100% as it should be. Thing is, I think that 10 year window is opening now (if not it has to be next year with Eichel already playing in his 5th season now).

I've always kind of questioned the Sabres ability to develop any player (this goes back to Tyler Myers days of regressing after his rookie season). But VO might be the poster boy in player development. I know he played alot of years back home but I'm sure Sabres staff were in constant contact and had a say in his development also.

They had Friedman on instigators about an hour ago too. He said there were very few games around the league last night which partly contributed but also no secret with Montour and bogo coming back at some point there’s obviously depth there to move him. Lots of scouts in the stands. Also mentioned Ducks as a team really trying to bring in a rhd.

I’m in the gta. Don’t have cable so I have nhl.tv and have watched all of the others. Even if it was Toronto I could maybe see it but Montreal? Says I’m blacked out for the area. Wish it was like Sunday ticket where you actually get all games including local.

So I paid two hundred friggen dollars for nhl.tv and I still can’t get the sabres game tonight. Unbelievable. If anyone comes across a stream I’d love a PM.

We have five really good forwards. I just keep thinking how good that second line can be with another good winger. We have to find a way to make that happen because neither sobotka or Erod will get that done. I’m not going to blame Krueger by playing one scrub instead of another. I’m going to blame Jbott for not bringing in more forward talent. Hence why I’m bringing this up in trade thread. One move could correct this problem.

I love your research and analysis but your saying he’s not a top 6 forward. I’m saying he’s not a top 6 forward. Nothing to debate here. I almost didn’t even comment earlier as I was worried I would get straw man responses (not directed at you at all). The debate shouldn’t be if erod plays over sobotka, it should be how we need to find a better forward on the second line because erod ain’t that (nor is sobotka).

Yes the reason is we have nobody better. Again my point is not to debate whether Erod should start over sobotka (he should) but we need to do better than erod on our second line. Usually that spot isn’t reserved for your penalty killers. That’s why he’s a fine third or fourth liner but we have to do better in our top 6. Absolutely have too.

That's just because he's the whipping boy around here. I'm not going to sit here and defend Sobotka. Not gonna happen. But Erod is not dramatically improving that top 6 from what we iced the first three games. He's not.

Meh. Erod is a third liner at best imo. Maybe a slight upgrade but huge is not what I would describe that as. He's not a top 6 player today. Neither are. Hence why I would consider a Risto deal.

We have enough depth the cover three weeks. But I’ll say again what I’ve said all summer, only make that trade if it substantially upgrades the top 6. Don’t be moving him for the sake of it or a third liner coming back. Toughness is overrated until you don’t have it imo. He and McCabe are the only two bringing that element (I guess bogo too once he’s back but he’s useless).

I'm a big fan myself. We need a RW much more than a LW but I would still be into a Risto for Ehlers swap.

How far away is Montour? If it's only another two or three weeks I would trade Risto IF it dramatically upgrades our top 6.

People can say what they want about GMJB’s NHL team building but his drafting seems to be excellent based on early returns atleast.

I checked Sabrespace at 8 this morning on the first game of season and there was no GDT. Last year we had multiple people doing the big writeups. Good call doing the analystics on yourself Brawndo hhaahahhaah. Expectations cannot be any lower around here.
