Haven’t heard this before, and I don’t think that was a sourced report. I think that Friedman just has gotten the impression that a lot of NHL management really took notice of the Tkachuk situation and how that played out, and may be more inclined to lock up their younger players who are still a couple years from UFA when they get the chance. I’ve heard Friedman follow that same line of thinking when discussing other contracts, maybe the Barzal deal if my memory is correct.

Harrington is kind of bad, but this is correct. As demonstrated by the Sabres tonight.

This. I hope that they do this.

I keep looking in here hoping there has been an update on her health. I continue to be disappointed by the content of the “new” posts. -
Missed the game. From looking at the statistics, it looks like it was a pretty evenly played game, but their goalie kept out more pucks than our goalie. Is that what it looked like for those watching?

GDT:Sabres at Seattle 10/25/22 10pm, MSG, Root WGR550

Seattle beat Colorado in their own building less than a week ago. Go ask the Avs if they were easy points. It’s a long season, 82 games is a lot, western road trips are tough, the Sabres are better but are young and not an outstanding team. Stuff like this is just going to happen occasionally. The key is whether they let one bad game become 3 bad games, or if they are able to rebound. That’s what will determine the course of their season. -

This is a rough one. Sabres are a young team and this will happen from time to time. Unless craziness happens, this game is sunk. They need to settle down and get themselves ready for the next game. This is a terrible performance but how they recover in the next couple games is what will define their season. Will this be just one bad loss, or will they let it become a trend? Good night everyone. At least they made it easier for me to sleep at a reasonable hour. -

Why is it called Climate Pledge Arena? Are they forgoing any naming rights money, or was there some company that sponsors that name? -
I agree with keeping Tuck with Skinner-TT, at least for now. I was just spitballing.
-
Cozens-Peterka looks to be the backbone of an awesome checking line that can also score plenty of goals. Hinestroza is ok, but imagining them with a Tuch, or maybe Kulich down the road is tantalizing.

5v5 sh% would not include ENG, no?

Can you answer the question if you want to defend your position. When did it not almost always go to one of the few top scoring D? Define “considered”.
-
No. My point is that it has basically always gone to someone in the top 5 of scoring defensemen. It doesn’t always go to the top scoring D nowadays. Overall play is definitely a factor. I dont think much has changed in how it is awarded over the years.
-
I’d would not be surprised if someone else went 2nd overall.
-
During what time period did it not usually go to one of the top point producers?
-
Gavin McCarthy, RHD, from Clarence Center, played for the Jr Sabres, probably will have a 2nd round rating.
-
I agree on the long term aspect, but the post I was replying to was specifically referring to the Calgary of today vs last season.

What is different this year so far, through 4 games...
Curt replied to mjd1001's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t think the Sabres are “running circles around teams” at all. They have been outplayed and out chances in 3 out of 4 games. And even that game where they mostly outplayed the opposition, they gave up 40+ shots and were outshot. The Sabres won games because their goaltending has been better. I’m not sure how much that will continue, but it’s nice when you can get it. As the season goes along, it’s extremely likely that these odd man rushes, both for and against, will decrease. -

This is definitely true of the NHL in general. More goals per game are scored early in the season. I don’t think that’s the reason the Sabres won a couple games though. -
I get where you are coming from too. Plenty of defensively strong defenseman are drafted and drafted high too though. I think it’s mostly an issue of things talking heads say. “Puck moving defenseman” has become an over used buzzterm. It does mean anything anymore. Lots of guys who become mostly defense focused players at the NHL level are described as puck moving defenseman around draft time just because they are able to put up a decent number of points at the junior levels.
