Taking that JJ-DC-JQ line as an example, I actually see JJ and DC as the more complimentary players and Quinn as the guy who could be an offensive star putting up huge goal and point totals.

Hecht was a 2-way, Jack of all trades, complementary middle 6 C/W. Quinn is a potential 1st line winger. A goal scorer with magic in his stick who can hold his own in every other facet of the game. I don’t see them as similar players.

Skimmed the article. Their thought process seems backwards. Players who are improving more often end up in the NHL. Players who are not more often end up in the AHL. It’s the improvement that causes the league assignments, not the leagues causing the improvement. EDIT: Oh, they addressed this in the article as a possibility. I lean that way.

Yeah, the ice time is interesting. Mitts has been getting plenty of time throughout the season. I don’t know if they are trying to showcase him, or are trying to give him his last best chance to take a big step, but they must be able to see that he is floundering quite a bit. I really like Quinn. He has that ability to produce a moment of brilliance with the puck on his stick, and I don’t think he is going to be a liability in other areas of the game. You need a few guys like that.

I don’t think playing with Quinn and Peterka will cause Cozens’ production to drop (I hasn’t yet).

Cozens has seen a big jump in production over previous seasons. He had 38 points last season and currently is on pace for 60. Who is complaining about that? His raw numbers are improving, not being stifled.

I hope he takes $10M AAV, but that is more a hope than a logical prediction. By the end of the season, he will almost certainly have proven that he is worth more.

Something doesn’t need to be surprising for it to be considered an accomplishment. I think you mean overachievement. As to the 95-96 team, it was before my time.
