still be fun. My son actually likes the idea of getting into a school like Canisius where he can be around fellow Sabres and Bills fans, and not be too far from home. Is Syracuse still fun given they're not the same team they used to be? Any other suggestions?
  22. Based on many years of underwhelming results since he's entered the pro his status as a top prospect has long past. He may absolutely still develop into a good goalie one day, but I'd rather him figure it out in a league where he won't potentially cost us another season of playoff hockey if he doesn't. Agreed. It sucks. I'm just hoping the Comrie and Levi injuries lights a fire under Adams that should have been lit much earlier.
  23. Don't forget he has those bad seasons in Roch too. There seems to be a bit of a honeymoon after his shutout, but it'll take a MUCH larger sample size for me to come around on him. Most importantly, I don't want to jeopardize another season with that sample with him playing in the NHL. I'd risk losing him to waivers if Adams can find someone better.
