  1. He is listed as a RD on cap friendly. It could be as simple as that.
  2. Bingo. Even if he has played a lot of RD, he is going to play LD in Buffalo.
  3. Does Okposo get a choice in whether he is protected or not? I didn’t think so. He doesn’t have a NMC so I believe he can be left unprotected. No?
  4. This is how I feel about Girgensons. Risto just doesn’t give me the same feeling. Maybe because it seems like 3 years in a row there have been reports or half hearted trade requests. And also I don’t think he is a smart player. I just don’t feel connected to him.
  5. They were discussing Cozens, not Thompson. For the record though, I think Tage weighs even more than that now. More like 225 by some accounts.
  6. Totally fair. I guess that’s part of having to live with his past actions. I guess my question is, where does it end? If, IF, he seems to have learned and grown from the experience, and is now a better, more self aware human being, when is it ok for him to go on? From the article is sounds like the victims parents would like this guy banned from the NHL for what he did in 7th and 8th grade. I understand that they are hurt, but that doesn’t sit right with me. Maybe he knew it was wrong but did it anyway. Maybe he wanted the approval of his peers. Maybe he was insecure. Maybe he was self absorbed. There are emotional and social reasons that people behave this way. That doesn’t make it right, but it means that people can experience personal growth. I’m just not ready to write off 13-14 year old children for life because they ***** up bad. I ask again, where does it end? If he can’t be in the NHL, what should and shouldn’t he be allowed to do with his life?
  7. It sounds like the way that he behaved as a child/early teen was truly horrible. He deserved to be held accountable for those actions, made to understand why it is unacceptable, and made to explore why he felt the need to do those things. As a result of his actions, that 14 year old was taken to juvenile court, plead guilty, and was sentenced to provide recompense to society. We (as a society, as a world) need to allow for children to learn, grow, and become their best selves. We can not “cancel” a child and sentence them to a lifetime of unfulfilled potential. This young man will always have to live with the memory and reputation of what he has done, but we need to let him go on and continue to live.
  8. He gets the puck out of the defensive zone, with control. If the puck isn’t in the defensive zone, the other team can’t score. That’s how he keeps the puck out of the net. Now, if you are looking for a guy who can stand near the net on the PK and clear the crease, Montour may not be your guy, but at ES I think his defense is pretty good.
  9. That is funny. Fansided is just clickbait nothingness. This mock draft clearly makes absolutely no sense.
  10. The Skinner trade was not in Botterill’s first offseason.
  11. JB brought in Pominville, Pouliot, and Griffith as opposed to Hall, Staal, and Eakin. So, you know, almost the same thing.
  12. Nice! I was thinking that the goalies had an NHL games played threshold requirement. I see that’s not the case though. That’s good news. Thanks Seems like maybe little Kevy knows what he is doing out there. They just grow up so fast.
  13. Not to diminish your point too much, because they do lack some truly proven depth there, but there is also Nelson and Bryson, and who knows maybe Pilut, as reasonable possibilities to play NHL games.
  14. With regards to the expansion draft, that scenario is a possibility but they would also need to bring in a goalie to expose. They need to have at least one goalie exposed who meets the requirements.
  15. Oh, I forgot to mention, in this scenario Eichel missed 20 games.
  16. Yeah, that’s a weird thing to say. Sam has a nice shooting percentage and probably shoots and scores a lot from high danger areas, so maybe that’s where it’s coming from? But Sam in the actual act of shooting a puck is not great. Though I will note that over the past few years his shot has gone from absolutely terrible to something like average.
  17. So, let’s say that after this season, Sam and the Sabres end up going to arbitration. Sam would be the one asking for it so Buffalo would select the term of 1 or 2 years, and would pick 2 of course. Correct? So realistically, Buffalo has contractual control over Sam for 3 more seasons. EDIT: Just realized that players with just one RFA season remaining can only get 1 yr arbitration deals. So, never mind.
  18. That 3rd goal was crazy. Also, how do you get two penalty shots in one game? Has that ever happened in an NHL game? Does Liiga actually call penalty shots?
  19. I saw that. 7 goals in 8 Liiga games is pretty crazy. I don’t know how it will translate to the NHL, but this guy is a real possibility to make the roster.
  20. Also something to consider. What if the top line is Hall-Eichel-Reinhart? What if it’s awesome and they put up points like 85-100-75? Sam would be setting himself up to get PAID in that scenario. Sam may also just want to see how things go. Maybe he doesn’t want to stick around if they continue to suck. We talk about the worry that Eichel might demand out due to losing, but he isn’t the only one.
  21. That’s interesting, but it only says Center in the Tweet. The actual linked story doesn’t say Center. Maybe just a screw up by whoever wrote the tweet? However, I’m down for Sam at C if Sam is down for it.
  22. This is possible, but not a certainty. The financial state of everything, league wide and also Sabres specifically, is very up in the air. Will they want Hall back next season? How much will that cost? How much will Dahlin’s contract cost? Will there be attendance income? Just a lot of questions. Maybe Sam signs a long term deal next offseason, or maybe he gets traded. Those are the two things that I see happening. It wouldn’t make much sense to sign him to consecutive one year deals, then let him walk away.
  23. He will be 24 I’m sure. Don’t see why not. That was his number is junior. He probably had 42 in camp last season or something because Pilut was wearing 24.
  24. I certainly agree with you. Regarding the bolded, it has almost definitely been a financial setback, but probably not so severe as they would like everyone to think. As you can see, very few teams have actually cut player salary, and the UFA contracts were not drastically reduced. His contract crippled their ability to sign guys just as much before the pandemic. They are spending just as much on player salary now as they did last season and the season before. What’s the difference?
  25. This doesn’t fully make sense to me, because player salary costs are hard capped anyway. There is literally a set limit on how much players can make. It young players make more, it means that old players will make less.
