  1. She certainly didn’t help herself, but also seems like she got a raw deal. She obviously wasn’t speaking off the cuff. She was representing the opinions of organizational leadership when she spoke. And as soon as there was public backlash, the organization scapegoated her. This better be followed up by a long list of additional resignations, or it’s meaningless.
  2. This is fine. Seems about right. In general, I’m not a huge fan of short term captains, guys who you know will only be around for 1-2 years. In that situation, I’d normally want to go with 3 A’s. I prefer captains to be a long term commitment from both sides. Okposo has certainly earned it though. Another aspect of this is the choice of A’s. Veteran Girgensons and sole young guy of the group Dahlin. I think that Dahlin has the inside track on being the C after Okposo hangs up the skates.
  3. According to capfriendly, he is still waiver exempt
  4. UPL does not need to go through waivers to be assigned to the AHL. He is waiver exempt.
  5. I’m surprised (maybe I shouldn’t be) that people are having such a strong reaction to a preseason game where the Sabres clearly iced a terrible lineup, against a very good team skating all their starters. Comrie looked bad playing behind a Sabres’ 6-11 defensemen? Can we really take anything away from that?
  6. I’m doubtful that Hockey Canada will survive this without a full restructuring. A complete clean sweep of the board of directors and management. They clearly do not understand what the organization’s path forward needs to look like. They take no responsibility for any wrong-doing, they don’t acknowledge that change needs to happen, they don’t even understand that they should lie or make empty promises about making change. They truly do not understand the situation they are in. The fact that this is the case is, as you say, pure insanity. How can this be? Is it just that Hockey Canada is accustomed to being untouchable? As a powerful national body in a country where the sport is an ingrained part of the culture, do they feel that they are not beholden to anyone? As an American, I probably didn’t have the most complete grasp on how all encompassing and pervasive Hockey Canada is (was?) throughout all levels of hockey in Canada. I’m kind of just learning now how deep they have their hooks into the sport throughout the country. They obviously don’t agree with the old adage of “With great power comes great responsibility.” If they continue refusing to take any responsibility, they are not going maintain any power for much longer.
  7. My prediction for start of the season is that Sabres carry 8 D, with both Fitzgerald and Pilut on the roster; and that Bjork is the 13th forward with Peterka and Sheahan starting in Rochester. Sheahan is the first injury call up at C, Peterka at W.
  8. I think it had just run it’s course. It was supposed to a funny thread about a poorly executed statue, and people dug it up as a place to post further Eichel slamming comments.
  9. Won’t this be Cozens’ 3rd as well?
  10. I think people might be underestimating the chances that Dahlin ends up the long term Captain. There have been a lot of little stories and such about how driven he is, how he is pushing things forward in training camp, and getting on guys if they taking it easy in practice. I could easily see Okposo as the C for 1-2 years, then Dahlin taking over.
  11. Also Suzuki with Montreal
  12. It’s been repeated here many times, but having a player on LTIR doesn’t give a team “extra” cap space. You don’t get any cap relief from LTIR until you are already over the cap. Dallas can not simply acquire a player who will be on LTIR and then suddenly have the cap space to sign Robertson. If that was how it worked, contending teams would constantly be trying to acquire LTIR contracts so they could keep all their stud players or sign a high priced UFA even if they are already over the cap. They don’t because that’s not how it works.
  13. That doesn’t look like a report or rumor. That’s just Weekes’ personal prediction/opinion. Seems about right though.
  14. Robertson is looking for $8-9M? Has this been reported anywhere? Source?
  15. I think the Dallas owner should stop talking for a while. Wasn’t he publicly criticizing his Seguin and Benn not too long ago? I hope he believes that Robertson isn’t worth $7M and there guys in the league making $1M who are better players. Can Adams negotiate directly with the Stars owner?
  16. Johnson is worth at least a late 2nd in 2024.
  17. That’s a bargain, no?
  18. Babe Ruth is statistically the most dominant batter in history. Can only judge these guys vs who they played against.
  19. Part of Dallas’s issue is that they can’t afford to give him a big money ($8M+) long term contract. They are probably trying to sign him to a $5M 1-2 year bridge or something. He is probably looking for a $8-9M 8 year deal, which he is probably worth.
  20. It hasn’t been going up. The cap has gone up just $1M total in the past 3 years, and it looks like it will go up just $1 next season.
  21. You predicted that cap will be $90-100M when? I doubt anyone questions that it will get there, it’s just a matter of what season.
  22. I know, joke. Power plays are the most rehearsed part of the game. A lot of coordination and sequencing between the players. No surprise that it looks like a mess from both teams. These guys have barely practiced together.
  23. These power plays look like these guys have never played together before.
  24. He is not retired though. He is unable to play due to injury. Injured players still get paid and their contracts still count against the cap. Retired players do not.
