Cool, big help.

Can anyone here tell me what Eakin is good/bad at?
-
What underlyings are you looking at? I see that his shot share metrics have bee consistently poor, but that doesn’t tell the whole story.
-
But why do you think Lazar is a better offensive player. I don’t even think he is. Larson excels at puck possession/cycling in the offensive zone.
-
You keep saying that Lazar is definitely a better offensive player than Larson. I’m not even sure that is true. What makes you think so?
-
I don’t think this is a true fact. When did Mogilny score 97 goals?

Should the Sabres Claim Tyler Johnson from Waivers?
Curt replied to nfreeman's topic in The Aud Club
I know who he is. They want to get rid of him because they can’t afford to pay all of their players. He isn’t crap. If you think he is crap, then I guess I understand why you would think it’s dumb to take him. If you don’t think he is crap, then it could be Buffalo’s only chance to get Tyler Johnson. He doesn’t need to accept a trade to Buffalo. -

The answer would be because you want Tyler Johnson on your hockey team. You are “helping them out” by taking a pretty good hockey player from them. -
Agree on the necessity of filling that role. I was just trying to show that many (majority) of the good FAs are still unsigned after day 1. That the best F addition made today was a 3C is kinda telling in that regard. Just a note, but Wennberg probably ended up in Florida in large part due to Bill Zito just being hired there.

I’m not using just points as a gauge in that determination. Those Bylsma teams were close I guess, but they felt consistently dull AF and like there wasn’t much more to give. I thought last years team played better in general, but obviously had a bad collapse at the end (a bad habit over the past couple seasons).
-
So they missed out on a 3C and a nice 4th liner? That was the BEST any team did with forwards?
-
Yup, not saying credit has been earned, just that these signings are a totally normal part of an NHL team’s offseason. These signings aren’t something to be frustrated by. Viewing every benign, mundane NHL personnel transaction through the lens of nine years of failure is a sure fire way of finding fault in places where they don’t exist. There aren’t too many high priced players for the AHL roster. These players will probably be fine for the minor roles they will fill. There isn’t anything wrong with these signings. It’s just that everyone wants other moves in addition to them.
-
For a lot of teams this offseason, they were. Which of the forwards who signed, do you wish Buffalo had signed? Did any top 6 forwards even sign??? Im not saying you need to be satisfied with what’s happened so far, but there is still a lot of good players who have yet to sign?

Only counterpoint here is: what if Buffalo wants him, but isn’t one of the teams he would accept a trade to? Then claiming him from waivers would be the only way to get him, no? -
The 2019-20 Sabres were the best Sabres team since the tank. That’s pretty sad, but I think it’s true.
-
They have 4. It’s that a lot? These depth signings are the type of moves that almost every NHL team makes every offseason. They aren’t what we are all looking for to improve the Sabres, but you still need to fill out the organizational depth.
-
Rieder is an NHL player. He is fine as a depth signing to play 4th line/13th forward. Not that that should impress you. It’s mostly a bunch of nothing. Hopefully more to come.
-
Agree, it’s just an interesting comparable. I could see Reinhart possibly pushing for a contract like that.
-
WTF is Viktor Maudr? Why should I trust him if he doesn’t know the difference between a , and a . ?
-
How about Max Domi’s contract as a comparable?
-
This guy was signed to a one year, NHL minimum contract to play in Rochester as a vet for the plethora of kids and perhaps spot duty as a 6/7 in the NHL. Of course he isn’t a “good” NHL player.
-
Exchange rate? All NHL salaries are paid in $USD.

Those paint covered children sometimes grow to be NHL scouts.

Yeah, at 11:59pm yesterday and 12:00am today.

Zemgus Girgensons signs 3 Year 2.2 M AAV Deal With Sabres
Curt replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
13-14 mins per game certainly can be worth 2.2M, IMO. I don’t know if Girgensons specifically makes it worth it though. As for this age of austerity, I haven’t seen much sign of it yet.
